How do i manually manage my new iphone without erasing everything?

OK, so i got a new iphone 5 for christmas. i already have an ipod touch so through icloud i restored everything to my new phone. then i went on to my computer to add my cds since you cant do that through icloud, and when i tried i couldnt. then when i tried to set it to manual manage it said you can only sync to one computer at a time, and gave me two options: erase and sync or cancel. i understand this happening if it was a new computer and i previously synced my phone  to another computer, but for me thats not the case, this is the first computer ive used with my new phone. if syncing were to erase only my pictures, songs and videos i wouldnt mind just deleting everything but it will delete all my apps and app info, and there are things i need. is there anyway i can manually manage my new phone without erasing everything????

You don't manually manage with iCloud, you manually manage with iTunes on your computer. So, if you want to manually manage, get all of the content in your iTunes library on your computer first.
You can re-download iTunes purchased content:

I just bought a new computer, how can I start syncing with this computer without erasing everything already on my iphone?
Everytime I try to use the option sync manual it wants me to erase everything.
    Please help

The iPhone can be synced to one and only one computer at a time. Before you "marry" it to your new computer, be sure your new computer contains all the old computer's information. When you sync the iPhone to a new computer, it will be erased first. Then, whatever is on your iTunes Library will be synced to the iPhone.
Read: iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
You can also copy its previous backup from the old computer to the new one, then "restore from backup".
    From iTunes: About iOS backups
Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.

  • Hi my laptop with my itunes lubrary has crashed so i got a new one but i dont want to sync my iphone to the new laptop incase i lose all my songs on my iphone. how do i sync to a new one without losing everything

    hi i need help
hi my laptop with my itunes lubrary has crashed so i got a new one but i dont want to sync my iphone to the new laptop incase i lose all my songs on my iphone. how do i sync to a new one without losing everything

The right way is to restore the backup that you kept of your old computer onto your new one. If it is too late for that before you do anything set up a backup process for the new one so when it crashes (note I said "when", not "if") you won't be faced with this problem again.
In lieu of that the apps already mentioned will help you get content off the phone if it was not purchased from iTunes. But it it WAS purchased from iTunes just connect the phone to your new computer, Authorize iTunes on the new computer and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes file menu.

  • Syncing to a new PC without erasing everything on iphone 5?

I got a new PC after my old one got a virus. Now when I plug in my iphone 5, it tells me that it is synced to another computer (aka my old one) and syncing to the new one will erase everything on the phone. How can i avoid this? I have always manually synced my iphone so not everything is saved to my itunes, especially now that I have a new PC. Help please!! I'm just trying to add music to my iphone, but i don't want to lose all my apps, contacts, photos, etc.

    Hi there.
In case you can still turn on the old PC, i might suggest the steps I used two years ago to solve a very similar situation:
I copied on a usb pen the entire content of user/Music/iTunes
I then installed the same version of iTunes on the new PC, and I went to user/Music.
I did rename the existing iTunes directory as iTunes_backup, and copied the one I extracted from the old PC into Music (of course, a scan with an updated antivirus would be good...)
After turning on iTunes again, mostly of my settings, apps and music were there and I kept syncing with the same iPhone without loosing any data.
I don't know if that's gonna work on a newer version of iTunes, but I hope you can solev it in this way.
PS Back then I did also backup and transfer the whole content of c:/programs/itunes and any othe data I couldfind, but I worked out that just copying the libraries would be enough.

  • How to re-enable Manually Manage Music and Videos without erasing all music and videos

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 8.1.1 and iTunes 12.0.1.  When I updated iTunes recently to the new version, 12.0.1 it unchecked the Manually Manage Music and Videos option on my iPhone's summary page.  I just want to re-enable this feature without having to spend the time re-installing all my music and playlists.  Is there a way to enable this feature without erasing my music and videos?

I've gone from auto-sync mode to manual management before, and the music, playlists, and videos which on the device from auto-sync are not removed when changing to manual.

  • How do I sync my new iphone without deleting everything in my library?!

Last time I got a new iphone, all my music was deleted when I first synced it with my itunes library. How do I make sure that doesn't happen again?! What exactly do I have to click when the initial message pops up asking if I want to sync the new device. Some people have said yes, some people have said no. I need a postive answer please!

Was all the music purchased on iTunes? If yes then you own that music, just like if you buy an app you can always reinstall it under that Apple ID. If not and the music is on you itunes then just sync your music and choose what songs you want. If you have iTunes match ($25 a year) then you will always have all your music on all your Apple devices. It also makes sure the quality is as high as possible and all your album artwork is there.

  • Cannot manually manage music and videos without erasing and syncing first

I have an iPhone 3G bought new from the Apple store using 2.1. Using iTunes 8.0 and checking the "Manually manage music and video" checkbox, iTunes prompts me to "Erase and Sync", no other option is available to me. It was the same when using version 7.7 as well.
I'm not syncing to another computer, it's the same MacBook I've had for almost a year. How do I get the Library Persistent ID in iTunes to match the iPhone. I have the ID from the iTunes Music Library.xml file. I just need to know where the matching file for the iPhone is so I can make them match.
The ID doesn't match because I had to rebuild my drive a month ago and my question to Apple (actually Steve) is why can't I sync the other way from the phone to the computer.
Why does my library on the phone have to be wiped out. Who had the warped thought to come up with this genius idea.

I cannot express how disappointing this was for me to find out.
I want my music to be mobile, I don't want to have to copy it to every computer I want to listen to it on. I want to listen to it from the device, and be able to buy a new album at work or at home. This is a major disappointment for me, as every other device I have owned including my iPod Touch had this capability. I could authorize 5 machines and manually sync, and the music on that device could be played and managed on those authorized machines. For example, my wife has her own music collection, and I have mine, but we have a media center connected to our flat-screen in the living room, that we use for playing music when we are entertaining guests, and with our old iPods and iPod Touch devices, we could unplug one of our devices and plug the other persons in and listen to music from both our libraries without copying the music to that computer, as long as we authorized that machine for the both of us. Now with our iPhones there is no way to keep our seperate librarys and be able to play music on multiple computers in our house and at work, which we have always been able to do until our iPhones. The whole point of the iPhone for me was to be able to combine two devices and now because of the lack of this feature I still have to keep all our iPods around too... Dumb. I almost took our phones back because of this, and if apple doesn't fix it, I probably won't buy another. They should have at least mentioned this little fact before selling the devices to us. I know it's a different device, but it's similar enough that you expect it to work the same as the iPod and iPod Touch. It's not like I am wanting to be able to copy music from the device to multiple machines, it's exactly the opposite... I just want to be able to copy music to the device and listen to it at home and at work... why all apples other devices do this, and the iPhone doesn't is completely perplexing to me, and a serious oversight on there part. This pill would not be so hard to swallow if I had been warned about this prior to dropping almost a grand for iPhones for myself and my wife, expecting what I saw as a more advanced device to work at least as good as the other similar devices I own did.

  • How do I sync with a new computer without losing everything?

I no longer have access to the computer I originally synced my iPhone with.  I want to sync it with a new computer and back everything up without losing anything.  How do I do that?  Please help!

Using the information below you can transfer content to your new computer.  Thiis will at least update the content to have what is on your phone but you will still be syncing with a new iTunes library.  It will replace your content but hopefully you can make the replaced content match your existing content.
Make a backup of your computer always.  This is the digital age and it is all too easy to lose music and photos in an instant.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How to change iCloud accounts on an iPhone without erasing the data from the cloud?

Long story short I am using my sister's iPhone while mine is being repaired. My data from my iPhone is synced with my own iCloud account. My sister and my dad are on the same iCloud account, except I need to put my data on her phone, except it will not let me change the account on the iPhone without deleting my dad's iCloud account. How can I make this work?

Deleting the iCloud account on your phone only deletes it from your phone, not from iCloud.  The account an it's data will not be touched, and your father's phone will not be effected by this.  Just go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in using your Account.

  • How to sync the music to my iphone without erasing?

I got a new laptop and download itunes, and now I downloaded these songs and I want to put them on my iphone from my new laptop but it keeps telling me that my library would be erased and these stuff, I tried backing up, transfering purchases from my iphone and authrizing the computer but I still get that same ****** alert. help please. I need to have these songs on my iphone without deleteing the old ones in less than 2 hours. Thanks in advance

The iPhone will synch with ONLY ONE iTunes library at a time.  If you have a new computer, you need to move all the songs from the old computer to the new one.  If you didn't save the songs from the old computer and the songs weren't purchased using iTunes, then you're out of luck.  It's your responsibility to maintain your digital music files.

  • How do I transfer music from my iPhone to my new MacBook without erasing everything off my iPhone?

All that seems available is to 'sync' my new and empty iTunes library to my phone, which is not what I want.  How can it be this difficult to get my music purchased from iTunes and under the same apple account which my MacBook runs onto the new MacBook?

Furthe question to this one: Don't want to synch, simply want to transfer new music in iTunes to my iPhone.  Reason I don't want to synch, I burned some of my CDs in iTunes (i.e., didn't buy them through iTunes which iTunes/Apple doesn't seem to like at all) so don't want to lose everything I burned which is what synching appears to do.  So I was hoping for a simple drag and drop from iTunes to iPhone or similar.  Thank you.

  • I have old pictures and videos from a vacation on a previous restoration. How do I get them to my new iphone without deleting everything?

The other day I had to restore my phone, and for whatever reason I picked a restoration from my computer rather than cloud. Well, it just so happens I have many old vidoes and pictures I would like to now transfer to my phone. I've since restored my phone from Sunday with the cloud backup. How do I keep all of my current date on my phone while adding the selected media from my old phone? Thanks in advance.

You should be importing all pics and vids taken with your iphone to your computer regularly, as you would with any digital camera.  Have you failed to do this?
You cannot restore an old backup without deleting the current content from your iphone

All I did was plug in my ipod to update it to 6.1 and then it somehow got into recovery mode, and I don't want all my bookmarks and pictures to be erased! I plugged it into the exact same computer I always do. Somehow when itunes opened though it acted like it was a new program...when it wasnt.

Finish the recovery and then restore from your backup.
