How do I make the system clock visible on all screens - including when I am in full screen mode

New to the Mac OS . . . I want a clock that persists. Yes I can mouse near the top and see the clock but I have to move the cursor each time I want to see the clock.
I tried a few floating clocks - but none of the ones I tried are visible in full screen mode.
Is there a setting in Mavericks that will make the clock visible all the time?

Your best bet might be to set up the clock in Dashboard so you just have to press F12 to see it and dismiss it, even in full screen apps, without having to move your cursor.

The Flash Player plugin normally should block the system from going to sleep, reducing display brightness, or going to screen saver when you use its full screen mode. It's strange that you have this issue with Flash.
There are some workarounds, like using an add-on or external program that simulates moving your mouse, but those really shouldn't be necessary.

By the way, have you shut down and restarted Windows since this problem first occurred? Just in case some shared component of Windows has crashed.

When I combine multiple pdf files into a single binder, Acrobat creates a bookmark for each file. In the properties for each bookmark, there is an action created to go to the page in the document and has the zoom level at "fit width". Question is, how do I change this apparent default zoom level to "fit page" when Acrobat creates the bookmarks when combining the pdf files?

Is there a way to do it in one step instead of individually on each bookmark? This gets VERY cumbersome when I have upwards of a hundred bookmarks to change.

I was not aware of the fact one could use ringtones as alarms, this will suffice! Although I foresee some very awkward times as the sound does not stop once I respond to the reminder (it keeps going for good five - ten seconds after I "stop" the reminder), but it's better than missing it altogether!

-Modular747: I don't know anyone who actually reads the terms of service agreement, those things are usually up to thirty, small print pages full of legal jargon. Rules, I do read - not the legal documents (also they often contradict the laws in my country, but that's a whole different story).
I agree with you - the average customer support consultant mostly cares about keeping his job and earning his salary (don't we all?) and thus racking up completted tasks (i.e. getting rid of customers as fast as possible - in a good mood). The "threat" none the less is real, if a cell phone causes me more trouble than it is worth, I will indeed throw it away (I have done so before) - and recommend a different brand to anyone willing to listen.
Don't get me wrong, I love Apple and I've been faithfully using and recommending their producs for twenty years now, not because of fanboyism, but because they earned it. This calendar issue, however, is like a toaster that doesn't automatically eject the toast at the set time. I see it as a major flaw and after googling around a bit I see that it's been around since at least 2007 (THAT'S SEVEN YEARS!!) so I strongly believe they are aware of this problem by now, but are choosing to ignore it for some mysterious reason and it really ****** me off.

OK I have to say this even though you probably realize it, having anything but mount points in the Volumes folder, especially regular files that are critical to you is really a bad bad idea.
You should do everything in your power to correct this asap.
In the meantime as to Time Machine, your profile says you are running 10.6.8 is that correct? TM has changed some since then.
Basically if you are not excluding system files from the backup the Volumes folder should be in the backup. If the regular files are in there is an other issue.
You can check by opening a Terminal window cd to your TM backup drive then into the .backup folder. Pick a backup and see if the Volumes folder is there and if the files are in it.
But again having anythgin in there is going to be a problem.

In a helpset with multiple chms, how do you make the master toc appear in all child chms?

I'm using RoboHelp 11. The software product I'm documenting is modular so the help is also divided into many chms (requirement). One of the other requirements is that the TOC from the master project appear, no matter which which chm contains the link called by the software. I've done this with merged WebHelp (kudos to Peter Grainge), however I haven't been successful doing it for HTML help using RoboHelp. Has anyone attempted this successfully? Any tips would be appreciated.

This requires you to make the following changes:
In each of the projects, open the window being used to display the CHM. Click Advanced Properties and enter the file name of the master project's TOC in the "Table of Contents" field.
Having compiled all the files, open up the Master project's .HHP file in Notepad. Look for the [MERGEDFILES] section. This should have a list of all the CHMs that make up the final deliverable. It has been some time since I've used CHMs, so I can't remember if you have to do this in all the projects. Try it in the master project first and you'll find out if you do.

How do I reformat the size of images and text on page to fit in normal full screen?

Recently my computer crashed due to age. I can reboot the system and have done so reinstalling all programs using Windows. I have Firefox that I use but my homepage is set to aol as this is my email address. IT was on Sunday evening Dec. 26th that my computer was rebooted after having been out of commission for a month. I just did not have time to do it sooner due to holidays. My problem is that when I got my homepage, which was the Mozilla Get Started introductory page, the images were absolutely huge. I can see what I am supposed to, however, it looks like the images have been zoomed in so many times. I don't like this. I want my pages to display images as normal size for full screen mode. I have tried using the View tab and choosing the zoom option, but it does virtually no good-if I zoom out you can still see things like images but print is too tiny and blurry. Again, never have I enlarged the font, pics, or anything else for the matter. I like my settings on fonts to be standard (10-14) depending on what I am seeing. I don't understand why this happened. This is the first time I am seeing this issue ever and need help. If I want to see all of my page I have to scroll horizontally and vertically in order to see it all. I want to see it all at one time. I have never encountered this problem before. Can anyone help me? I would appreciate someone contacting me soon via email of [email protected] denoting to me an appointment time I can log on and get live chat help for this. Please let me know if this can be done or if I need to just try to live with it. This should do it:
1. Go to systems preference and click it. (it'll be under the top L hand side, click the apple logo and "System Preferences" will appear in a drop menu)
2. Go to Show All
3. Click Universal (round blue shape with a person logo)
4. Click Mouse
5. Go to Cursor size (at the bottom of the page) and adjust the size from normal to large. Watch your actual cursor on screen so you can see how big or small you're making it.
voila: a change of arrow or cursor size.

Right mouse on the graph and select common plots. Under there you can select how you want to display your information. After selecting the display with points, you can go further down the list to Point Style to choose circles,squares etc....

Also, I believe the size of the strip silence window has something to do with the length of the region you are editing.

when I create a popup, the window in the background becomes unvisible as long as the popup is not closed. how can I make the background window become visible when the popup is open? I can hardly believe, that such a basic feature is not supported. But on the other hand, I also have some problemes with the sizing of the pop up...

How can I make the status bar always visible in safari? Even when I go to "View" and then select "show status bar," the status bar still disappears unless my cursor is hovering over it. I want to be able to see the time, battery life etc. while surfing the web in safari!

When Safari is in FullScreen mode, menu bar will be hidden.
Safari window to fit the screen?
Move the mouse pointer to the bottom right corner of the Safari window.
Double arrows will appear. Drag it to resize the window to fit the screen.
