How do I manage my Apple IDs?

For the past 1 or 2 years, i have been using my Dad's Apple ID, which he gave to me. But now I'm facing way too many complications with it (involving rescue emails, security questions, passwords, info etc.) which i can't figure out. So I've decided that when iOS 7 is released, I will restore my iPod and start fresh with my own new Apple ID. But the problem is, I've purchased a TON of stuff from my old account and I can't buy them all again...What do I do? (BTW, I can't call Apple support from where I am)

All content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it, it's not currently possible to transfer them to a new account - so the content that you downloaded from your father's account will remain tied to his account, so only his account will be able to re-download them and download updates to his apps. As long as his account is authorised on the computer that you sync (and those items are in its library) then you should be able to continue to use them. But if you use iTunes Match, automatic downloads or re-download past purchases on a computer or device then you risk tying that computer or device to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

  • How do I manage two apple ids and iCloud for my teen's iPad?

Before my son turned 13, he used my Apple ID to set up his purchases for his first iPad.  Now he has his own apple ID.  He has his own iPhone and a different iPad for school.  The school wants him to use iCloud to back up everything.
I just set up iCloud but it wants to back up the items from my ID only.  How do I get it to back up from his ID too?
How can I even figure out which items are linked to his Apple ID and which ones are linked to my Apple ID?
For next school year, I want everything to work with his ID, not mine.  I wish I had just made him one in his name when he was 12!
I'm not so worried about the apps, photos, etc.  I am more concerned about his documents from Pages, Keynote, iBooks... I think when he does his schoolwork it is saving to my Apple ID and not his.
I've avoided syncing to the computers because we have 3 users with different IDs and several different devices and after a while it gets really confusing to know what belongs to whom.
I know that a lot of people are frustrated that you can't merge Apple IDs -- seems like Apple ID is built for single people and not growing families who hand down older devices to other family members.

You can see which ID he is signed into for iCloud by going to Settings>iCloud on his device(s) and viewing the ID shown next to Account.  This is the account that his documents are being store in, and the one his device is backing up to (if he is backing up to iCloud).
While it is possible to have more than one iCloud account on a device, there are limitations to the typed of data that additional ("secondary") accounts will sync.  Only the primary account (the one listed in Settings>iCloud) can be used for photo stream, bookmarks, documents, iCloud backup and Find My iDevice.  Because of this limitation, it isn't possible to sync (or "back up") documents from iWork to more than one iCloud account.

  • How do I manage multiple Apple IDs on one iMac

We just purchased my oldest child her first personal iPod Touch 5th gen.  Up until now, we have all managed our music/devices (2 nanos, 2 iPhones, iMac, iPad, and now Touch) on our iMac under one Apple ID (mine!).  We use this ID for everything from Apple TV purchases to iTunes to apps etc. as one big pool all charged to one credit card.  Now that my daughter has her own Touch we want to allow her to redeem gift cards to buy things (rather than go to credit card).  The problem is, her Touch is now somehow (automagically) synced to MY Apple ID - I am guessing because we plug it into our iMac and downloaded all the OLD songs she had from before.  Is there anyway that my daughter can have a separate Apple ID than our main one and still manage them both on our iMac??

What do yo mean by manage?
    This may help:
iTunes: How to share music between different user accounts on a single computer
    Note:
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
ALso note the 90 day time period for changing accounts. Tha effects the ability to redownload previous iTunes purchases.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
    CHANGE ID
The ID is used in the following locations and you  have to change them.
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
    Settings>iCloud
    and Settings>iTunes and App store
You  have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sign in with other ID.
If the iPod has iOS 7 then you have the enter the password for Apple ID presently sign in Settings>iCloud.
Also, a Restriction can be set (Settings>General>Restrictions) the prevents changing accounts

  • TS1741 How do I have multiple apple IDs on one Apple TV 5.3

I have looked and looked but I can't find a way to put both mine and my boyfriends apple IDs onto this Apple TV that I just bought him.  It's the 5.3 version, I went under general, settings, and then iTunes Store, and there isn't a accounts option, it's just a sign in option so how can we both use our phones as remotes?

Well, you could save multiple Apple ID on your Apple TV, but you can't use them at the same time!

  • How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes?

How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes? I wanted my teenager's AppleID to be different from mine so that she couldn't charge stuff to my AppleID, therefore I created me another one. Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? If I can just log in out of the AppleID, then I have no problem doing that as long as the synced apps, music, etc stays there for both. I am not trying to copy from one to the other, just want to make sure I have a backup for the UhOh times. If logging in and out on the same PC of multiple AppleIDs is acceptible then I need to be able to authorize the PC for both devices. Thanks for the help. I am new to the iOS world.

    "Method Three
Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open, quit it.
This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

how can I merge two Apple-IDs?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Apple will not merge two Apple IDs, nor will Apple transfer content from one ID to another.

  • Managing multiple Apple IDs in the office

    Hi folks,
I'm at a small design studio, with 17 Macs. At the moment staff use their personal Apple IDs for updates etc - the problem with this is we have various freelancers who come in and use different macs. Is there an easy way to manage Apple IDs for multiple Macs - ideally…
An Apple ID would be associated with the Mac, not the user's email address. This would solve the problem we currently have when people leave or join the company, and when we have freelancers in.
Could we set up an office 'IT@…' email and use the same Apple ID across multiple Macs? How would this affect purchases of software - iWork for example - where we'd want that software purchased for multiple Macs?
What I really want to avoid is having to tie each Mac, and its software to a specific email address - which may be out of date in weeks or months.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Rob

You should speak to the folks at the Apple Business division about volume licensing for businesses. The way you currently are doing it also violates the Mac App Store Terms of Agreement which only issues you a consumer license. They can also give you advice regarding deployment of software over multiple Macs at once

  • How do i merrge 2 apple ids

I had an ID initially and later after upgrading to IOS5 and clicking on icloud things went haywire( maybe due to lack of knowledge on my part) and I had to delete the ID which was [email protected]
when I tried to reactivate it i was asked to check my mail which icould not do. However later got a gmail ID and also managed to retrieve the previous mail which I edited to a yahoo mail ID.
Now I have 2 IDs for a single phone and have to log in and out each time there is an update.
Can someone suggest how I could merge the 2 IDs.

At the present, you cannot merge Apple ID's. It has been reported that Apple is working on a solution.

  • How do you create two apple ids for one email address.

I bought two i pads for my kids. Since we have just one email address, everytime I try to create a new apple id it says I already have one. They need separate ids so their friends can facetime with one and not the other. Can't figure out how to create two apple ids with one email address.

    Donnathemom wrote:
Well any ideas on how to solve this problem? When my daughter does facetime with someone it says she's Wyatt. She's not real happy about that.
Get her an email address, even if she never uses it.  They're free and available almost everywhere.  The only requirement is that the address be a valid one.
    Edit...
You can even use an "alias" of yours.  That's a fake address that actually sends everything to you.  Check with your current email supplier.

  • How do I manage one Apple ID and two iPhones with iCloud

I recently updated my Apple ID and have two phone using iCloud (mine and my daughter's).  How do we manage our contacts so we both do not have (or delete) each other's contacts?  Thank you!

You have two choices.  The first is to not sync contacts with iCloud on one of the phones.  To do this, on the phone you want to stop syncing with go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted.
The second (preferred) option is to migrate one of the phones to a separate iCloud account.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), provide the password to turn off Find My iDevice and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.  You can then go to iCloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.  Note: you can continue to share the same ID for iTunes and other services; the ID you use for these does not have to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.

  • HT5625 How do you merge two Apple IDs into one account?

I have two Apple IDs (it's a long story) with mixed content.  I'd like to merge the accounts into one account, in order to synchronize my apple products.  How do I do it?

    1. Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff if they'll do it. They probably won't.
    2. Because Apple generally doesn't permit that.
    3. Because the content remains associated with your Apple ID when you share it with other people.

  • How do I connect two Apple IDs to iTunes?

My wife an I are new to the world of Apple and are having fun finding our way.  We have muliple devices (iPhone4, iPhone5, iPad, iPad mini) and two separate iCloud apple IDs.  I want to share the iTunes library on my desktop computer with both IDs...how do I make this happen?

    Hello Marconian,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities and to the Apple world. If you want to have both accounts on one iTunes library, all you would have to authorized both accounts in that particular iTunes library. The following will shed some light on that process.
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
    Open iTunes
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • How can i create multiple apple ids from the same mac

There seems to be a limit on how many apple ids can be created from the same cpu. Trying to create 100 apple ids for a client to use on ipads distributed to employees i found i could only create three or four before i got the message account cannot be created, contact itunes support. Had the same problem creating multiple itunes accounts through the App Store.

I found this discussion because I need to create dozens of Apple IDs for the faculty and staff of the school for which I'm the IT Director.
    This is weak.
Apple, PLEASE upgrade the Apple ID system so it represents the current needs and paradigm.
What am I thinking, Apple (like Google) don't follow user discussion forums, except by accident when an employee sees something and is motivated enough to carry the water for users in need.

  • Managing multiple Apple IDs and multiple computers

My wife and I have two apple IDs and we have two laptops (an Air and a MacBook Pro). I use my ID for my purchases, and she uses her ID for her purchases. We chop and change the computers depending on what we're doing (although I tend to use the Mac Book Pro, and she the Mac Air). Each of us has our own login on each of the laptops. We both have significant 'libraries' of content for each Apple ID.
My question is this - I logged in on the MacBook Air with my login and attempted to dowload from iTunes via iCloud using iTunes Match a TV episode I had only part watched on my MacBook Pro. I recevied a message saying the Air was associated with my wife's Apple ID and if I downloaded the show, she wouldn't be able to download any of her past purchases for 90 days.
    What complete madness is that?
We have so many apple devices (we both have iphones, ipads, an apple TV at home and the two laptops) and use our separate apple IDs for our purchases, syncing, photostream etc etc.
Now, when I want to do something really simple like watch a show on my other laptop I can't unless I block my wife for 90 days...
Am I doing something wrong? Or is Apple's policy really lacking in any commonsense! Keep in my mind Apple's insistence that each person should have their own apple ID....
Thank you in advance for your help/suggestions.

I'm not surprised you haven't seen them on here. The search in these forums is abysmal. I don't remember which I'd seen on here, and can't find it again myself.
    Here's a writeup with screenshots:
    http://9to5mac.com/2014/09/19/ios-8-how-to-set-up-and-use-family-sharing/
I had a harder time finding out which apple ID an invited family member should use if they have two IDs in the same way that you and I do. It seems that the invited person can do the same - join the family share group with their iCloud ID, then specify the different Apple ID they have been using for their purchases.
