How do I make iCloud downloads require a password on all my iDevices?

My apple ID has my iphone 4s, my ipad3 and three ipad mini's for my kids. I know I can use restrictions on each ipad mini for installing apps I've already bought, downloading music I've bought, but I'd much rather make ANY and EVERY download password protected on my appleID. As it is now they can simply click the iCloud/Download icon in the app store or in the music store and download whatever I've bought for myself. My 8, 10 and 10yro kids dont need to be able to simply click the iCloud/Download button for Grand Theft Auto 3, 99 problems from JayZ or anything else. Yes I watch what my kids have on their ipads and I monitor the time they use them and I have no concerns about their web surfing or YouTube watching, but I'd feel much better and would rather go thru typing my password every single time I make a download, either the first time I purchase it or again at a later time. Using iTunes for Windows I cant find any option for restricting my entire iTunes account with password protection for every download on any/every iDevice I own.
Cant I just put an account wide "require password" for EVERY download, even if I've already bought something on my ipad/iphone already? Or do I have to manually set this up on each ipad and create my own passcode lock for the Restrictions option? As I said, I dont mind doing this, I just think it would be easier to have an entire iTunes account restriction for downloading apps/music.

Hi jtvt7,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
Your post doesn't indicate what your other devices are, but one thing you can try is to delete the song from the device that is not working, and re-download it.
The article below explains how:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I hope this information helps ....

Do you know that there is an iPad user guide located in the bookmarks of the Safari Browser? It might come in handy for you.
    And here is another one.

And you can also download the free iPad user guide book in the free iBooks app on the iPad!

How do i make icloud work if my husband and I share the same itunes account but we dont want to get each others contacts, messages, apps etc?

Each of you should set up your separate iCloud account on your own computer using your Apple ID. This gives you two independent iCloud accounts.
Note that an iPad is not a multi-user device. It can only be synced with one account.

  • My daughter has an iPhone and some how we share an iCloud account and she's getting all my texts and contacts. I can't find where to uncheck her phone number on my phone account. Please help

My daughter and I both  have an iPhone and some how we share an iCloud account and she's getting all my texts and contacts. I can't find where to uncheck her phone number on my phone account so she doesn't get all my texts and contacts. Please help

    Hi Shellyk,
Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and make sure that only your personal email addresses are listed under the individual phone number.Remove the "shared" iCloud email address.
For the Contacts, if you are syncing them via iCloud and you both have the same iCloud account, you will both have the same Contact list.

  • Full ipod mini... how do i make it so I can still have all my songs on ...

how do i make it so that I can have all my songs on itunes, but only have some of them on my ipod?
there are those blue boxes with ticks in them, do they have anything to do with it?
    thanks
    xx

I the blue box is uncehcked and you open iTunes prefs -> iPod and select Update only checked songs, only songs with a check in front will get updated onto the iPod.
I only use the checkmarks for stuff like Christmas songs and such I only want rarely on the iPod.
If your library is too large to fit on the iPod, iTunes will create a playlist for you.
Here's how I do it instead.
    Create a Smart Playlist.
    Make it Match Rules;
My rating is not one star.
Not heard in last 3 days.
Limit it to 3700 MB (for a 4 GB mini).
Open iTunes prefs -> iPod and select Auto update only this playlist.
    Also, deselect Enable disk use.
When you want to change the music on the iPod, simply open the Smart playlist, select all the songs on it (ctrl A) and press delete.
They will all go away and it will fill up again. (It's a Smart Playlist)
Then connect the iPod to update it.
When listening, if there are songs you do not like, rate them one star and they will not get put back onto the iPod.

  • HT4914 If my phone's memory is full, mostly due to music, how can I make it to where my IPad holds all the music and remove all of it from my phone without losing any of it??

If my phone's memory is full, mostly due to music, how can I make it to where my IPad holds all the music and remove all of it from my phone without losing any of it? I recently got an iPad so I now use that as my main source as opposed to my Dell. Yes, I have a Dell that failed me. Miserably.

Sync your music from your computer to your iPad.  Then delete the music from your iPhone.

  • How do I make iCloud work between my Mac and my iPhone as suggested in the video's on Apple's website ?

I'm trying to share a set of Numbers projects between my MacBook and my iPhone.
I notice that iWork.com does NOT do what I am expecting from the Apple Video's : it only allows me to consult documents through Safari, but not to open one directly from iCloud.com in the appropriate app for editing ...
Through file sharing in iTunes it seems to work for one of the projects ... but another project which has multiple tabs and rather long tables doesn't open on my iPhone due to "unknown error" ...
Even then, the iTunes file sharing process can hardly be called seemless, and in no way even approaches what is suggested in the video's :
The video's suggest that when working on a file on one device, then picking up another device the file will show the changes ...
In reality here's what I have to do to make a change on the file on my Mac, share it with the iPhone, then change something on the iPhone and share it back with my Mac :
    1. save the changes to the document
    2. add the document to iTunes file sharing
    3. sync my iPhone
    4. open Numbers on my iPhone
    5. add the document from iTunes
    6. open it
    7. make a change
    8. sync the iPhone
    9. choose "save as ..." in iTunes to overwrite the copy on my Mac
    10. open the document in Numbers on the Mac
Guess what ... when making a new change, I have to go back in iTunes, delete the link to the document and add the document again in order to be able to share the change ...
I would expect the syncing with iTunes to at least take care of the file updating on the respective copies on Mac and iOS device ... apparently not so.
Anyone knows how to really make Documents In The Cloud work ?

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)
What am I doing wrong ?

  • How can I make iCloud Drive sync?

    Hi everyone,
I would very much like to use iCloud Drive but I can't get it to sync reliably. Last night I deleted 34 presentations from my iCloud Keynote folder on my MacBook Pro. This morning I booted up my iMac and the files were still there after an hour. Why were they not deleted when I started up my iMac? A few weeks ago I did a bigger experiment where I moved a number of project folders from the Documents folder of my home iMac to my iCloud Drive. Hours later on my iMac at work, most of the files were still not there (my work iMac is on all the time). I worked on one of the files, and when I got back home, it was not updated.
Any advice on how I can get iCloud Drive to work properly? I can't use it if it is this unreliable.
    Gregory

That is not supported. iCloud Drive is not meant as a "remote only" storage or backup, its main purpose is to give you access to all your documents across all devices and to update the documents across all devices. The local shadow copies will ensure that you have access to your document, even if you are not connected to the internet.

  • When trying to locate songs in my iTunes library, often when I find the song it asks me if I would like it to find other missing files. Sometimes it can't find other missing songs. How do I make sure that it is looking at all of my hard dirves?

Locating missing songs in my iTunes library. How do you make sure that all drives are being looked at for the missing songs?

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

  • HT1688 how do I make a downloaded song as my ringtone

I just downloaded a song and want to use it as my ring tone. How do I do that. Thanks

Here are the steps to creating a ringtone from a song using iTunes 11
Step 1: Trim the Song to a short ringtone
    1) Connect Your iPhone to your computer and Open iTunes
    2) Select the music folder and Drag the music file into iTunes
    3) Determine which part of the song you want to use as the ringtone
    4) Right click the music file in iTunes, select "Get Info", then Options
    5) Input the start time and end time of section of the song
Step 2: Create Ringtone from the Song
    1) Click on the menu icon on the top left corner of iTunes
    2) Go to Preferences, Import Settings, Make sure AAC encoder is selected, and click okay.  Then make sure "Tones" is checked, click okay.
    3) Right click the music file again and select "Create AAC version"
    4) Drag newly created file on to your desktop
Step 3: Rename Extension from .m4a to .m4r
    1) If you are using Windows PC, you need to first unhide File Extension before you can rename it. Go to the start menu, search and select "folder options"
    2) Click View and uncheck the checkbox beside "Hide Extensions for Known File Types", click apply and then okay
    3) Right click the file.  If you are using Windows, select "Rename". If on MAC, select "Get Info"
    4) Rename the extension from .m4a to .m4r
Step 4: Sync Ringtone into iPhone
    1) Select tones from the drop down menu, and then drag and drop the ringtone into iTunes
    2) Go to your iPhone library and select the tones tab
    3) Check the sync tones checkbox and click sync
    Hope this helps =)

  • How can I make Icloud my default calendar in Outlook

I moved to ICloud and if I get an invite and accept it then it automatically defaults to my standard Outlook calendar. Is there a way of maaking the ICloud calendar my deafult calendar ?

    Unbelievable.
I've been battling this problem for months, just like thousands of other people. I check back every so often, thinking someone will discover the magic fix or that Apple will update iCloud. No joy.
Clearly Apple has no intention of allowing iCloud to sync with Outlook's normal calendar or they would have fixed it by now. I can't imagine what their motivation is, but it's preventing Outlook users from adopting iCloud.
The workaround I've used for almost a year now is to replace iCloud with Google Docs and then install the gSyncIt plug-in to Outlook. My iPhone syncs with Google Calendar and Google Contacts fairly cleanly, and Outlook syncs with them as well, so it's more or less equivalent to what iCloud should be doing.
Shame on Apple. Anyone who says iCloud syncs with Outlook has obviously never used them together.
iCloud does not sync contacts or calendars with anything, not Outlook and not iCal, it is a subscription, and (except for Outlook) it can be the default (try EMClient on Windows)
It was Microsoft's decision to make Outlook the way they did, ask them to make the changes you want, or more sensibly, use Microsoft Exchange rather than iCloud, Outlook will allow that to be the default.

  • How do I make previously downloaded apps appear on the screen? Now, I have to open them in the App Store.

I just upgraded to iOS 7. My downloaded apps no longer appear on the screen; I have to open them from wihtin the App Store. How do I get them out of there? The only option I see when I call them up in the App Store is "open."
    Thanks.

Did you update your iOS via iTunes and the computer? If so, did you transfer purchases? Your Apps that were purchased via the App store on the phone should still be on the phone. Have you checked all of the home pages? Try a reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, see if they are back. If they are on the computer, you can also connect to iTunes and sync them back.
