How do I make my old user account perform like the new one?

I have a macbook pro 13" 2008 with 8 gb of ram that has been showing stuttering in hd video lately (or maybe when i upgraded to lion). I created another user and it doesn't seem to suffer any stuttering. Perhaps it doesn't have weird things running the background like the 655mb kernal task I see in activity monitor. My question is, how do I make my old user account perform like the new one? I've tried to turn off things running the background, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Thanks!

Do the following:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless using iCloud Photo Library). When finished goThen go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Just got a new MacMini. Migrated files using Time Machine. However, now, on Launchpad, I see several Firmware updates that were relevant for the old machine, but not for the new one. How do I get rid of these updates? They won't delete!

Will old iMac problems transfer to the new one?

My present Intel iMac is having firewire issues and past its warranty, so I'm going for a new iMac. In an effort to try and salvage the old one I wiped everything clean, reinstalled the the OS and restored from a Time Machine backup. Now I'm having problems that weren't there before, like not being able to open Mail, iTunes, or Safari.
The new iMac arrives on Monday, but I'm worried that whatever is wrong with the old computer will transfer into the new one. Any ideas on how to avoid this?

That's a good thought on the 3rd party apps. I'm taking inventory of all my disks and downloadable Apps now, and removing them so I can individually reinstall them on the new machine.
I checked out the permissions and everything seems to be OK. But still no luck on the those three apps. Mail opens, but crashes as soon as I try to read a message. And iTunes and Safari can't stay open at all. Interestingly enough, I'm trying other Mac apps like iCal, Garage Band and iPhoto and they're all still good.

I migrated my old iMac to my new 27" iMac and did it wirelessly via the internet and it took ages. Apple support told me to do it this way because my old iMac is 400 Firewire and my new one only has 800 Firewire and I only had a 400 Firewire cord.
I was told to choose the no I don't want to migrate when I went through registering my computer. I then got it set up with internet and then went into Migration Assistant. I told the woman I spoke too that it was going to create a problem with my old user account and she said I could just delete it.
Here is my dilemma. My old user account is called Pink Tuley (which has all my information, documents etc. on it), I created a new account called Tuley and you guessed it it's a shell with nothing there. All my stuff in on Pink Tuley and when I go to MacintoshHD users and locate my Pink Tuley folder there are a bunch of folders that I can't open (they have that red circle with a white bar in the middle of them). How do I make Pink Tuley my main account or get all the Pink Tuley stuff onto my new Tuley account? I hope there is a way to figure this out.

I forgot my phones Apple ID password and along with that forgot my password to my email account. I use my work email so thats why i dont really know the email i created for my phone.
So I created a new email and a new Apple ID online but when i put it the new Apple ID in my phone it says its incorect and shows my username as my old email that i had. If that made any sense my entire question is how do i erase my old apple id on my phone and replace it with the new one i submittes online?

I just ordered a new 1TB hard drive to replace my very small hard drive in my 17" MacBook Pro.
I've looked around at some of the discussions and apparently I need to format the new hard drive first. I am not so great with this techy stuff. Can someone briefly help me and explain exactly how I am supposed to do this? Like I take my old hard drive out first put the new one in.... format it. Take it out put the old one in... somehow copy it... agh confused...

If you have a time machine back up of your current drive you can do this
Shut down your computer, install the new drive. While the computer is off plug in the external hard drive that you have your time machine back up on. Hold Option key while the computer turnes on, let go of the option key once you get a grey screen. Shortly after you'll see a list of bootable drives, select the one that has your time machine back up on it and boot into that drive.
From there go into disk utility, format your new drive too, osx extended journaled ( I think, double check that, its been awhile since ive had to do this), hit format
Exit disk utility and then you can use time machine to copy all your exisit data to the new hhd and then your pretty much done.
There is also a program called Carbon Cloner that will do esentially the same thing however I've never uesed it.
