How do I make the Digital Camera Raw update go away?

I have no idea what 'RAW' is, so this update is useless to me. But it won't go away, not even after I try to hide it. It won't hide! How can I fix this?

Just install it anyway. It's a tiny download and it's not worth stressing yourself over.
'RAW' in this case is referring to the raw image data from a Digital Camera's image sensor. Since each camera's sensor works differently, the RAW format differs for each camera, and support updates have to be released occasionally.
You may think you don't need this update, but it is not as pointless as you think.

  • Digital Camera RAW Update 5.02 breaks Sony RX100 lens distortion correction (AGAIN!)

Just like with the Digital Camera RAW Update 4.08, the latest 5.02 update breaks the Sony RX100 lens distortion correction again. I'm reverted back to 5.01 until this is fixed.
From your Time Machine backup, restore the previous versions of
    /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle
    /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCameraSupport.bundle

Yes, I noticed it too, but I wasn't certain it was 5.02 that did it as I sold my RX100 and haven't processes any files for a while. Then as part of the NR discussion here I looked at some old RX100 files, and the distortion correction now disappears. Unfortunately I can't really revert to 5.01 because I was waiting on the A7 support 5.02 brought.
Apple are aware of it, so hopefully the fix will be quick to arrive.

  • How do I get the latest camera raw for Lightroom 4.2?

How do I get the latest camera raw for Lightroom 4.2?

You simply run the updater. if there is a newer version, it will be installed. Other than that 4.2 is the latest release version, 4.3 is currently in the final testing stages and can be downloaded from the Adobe Labs pages.

Because something is wrong.  Most likely, either:
    (1) your Mac OS X Startup disk is damaged and you need to repair or reinstall OS X,
         - or -
    (2) you are not following the correct update workflow and should use the help from this Apple article.
For instance, if you are trying to update via  > Software Update..., restart Mac and download and install the Download Center version: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.04.

  • HT4757 I have a Nikon CoolPix P80.  Am I correct that this is simply not a sophisticated enough model to be covered by the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Updates?  It is never listed.  Thank you.

I have a Nikon CoolPix P80.  Am I correct that this is simply not a sophisticated enough model to require the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Updates?  It is never listed.  Thank you.

Raw is the raw data from the camera sensor, before it is turned into a jpg.  From what I can tell looking at the specs for the P80, it does not have Raw mode. Therefore it will not show up in the compatibility table.

  • HT4757 Can the digital camera RAW compatibility update 3.13 work for iPad?

Trying to transfer photos from my Nikon 3200 to iPad using the camera kit.  Can the digital camera RAW compatibility 3.13 update work for iPad?  Attempts to download it directly to iPad sends it to Evernote and then message comes up that synchronization failed.  Not a tech geek by any means so if you can help, please explain as simply as possible.  Thanks much.

  • Installed digital camera raw update 3.8, but Aperture doesn't recognize Oly E-P3 raw files

I was excited to see that the digital camera raw compatibility update 3.8 purported to provide support for Olympus E-P3 raw files. I installed it from Software Update, and Aperture 3.1.3 (OSX 10.6.8) still showed the raw files as "unsupported". I restarted my Mac, got the same result. I downloaded and installed the standalone update, and again got the same result. Has anyone else had success with the update?

I found a solution. My E–P3 raw files still showed up as “unsupported” after reinstalling the update from the standalone updater. I discovered that selecting one of the “unsupported” raw files and having Aperture reprocess it (even though it had never been processed at all) made the file recognizable by Aperture and allowed me to make adjustments to it. I then reprocessed all of my E–P3 raw files and the only problem I have noted is that the vertical files were not auto rotated.
In reprocessing the raw files, I selected "only photos without adjustments" and "reprocess existing images". I hope this helps anyone who experienced this problem.

  • Digital Camera Raw update 4.02

is out in software update. I don;t see it on the Apple site yet however.
    This from software update

Discovered that the problem exists only with E-PM2 RAW files imported into Aperture before applying Digital Camera Raw Update 4.02. (I had been shooting RAW+JPEG since getting the camera, while waiting for RAW support.
    Found a solution:
Select all the problem files. Choose "Reprocess Originals" from the Photos menu. Done.

  • What is the latest camera raw update for CS5?

I'd like to know the latest camera raw update for CS5 to support Sony a6000 raw files. I'd also need to know how to update the plugin.

The last version of Camera Raw that you can use with Photoshop CS5 is Camera Raw 6.7. To have support for your camera you would need Camera Raw 8.4 or newer. You have a few choices:
    1. Use DNG converter 8.4 or newer to create DNG copies of your raw files and edit those in Photoshop CS5.
    2. Subscribe to the creative cloud photography plan and to get the latest Photoshop and Lightroom.
    3. Add Lightroom to your workflow by purchasing a standalone license for Lightroom 5.

  • How do I change the CS6 Camera Raw to the CS5 mode?

Hello! I prefer to edit my RAW photos with the CS5 Camera raw interface, ie Fill Light instead of Highlights/Whites, ect... I see that when I open or apply an older CS5 preset to a raw in CS6, the interface switches back to the CS5 interface, which is great, and shows its possible. So how do I open new raw files in CS6 using the CS5 interface as default?

    Well...
First, you probably don't want to do that.
Secondly, you don't want to do that.
But if you still want to do that, go over to the Camera Calibration tab and choose a different Process.
Then you can Save New Camera Raw Defaults
But you really don't really want to do that.
I suggest you think twice about changing your default to an older Process Version, because there are a lot of things the old process did poorly that the new one does much better.
I assume you want the old process because you like the way the controls work better, but it's well worth taking the time to get used to the new controls.  It really is.

  • I am using Lightroom 4.4,  I recently downloaded the latest Camera Raw update, 8.8.  Will it work with LR 4.4?

I recently downloaded the most recent Camera Raw update, 8.8.  Will it work with LR 4.4?  My current Camera Raw plug-in does not recognize my new Canon 100-400mm lens.

Quote "I have downloaded the most recent DNG converter. I guess I was mistaken in thinking I could use this as a plug-in with LR.  If I understand correctly, I need to convert image files taken with the new lens with the DNG converter and then load them in LR 4 in order to use the Lens Correction feature in LR.  Does that sound correct?"
No, as far as I am aware the only function that the DNG Converter performs is to convert the raw files from a supported digital camera model to a DNG file format.
This will allow you to work with the DNG files in earlier versions of Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw that do not provide support for the particular camera model raw files. It has nothing to do with Lens profiles.

  • Digital Camera Raw Update

TUAW reports there's a new update to support more digital cameras. I didn't see a thread here, so I thought I'd share in case some of you were waiting for support.
Apple has released Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.1 via Software Update. The update can also be downloaded here. The 6.77 MB (web) or 7.2 MB (Software Update) update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.6.2, and extends RAW image compatibility for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '09 for the following cameras:
    o. Hasselblad H3DII-50
    o. Leica M9
    o. Leica X1
    o. Olympus E-P1
    o. Olympus E-P2
    o. Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
    o. Pentax K-7
    o. Pentax K-x
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A500
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A550
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A850

I am running Aperture 2, and iPhoto 09, with a Pentax Kx.
Either the 3.1 update, or the ProKit upgrade, killed reading of my DNG files in Aperture.
Although Software Update shows them as recommended for iPhoto 9 and Aperture users, I would suggest passing on them if you are still in Aperture 2.

  • Digital Camera RAW update 2.1 (requires 10.5.3) XSi/450D support:

Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.1
About Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.
This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D
    Epson R-D1
    Leaf AFi 7
    Leaf AFi 6
    Leaf AFi 5
    Pentax K200D
    Pentax K20D

Firstly, the best method I have found (superior to Adobe Import/Convert/Export) is to install the software from the A300 CD - I know, blasphemy. Anyhow, you can delete all except for the RAW Image Converter, which lets you do raw editing, its decent, and then export into whatever file type and size that is convenient for you, though its not the same as native Raw support, I know.
Quirks: Not many, its a great camera, I've had mine for about a month and a half now. The AF Assist light drains battery like an electric car, and I can't say that I totally appreciate the inability to invert the focus ring direction. Ergonomics whilst wearing glasses is mediocre at best and your screen will get dirty - you'll have to deal with it. Otherwise, its absolutely an amazing camera, DO NOT RETURN YOURS!!! As you can see, there are a few quirks, but if I were to write down its positives above cameras prices three times as much, the list would take up pages. keep it, its too good to care for the little things like that.
