How do I make my desktop MAC address book override the older addresses in my iPhone?

I have the iPhone 3g and a MAC desktop with snow leopard OS. I have updated iTunes. When I try to synchronize my address book between iPhone and MAC desktop, the new contact information from the desktop is not put into the iPhone. Is there an online tutorial that will show me how to do this? Another problem, when I try to edit contact information, the Edit menu won't let me delete whole contacts. Consequently, I have multiple phone numbers for a contact, some of which are old, some new...and I can't remember which, because I thought I had erased the old info. I want to be able to set the desktop to override the iPhone data, and vice versa, when I want to. By habit, I don't enter new data directly into my iPhone contact list; I do it from the desk top.
I would like to find online tutorial videos that show me how to use the various features of my iPhone. The online text tutorials aren't as helpful for me, when something goes wrong.

To make your computer overwrite your iPhone contacts, connect the phone to iTunes, select the Info pane and scroll to the Advanced section at the bottom and put a check by Contacts. Then sync.

I do not know of a way to change the default but after you click the star beside the address to add it to the address book, click the star a second time to open the edit dialog box. There is a drop down list of your address books to make the change there.

But as a user of Firefox on Linux I wouldn't want it to do that. If I already have a URL in there I often want to modify it and that's easy as it is. If I want to type a completely new URL I can double-click it to select the whole thing then just start typing - no need to hit delete.

You would have to delete the existing iCloud account and create a wholly new one - you cannot change the @icloud.com email address of the one you already have. To make a new one, you will also need an new AppleID as any AppleID can only have one iCloud account associated with it.
Deleting the account will not delete anything off your device (if prompted for things like contacts, choose to keep them). You will have to sync everything anew with the new account as you cannot move your sync'd content, your old backups or anything else from one iCloud account to another. You will have to set up sync again and let it sync to the new account, and then make new backups to the new account as well.

I don't have any problem with my system. My guess is there is something there you aren't quite getting. I'd recommend a visit to your Apple Store, AASP or to contact AppleCare so they can coach you personally.
You can also play with the Address Book Preferences. However to see how changing a Preference affects the Address Book drag the Preferences window off of the Address Book so you can see both the Preferences window and Address Book Windows. Then toggle a Preference and you will see it instantly changes in the Address Book.

If it's just the address book that should be different: in iTunes, you can specify for each device what it should sync. For your contacts, you can specify in iTunes which contact groups to sync (at least on my Mac using Address Book I can).
Does this mean I need to create separate contact groups in the same address book file or can I create a second file? I'd much rather use the second solution. The first solution would in fact mean creating three groups: "His", "Hers" and "Both". This is a shotcut for contact management nightmares!

How can I configure my new Mac Pro to output the timeline in FCP 7 (yes, I have X, but I'm using 7 right now). I have two monitors running from TB2, but want to have the third for a client monitor.
If I use all three via TB2, it's literally three monitors, and I want to edit on my CineDisplay. I only want the client to see the timeline video on the third monitor. When I hook up HDMI I get no signal, in fact, I can't have the HDMI cable hooked up for TB2 to work with the third.

How do I get Address Book to my email address book?

I made a new group in my address book. I think I did it correctly. I entered each name under contacts, made the group then dragged the names into the group. They don't look right in there...it is not just a list but shows the names like they are in the address book...under the correct letter. When I go to write an email to that group and click on address book in my mail, ithe group is not there. No changes go from the application address book to the address book in the mail app. What am I doing wrong?

If she is using the mail app, there doesn't appear to be a way to sync contacts directly with gmail. You might see if there is a way to export to a Mac desktop and then to use iTunes to sync the contacts to the iPad. Otherwise the contacts will have to be manually added to the iPad. Another option would be to use gmail's web based mail. Her contacts should be available from there.

Using the + button helped--should have been obvious, but I haven't been using it. It works but seems very cumbersome to add one at a time. I had another list of addresses that I could hold down the command button while selecting as many as desired, then click on BCC and double-click on just one of the addresses, and BCC would autofill with all of them. Unfortunately, when I installed the latest Mac system update, I lost that multiple address capability--it's always something!

To restore the Address Book to the initial stage, do the following:
With the Address Book application quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
Move the AddressBook folder to the Desktop.
Using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.AddressBook.plist. Move the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file to the Desktop.
Launch Address Book and it should be like launching it for the first time.
I like to move all assocated files to the Desktop first so in case something goes wrong and you want to restore things as they were, you can easily do so.
