How do I make OS X Server a WINS Server?

I was unable to find an answer in these support forums. The answers I found with Google showed example for older versions of OS X Server with a control panel with a WINS setup. Therefore I believe this works, or at least worked in a previous version of OS X Server. I am running Mac OS X 10.8.3 and the server App is 2.2.1. I don't see anywhere to specifically setup WINS. I am using an Airport Extreme as the router.
I would like to use my Mac Mini running Mac OS X Server to host a Windows workgroup. For that, there needs to be WINS server that essentially hosts a WINS database with the IP addresses and the NetBIOS names, over IP.
The Windows workgroup feature would allow me to better share files and printers in a mixed environment of Mac, Windows and FreeBSD.

You're headed for some eventual trouble here, and Microsoft is recommending a migration from what you're using.
In particular, AFAIK WINS and related NetBIOS and Domain Controllers are all being discouraged by Microsoft, and accordingly then largely also fading out on most (all?) other platforms, too.
Some replacements for finding network services on various platforms include mDNS (Bonjour) and Dynamic DNS (DDNS). OS X and OS X Server can support both mDNS and DDNS.
Current distributed authentication services include Windows Active Directory and the Samba 4 AD support, and LDAP authentication such as that of Open Directory on OS X and of various other systems.

CIFS on OES2SP3 not registering as server on WINS server - Unable to obtain server list from CIFS server.

Running OES2P3 cifs on SLES10SP4. This server is on it's own subnet
connected via a router to the other subnets, with the rest of the
servers. Name resolution and CIFS file access does work, but browsing
does not work. I found that the server registers the workstation
service with the WINS server, but not the server service. Adding a a
static WINS entry enables netbios name resolution. But due to the
unability to obtain a server list from the CIFS server (a packet trace
shows, that the request for the server list from the OES CIFS server is
answered by the server with an unspecified server error) browsing does
not work.
Is browsing supported by OES2 CIFS like it is in SAMBA or does it need
another server as browser to allow browsing to work?

Abdetu..Playing around with the SGA and PGA parameters is not an simple task, any misconfiguration might slow down your server even more than it might speed it up.
It has special calculation formulas which vary from system to another, you need to take into consideration the SQLs most frequently executed, use statspack to gather statistics, maybe the slow performance is coming from a missing index?? it can be.

What do I need to do to make HD2 on my new Mac Mini server useable for Time Machine on my MacBook Pro? I can access the server, but HD2 is not visible, although I have set it up to let everyone have read/write permission.

FWIW, I personally would not use any disk drive that is internal
to a Mini for a backup of anything. The reason for that is if something
should happen to the Mini, your backup will be unavailable. And of
course, that is when you will need the backup, Murphy's Law. getting a
drive out of a Mini is no small task.
Personally, I keep any backups on external drives, as they can be
easily moved and replaced.
The only case where I would keep a backup internal to a computer
would be in the case of a Mac Pro where you can easily remove and
swap hard drives.
Just something to consider.

I haven't found this anywhere so if anybody knows if it's been posted just send me that direction. I have a G3 450mHz B&W that I have my itunes library on. What I want to do is use it as an Itunes server so that I can run it from another computer a G4 533mHz Digital Audio. I planned on using the ITRC freeware application. However, when I put in the password for my itunes it gives me an error so I must be missing something. Any help would be appreciated and sorry if this is a stupid question.

If your system is running on a SPS lower than the one required above, you have to apply the minimum required SPS before upgrading/migrating to SQL Server 2012.
If you install a NetWeaver product on SQL Server 2012, the required SPS for your product must be applied immediately after the installation - see SAP note 1676665, section I for more information.
But performing the Upgrade would be technically possible? I mean not for productive use but technicaly during that time the Database is Upgrade and during SUM Execution.
According to the note it states if you install a Netweaver Product in SQL Server 2012, SPS must be applied immediately, so is kinda ambigous what SAP is saying.

Hi Martin,
For a test scenario, there's no harm in trying it (other than spending a lot of time on it, but hopefully that will prove not to be a waste). Generally, I expect you'll be fine upgrading your DBMS even though you aren't on the required minimum SP yet. The main thing you'll be missing out on is the updates to DBACOCKPIT, but once you do your EhP upgrade (with sps update included), you'll be putting that in place.
So, you could try this on your sandbox system and see if there are any problems. I assume the intent is to start the EhP upgrade as soon as the DBMS upgrade is done, right? In other words, you won't be actually using the system without the required SP except to run the EhP upgrade?
Alternatively, you could do a minimal support pack update, perhaps just a Basis SP only, to the minimum SP needed for your current release, then do the DBMS upgrade, then proceed with the EhP upgrade. This would be the safest procedure, but, as I said, I expect you can probably get away without going to this level without much problem. Again, the idea would be minimizing the time between the start and end of the total project on each system (DEV, QAS, PRD, etc).

How to Migrate Win Server 2008 to Win Server 2012 if PDC server no longer exist?

With this being Foundation (less than 15 users) with some problems already, it might be smarter to just start the new server fresh.

I took over a small business company's network infratructure with Server 2008 Foundation and I would like to migrate to a new Windows Server 2012 r2.The Server 2008 Foundation is a DC with AD / DHCP / DNS / File & Print Server roles. I would like to transfer these roles to the new server with Win Server 2012 r2 std OS. My plan is to join the new server to the old DC, promote it as DC, and transfer roles to it, demote old server and power off.However, there was an older server (Windows 2003) which is no longer in the office and it was the current operations master. The server 2003 was the PDC. When I open AD Domains and Trusts I get this error:"You cannot modify domain or trust info because a PDC emulator cannot be contacted.."Maybe the FSMO roles wasn't transferred over from 2003 to 2008 properly? I don't know.How can I move forward to...

The clients can connect and talk to the server fine, but how can I make the server talk to one, two or all clients? i.e. what would be a good way to implement this?
Currently, the server listens for connections like this:

I guess one way would be to add the ServerThreads to a Hashtable with the client ID as key, and then get the ServerThread with the proper client ID, but this seems unnecessary complicated. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. For years I have been able to delete emails from my ipad and have them remain on the server so I can deal with them on the desktop. Now they get deleted from the server when deleted from the ipad, which makes the ipad unless for reading mail.
You answered to delete the email account on the ipad and set up a new one as a pop. I have made many attempts to do that in the incomping mail server "Host Name" field but it always errors out even when the host name is equal to what my desk top has. So I can see no way to change away from IMAP. I started with an ipad 1 and now have an ipad 2.

I have several web/ejb applications. These applications use some common libraries and should share instances of classes from those libraries.
But applications are being deployed independently thus packaging all them to EAR is not acceptable.
I suppose the problem is that each application uses separate class loader.
How can I make AS use single class loader for a set of applications?
Different applications depend on different libraries so I need a way that will not share library for all applications on the domain but only for some exact applications.
When I placed common jar to *%domain%/lib* - all works. But that jar is shared between all applications on the domain.
When I tried to place common jar to *%domain%/lib/applibs* and specified --libraries* attribute on deploying I got exception

You didn't specify which version of the application server you are using, but the config is similar as long as you know what to look for. Basically, you need to change the classloader delegation. Here's how it is done in 8.2
