How do I make my edits permanently visible?

I am trying to mark up a document but when I close and re open it the edits are hidden. There must be some way to fix this. I am using adobe acrobat pro.

Congratulations on your new laptop! Also, thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with transferring your iTunes Library to your new computer.
I notice that you are coming from the article “iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer,” and it sounds like you might have used the Home Sharing method outlined in that article.
With Home Sharing, you can stream content from another computer, and it sounds like that is how you have it currently set up. The last step is to import the content to your new computer. Use these steps on the new computer (while the old computer is on) to import the music to your new computer’s hard drive:
Once your new computer sees the Home Share from your old computer, click that Home Share on the left side of iTunes on your new computer.
Select the content in the Home Share that you want to transfer to your iTunes library on your new computer, or choose Edit > Select All to choose all of it. Then, click the Import button in the bottom-right corner of iTunes.
Wait for the content to finish transferring.
Additionally, if you want to transfer your playlists, you can export them from the old computer to the new computer:
Transferring playlists
If you want not only your content but also your playlists to exist on your new computer, you will want to transfer a copy of all your playlists from your old computer. To do this, choose File > Library > Export Library on your old computer. Save the XML file that is created to your desktop.
Send the playlists file to yourself as an e-mail attachment, use an external drive, or use file sharing to move the playlists file to your new computer. Once the file is on your new computer, open iTunes and choose File > Library > Import Playlist. The import process will remove any items from the playlists that you didn't share via Home Sharing.

How do I make screen arrangement permanent? I set it in system preferences -> arrangement tab, but it switches back after a reboot. I have 3 external monitors. One being driven by the DVI port and the other two by two USB display adapters (Display Link with latest drivers installed). I have the DVI monitor in the middle and the two USB monitors on both sides.

Here is a reply I posted about Dual Monitor problems on another thread, whereby Mountain Lion forgets the arrangment of the monitors, I wonder if a similar approach may work with your particular case?
Possible Solution.... needs testing, but initial trial has been successful. Does this work for anyone else?
There are two .plist files I have identified which record the screen arrangement:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist (top level library, not user library)
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.FE******-****-****-****-**********2E.plist
(user library, where *** are unique code) I think the first drives the system arrangment (e.g., login window at startup etc), and the second is a user's own setup.
I modified the screen and menu arrangement through System Preferences, which modified file (1).
Using a text editor I copied and pasted everything into a new blank document and saved as com.apple.windowserver.plistthen duplicated the file and named it as per file (2). *even though there were some minor differences.
I backed up and deleted the windowserver plists from both the system and user preference (ByHost) folders, including the lockfiles.
Moved my new documents into their respective folders and rebooted... windows appeared where they were supposed to. (I should mention that I moved the screen and menu arrangement back to the 'wrong' way first, which showed me that the files had indeed altered the arrangement).
The question is - will this now hold?
Perhaps locking the file / changing the permissions to prevent the system updating it might help IF the problem reoccurs?

How do I make "destructive edits" in Lightroom like I do in ACR?

I recently made the switch from editing in Adobe Camera Raw to Lightroom and am disliking some of the workflow. I really enjoyed how in ACR the edits to my photos would save as soon as I hit done. There are many times were I need to close out of my of editing software quickly and don't have time to export everything out of light room. So as the question states, how do I make Lightroom save the changes I make to photos instantaneously without having to export them?

I assume you are using XMP files with Camera Raw. You can do that with Lightroom if you choose the option to write changes to XMP sidecar files in your Lightroom preferences. But if you use a Lightroom with its default setup the adjustments you make are stored immediately in the catalog. You can stop and close Lightroom at any point, and when you return Lightroom will retrieve from the catalog all the adjustments you have made to whatever image you have highlighted in the develop module, or in the library module as far as that goes. I have chosen not to use XMP sidecar files, and rely on my catalog to store all of my Lightroom adjustments. Again, making an adjustment in Lightroom creates a history step in the catalog immediately. There's no need to export in order to keep all of your adjustments.
Incidentally, regardless of how you set up your workflow, you cannot make "destructive" edits using Lightroom. Your master images always remain unmodified as far as the file contents are concerned.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 to edit some video clips together, but it's super laggy. How do I make it so it's less laggy? Will putting my video files on an external harddrive work?
I'm using a MacBook Pro which is fast, but the video editor eats up my computer's speed like tiger.

Welcome to the forum.
First, what are the full specs. of those Video files? On a Mac, you can use the utility, Media Inspector, to get the full details.
What are the specs. of your MBP, and especially the CPU speed, and number of cores? The reason for this info, is that if you have any form of the H.264 CODEC in those Video files, you will need a very fast CPU to smoothly handle them.
As for the external HDD, that will depend entirely on the connection type/speed, and then the speed of the HDD itself - you want at least 7200RPM. For connection type, you want an absolute minimum of FireWire 800 (IEEE-1394b), and USB 3.0 (not USB 2.0), or eSATA will be even better. If you do not have H.264 material, then the I/O (Input/Output) will be the biggest bottleneck - with H.264, then the CPU is the biggest bottleneck.

How can I make the edited photo appear in my folder?

Hi! This is my first post here, and I've just acquired Lightroom after having worked with ACDSee Pro (currently v6) for some years. I love taking photos and editing them later if necessary.
I understand that LR works differently to ACDSee, with the catalogue and all, and I've successfully imported my picture folders into my new LR catalogue. What I haven't yet been able to grasp is what LR does with my edited photos. When I edit (develop) a picture in ACDSee, the edited version of that photo appears in my original folder as soon as I have finished editing it.
With LR, after having done my processing all I can see in my folder is the original, unedited picture. The edits are only visible in LR, but not anywhere else. I'd like to see the edited photo in my folder so that I can use it, for example, for screen saver slide shows. I don't want to go and look for this edited picture in any place other than its original folder, and neither do I want to have two copies of it, namely the original and the edited version, in that folder. All I care for at this point is the edited version since the original can be restored at any time from within LR, or at least I think this how it should be since that's how I did it with ACDSee if I wanted to go back to the original picture.
Is there any way I can achieve what I'm looking for with LR?

I don't think this is possible, given the normal way Lightroom works. You have the original (the image contained in this file is never modified by Lightroom) and you will have the export.
Note: you could instruct Lightroom to overwrite your original (if it was a JPG or TIF or PSD, but not a RAW), however this is extremely discouraged and your original would be gone. Your assumption "since the original can be restored at any time from within LR" is incorrect, that is not how Lightroom works if you overwrite the original JPG TIF or PSD (which of course is just one of several reasons why this approach is extremely discouraged).

PDFs are not designed to be editable. Your engineers can make comments using Adobe Reader without any extra steps provided they use the highlight and sticky note comments. If you want them to have access to the full range of comment markup you will need to use Acrobat to apply extended rights to the file.

This should do it:
1. Go to systems preference and click it. (it'll be under the top L hand side, click the apple logo and "System Preferences" will appear in a drop menu)
2. Go to Show All
3. Click Universal (round blue shape with a person logo)
4. Click Mouse
5. Go to Cursor size (at the bottom of the page) and adjust the size from normal to large. Watch your actual cursor on screen so you can see how big or small you're making it.
voila: a change of arrow or cursor size.

Okay, so this sounds simple, but I'm tottally lost... I'm a thirteen year old boy that has been using Flash for a little over 3 years. I program video games. I recently embarked on a game where one of the modes is to be split screen, player one gets the top half, player 2 the bottom. The promblem with this is that my game is based off of a moving background, where inorder to keep the main character centered the background moves instead of them. Becsause of this,when setting up split screen, the screen on the upper layer takes over the bottom because there would be more showing then there would be in the game: Parts would be off screen. I was wondering if there was anyway that using hitTest(s) (or some other method) you could make a movie clip partially visible/ invisible. I know the code for making something invisible when touching something else. But I was wondering if there was a way to make only the part of the movie clip touching another movie (it would have its alpha turned off... let's say it's a hitBox) or only the part of the movie clip touching the hitBox visible, invisible. Another way of looking at this is that I want a movie clip to be a small box, but inside I want their to be a huge picture. I want to make it so that when you move the picture different parts are viewable in this little box. And to make this as clear as I can... : I want to make a circle that I'll call the magnifying glass. I want to make an invisible picture that can be moved using code (I know that part). I want it so that when part of the picture is under the magnifying glass it's visible, not the hole thing, jus that circular area. Another reason I'd like to have this promblem solved is for a moving water effect. I want to make a movie clip and tween showing a square of rushing water, but without putting anything over parts of it (other than a hitBox) I want to make only a squiggly line of that water box visible. Thank you so much! =D I really hope you guys know! =D P.S. I also am currently using the trial of CS4, if that helps anything. I just wanted to explain that I want only the part of one mc touching another mc to be visible. I hope this isn't confusing. I have no need to enlarge an image. Well, when you add a component, it's size is 0,0 and it is located at the top left corner (0,0 point of its parent container). When you call pack(), the components are resized, and their placement is set.
So what you did wrong is that you're trying to repaint the panel1 - therefore panel2 never appears, since its dimension is 0,0.
THere's a solution though. Call the validate method of the container you add the component to - that is, jPanel1.validate() instead of its repaint method. Then panel1 will resize the components it contains. Then its not necessary to call the repaint, it'll be done automatically, because the container's graphics area is not valid any more after the validation.

I can temporarily set my Internet keyword search service to Google's Browse by Name service, but how can I make that setting permanent?

In about:config, keyword.enabled is set to "true," but keyword.URL is set to chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties I can modify it to http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q= but when I exit and then restart Firefox, the keyword.URL is back the way it was. How do I permanently fix this? With keyword.URL set to chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties, if I attempt an Internet keyword search, I get the error message, "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region"

I set the keyword.URL preference to the Google Search-by-Name URL, changed to the default theme, and then restarted in Safe Mode with add-ons disabled. When I then checked keyword.URL, it had changed back to the "chrome:" setting.
I set keyword.URL again and then disabled all plug-ins, exited Firefox normally, and restarted in Normal Mode. Again, keyword.URL had reverted to the "chrome:" setting.
I then reset keyword.URL, left all the plug-ins disabled, and restarted in Safe Mode. Once again, keyword.URL had reverted to the "chrome:" setting.
Sorry to be so clueless, cor-el, but I'm afraid I don't know what a locale is. I tried to read your link to mozillaZine, but it kept timing out after 30 seconds. Is that because of too much volume? So are you saying that my current locale is supposed to reset the keyword.URL preference from the "chrome:" setting to some valid value, but that isn't happening? What else could cause this besides a bad extension, theme, or plug-in?
