How do I making a photo slideshow then subsequently buring to DVD?

I have just purchased PSE Premier 12 thinking I could make a photo slideshow then burn it to DVD. However it appears that I can only make a video/movie type presentation which results in terribel graphics (blurs what are actually very sharp photos) and will not allow me to specify the transition time between photos. Would appreciate some help here or have I got the wrong product? thanks.

Title Issue apparently in Quick Workspace
Let us assume that you have 4 photos that are already in the Quick Filmstrip scene spaces 1, 2, 3, and 4 and that you want a title page before photo 1 in scene space 1
Text Menu/New Text/Default Text
Create your title in the Titler, note that the title is automatically placed in the text bar as a purple bar.
With the mouse cursor, left click and drag the purple bar down and to the left of the first photo in the first scene space of the Filmstrip. Drag the title there until you see a vertical green line to the left of the first photo in the first scene space of the Filmstrip.
Then release the mouse click to view your title page at the beginning of the Filmstrip line up.
Note I have demo'd this with version 11, same for version 12.
So that you will have a project adaptable to higher resolution end products at a future time, I am suggesting the following
Premiere Elements 12 Project Preset Set Manually
File Menu/New/Project
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
before you exit the new project dialog, please a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project".
Back in the Premiere Elements 12 workspace, Edit Menu/Preferences/General
Set Video Transition Duration 90 frames (equivalent to 3 seconds in your 30 fps system)
Set Still Image Duration 300 frames (equivalent to 10 seconds in your 30 fps system)
Then import your photos (1920 x 1080 16:9) into the project, using Add Media/Files and Folders
Since you are in the Quick workspace which does not have Project Assets (files go directly to Filmstrip), I suggest that you order your sized photo in a folder and then import the folder into the project with Add Media/Files and Folders.
As for transitions (all the same), select all the photos, go to Timeline Menu/Apply Default Transitions. The duration of each will be as per the preference setting beforehand. These transition duration can be adjusted by double clicking the transition at the Filmstrip level, and making the adjustment in Transition Adjustments dialog pop up.
Please review the details for the IrfanView and Microsoft Office Picture Manager for cropping/resizing. Explore and experiment on a mini test scale before the grand project.
Looking forward to your results.
Thanks.

How do i create a photo slideshow or fading slidshow for the welcome page in iweb

There are trillions of slideshows to be found on the internets.
Download the one you like, make it work the way you want and put it on the server.
Display it in the browser to see if it looks the way you want.
Then use the <iframe> html element to display it in a HTML Snippet.

How can I share a photo slideshow?

You turn on Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane:
Check the box "Automatic Upload" to add every photo imported into the library to the Photo Stream.  Or leave it unchecked and manually add just selected photos to the stream by dragging them onto the Photo Stream heading in the left hand pane.

Does anyone know of a good online video instruction on how to put together a photo slideshow in the new iMovie 11 version. I found uTube videos using imported videos, but I want to use photos in iPhoto. I'm very familiar with how to do this in the pervious version, but it's no so intuitive in the new version.

Has anyone tried this one.. I am not sure if I am allowed to post information about other products... so if I am not please delete this part of my message.

  • Photo Slideshow - to play on TV/DVD player.

I've been trying to create a photo slideshow that I can play on the TV's DVD player.
All I want is just for the photos to appear & me to then manually move them on as & when required. (as they do, if I burn them from the folder straight to the DVD)
When I tried exporting straight from iPhoto to the DVD, the files grew quite spectacularly (am assuming they'd been decompressed to show on screen, then recompreseed to export, hence both losing quality & expanding size [my fault; I said I wanted them high quality ... cos I didn't think I wanted to compress them more!) Result was that I could do what I wanted (i.e. manually advance them), but due to size, nearly died of boredom waiting for them to open!
So, I thought I'd try iDVD. They opened much quicker, though auto forwarded & also wanted to play music. (The latter could be got over by using the mute button - though from a size point of view, clearly better without it)
I can't seem to find any handy hints that tell me how to disable the auto play; is there one particular theme that I need to try to use?
Or, am I better going to my import folder & just dragging those I want to the DVD & doing it that way?? (I import them to the hard drive, before using iPhoto, so have them outside as well as inside iPhoto [am wanting to make sure that if I ever revert to a PC again, i won't have all my photos linked to iPhoto])

All I want is just for the photos to appear & me to then manually move them on as & when required. (as they do, if I burn them from the folder straight to the DVD)
One way of achieving that is to make each photo a separate chapter, but iDVD has a 99 chapter limit.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD, but they all have one thing in common: they reduce the quality of the photos to that of a movie still frame and sometimes limit the number of photos you can use.
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie 6 as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

  • How do I make a Keynote slideshow controllable in an iDvd DVD?

How do I make a Keynote slideshow controllable on an DVD made with iDVD? And how do I make the slideshow completely auto with no return to a theme. I want people to be able to start the slideshow when they insert the DVD (no theme) and advance through the Keynote slide show (with all transitions, etc.,) by pressing a button on the remore controller to show eack slide - and advance at their option. Then they should have the option to repeat the slide show. Currently, the slideshow plays all the way through - and then pops into a theme intro - which I don't want. I thought it was set to run without a theme with my setting in the "Map" menu.I have exported a Quicktime version of the slideshow from Keynote which is completely controllable (slide by slide) on my MacBook Pro, but just runs straight through from an iDVD DVD. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help which I badly need...

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I save a photo and then find it again?

    Hi,
I have 70 photos in my library. All I want to do is save one photo to put on ebay. I have tried everything to save it and then try to find it later, but I can't figure it out. You know how easy it is to just save a word document and then hit browse and instantly find what you're looking for. That's what I want to do.
I called Apple care and they always just tell me to go to Support and read. I've read for 2 hours and still don't know the answer. They are never any help to me, and to think I paid all that money!!!
Can I save a photo in my documents so it is easy to find? The answer to this is probably very simple, but I am old and have a hard time figuring out things.
    Please, someone, enlighten me!!

    Hi penny,
    Select the photo in iPhoto
    Go to Share>export
In the export window you can input the size dimensions and choose your naming scheme.
    Export to the desktop
Use the photo on the desktop to upload to ebay.
When you are done uploading you can delete the photo on the desktop.

  • How/where to get more photo slideshows template/designs?

I am trying to use iPhoto and iMovieHD to do some photo slide shows. Like to know where I can purchase/download more slideshow templates?
    Thanks

    khswoo:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can't as there are none. You might look at PhotoPresenter. It works with iPhoto and has some spectacular 3D themes. They can be saved to Quicktime if you need to add to iDVD. Worth a run of their demo.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • How do I put a photo slideshow on my Phone ?

I have checked the manual, sought help and I still have a problem    I can get photos to sync back on my phone from my computer but I have a problem getting a slideshow to sync.    I thought it might be the format but my slideshow program has a tab for putting it in I_Phone format.   It still wont copy back to my phone.

If you're using a program to do it, you should check with the program developers for their advice.

  • How do I save/export a slideshow for showing on a DVD player?

What are the magical settings that let me create a DVD of an iPhoto slideshow, so I can play it in my DVD (Blu-Ray incidentally) through my flat-screen TV?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Making a picture slideshow to watch on my dvd..need some help please =)

I'm trying to gather pictures and make a simple slideshow with just one menu. Where as I would put the the dvd in the dvd player, a menu will come up, I press play, and then the dvd slideshow starts to play. I'm only putting a few pictures that would fit with one song. I've tried so many times creating a new project and the Magic idvd option. Somehow I get lost when it comes to the Drop zones. It would say there are 2 menus. I've searched the internet and I can't seem to still understand! So confused!! I hope someone can give me some direction!! Thanks!!

  • How to create a photo slideshow in imovie 11

describe how to create a 200 photo slideshow from the start using imovie 11 with titles, transitions and music and then burn it to a dvd

iMovie is to edit movies; creating a slideshow is easier in iPhoto. When finished, you can then move it to iMovie or iDVD to create a cool menu/theme and burn it.
Here is a link to Apple support - I searched for "how to create a slideshow in iPhoto":
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&src=support_site.home.search&local e=en_US&q=how%20to%20create%20a%20slideshow%20in%20iPhoto
A much better alternative would be Photo to Movie (not free) - it does everything you want:

  • How do I share edited photos with other apple devices.

Photo Stream does a great job of sharing photos between your mac, your ipad, and your iphone UNTILL you want to edit them. How do I edit a photo and then be able to see the edited version on all my devices?  If I edit on my Macbook, the changes are made in the iphoto library.  If I edit on my phone the changes are in the camera roll.  But the Photo Stream image remains unchanged yet it is the only version that can be seen by all devices.  Very frustrating when you edited a bunch of photos for better viewing, but can only see those changes on the device you made the edits on.  Also, trying to remembering which photos you edited on which device is impossible.  Any ideas on how to keep ONE editable photo database accessible from all your devices?

If you edit a photo in iPhoto on your Mac and then use the Share button at the bottom and select iCloud ➙ MyPhotoStream
the edited version will be added to the MyPhotoStream on all devices.  It has to be manually added. It's not automatic.
If that edit is removed in iPhoto, i.e. Revert to Original, the edited version in My Photo Stream remains.

  • Pause/glitch in photo slideshows at chapter changes

    Hi all.
I'm a wedding photographer and use iDVD to make slideshows for my clients of their wedding day. I usually make separate slideshows for getting ready, the ceremony and the reception. If a particular slideshow is longer than seven minutes or so, the DVD apparently needs to switch chapters. When that happens, there's a bit of a pause where the photos and the music stop. I have a client now who says her slideshow just stops there all together and they don't get the rest of it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks very much.

Slides in an iDVD created slideshow are treated as 'Chapters' and the slideshow is a 'Track'. A DVD is limited to 99 Tracks and each Track is limited to 99 Chapters.
Prior to iDVD 6, ALL iDVD created slideshows were limited to 99 slides for this reason. Starting with iDVD 6, Apple created something of a 'hack' that links tracks together making a longer slideshow. Unfortunately, many/most DVD players don't like the 'hack' and will pause/quit/drop audio after 99 images.
The ONLY safe way to create a slideshow of more than 99 images is to create it as a movie out of iPhoto or in iMovie.
