How do I manually remove an installed program (possible fishing Virus)?

So I downloaded an app from this site but I can't seem to find it, is it possible that I've contracted a phishing virus, if so what are the steps i should take to remove it?

The spelling errors alone are sort of entertaining.
Clicking Read License results in no action. Since I am unwilling to consent to something I cannot read, I hit Disagree and that was that.
The next step will ask for your user name and password, after which it will do... what? Who knows, but no right-minded person should acquiesce to unknown modifications of a computer, unless it's already running Windows, in which case it's already messed up and this sort of behaviour is normal.
If you didn't actually install it, just forget you ever saw this thing and get on with your life. No harm done.

It appears from this that McAfee has an uninstaller. For much software there is no installer and removing it simply involves finding it in the Applications folder and dragging it to the Trash. Yes, this can leave some small files in Library but they are normally not an issue.

How do I Manually remove CD when iMac won't boot?

Last night I downloaded several updates. Suddenly my Intel iMac 20 no longer boots up past the grey screen of death. A CD is stuck in the drive so I can't use my Install disk. None of the key commands on boot up work so I can't eject. Tech support had me repeat the steps without any luck. Next step is going to a shop.
Does anyone know how to manually remove a CD from an iMac drive? Any paper clip type trick with these? If I could do that I could try the install disk on boot up.

Yes there is, Google to disassemble iMac, in my case" iMac 24" intel core duo" and you'll see more then one explanation, also with movie, but you'll need some torx tools. And be careful with disassembling the optical drive, to remove the plastic holder it's a bit tricky. How do I manually remove CD from flat screen i-mac

Disc is not showing up on the screen and cannot eject it - have tried all keyboard/eject combos. Reset PRAM, tried eject prompt in terminal - Superdrive appears to be dead. Any suggestion to manually remove the disc? I need to retrieve data on it.

Have had same basic problem. Here's how I got the disk out. Go to Application Folder and open Utilities Folder. Then open Disk Utilities. On the left of the screen you'll see a list of your drives including the DVD drive with the disk that is in it. Highlight the disk and click on the eject button at the top of the screen. The disk should come out if the drive has not failed. Good luck. This is a real pain but this worked for me. It's simple once you do it.

How can I look for recently installed programs on imacs?

I am suspicious that two imac computers have been hacked through a gmail address. When I opened mail on one computer the gmail account was empty and after contacting google they cant be retrieved. I changed password. Then this morning another imac that was linked via mail to the gmail account, started reinstalling over 2000 emails from another email account suggesting those too had gone missing off the computer not the server. I turned off that computer and unplugged it from the net. On my laptop that the gmail account was not linked to the other emails in my service provider email account were still on that computer so I figure it is safe.I changed the other email account password. I want to know how I find out if this is just an awful coincidence and whether my computers are safe to use or if I have to change all my passwords or what... I hope someone can help. Im feeling a bit overwhelmed with doubt. Is there someway i can detect if some malware has been installed on these computers?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. 7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter

and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line

11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. I am trying to remove a single song from my kids Ipod 5th gen ipod with itunes 11.0.1.2. With older versions of itunes i was able to right click on the content that i wanted to remove and select delete. I for the life of me can not figure out how to remove content with itunes 11. i have a lot of apple devices , iphone,ipad,ipod touch, and so on and so on. I am so frusterated that i feel like thowing it all in the garbage and starting over with another product.

Everything works the same in iTunes 11 as in previous versions.

How to remove all OEM programs and get to a base OS - W7

Is there a utility that will bring the machine back to just the base Windows 7 OS? None of the OEM installed programs are needed, or wanted.
Using Add/Remove Programs always leaves unwanted trash in the file system and registry. So is there a utility that cleanly removes all non-OS related files/registry entries?
What has been tried:
1.) Installed W7 Pro from an image downloaded from Digital River. The product key on the machine was used for installation. Activation via Internet and Automated Phone System failed.
2.) Repeat of #1 using a Lenovo XP/Vista to W7 Upgrade disk. Installation works. Activation fails.
3.) Repeat of #1 using a commercially purchased copy of Vista to W7 upgrade. Installation works. Activation fails.
4.) WAIK has been attempted with no success thus far.
Any thoughts other than Add/Remove Programs? Or a Volume Licensing Agreement?
Is there a utility? Does Lenovo have any remedy for the complete removal pre-installed programs?
We have 125 of these machines. Too many to manually go through Add/Remove and still wind up with a less than pristine OS installation.

I am planning to purchase new mac mini that just came out today but I do not know how I will be able to install programs or save stuff to disk when there is now internal optical drive. I know I could purchase an external drive but is that necesary. Thanks.

If you have access to another Mac with an DVD drive you should be able to share it using Apple's drive sharing feature in the OS or at the very least if you have a firewire cable boot into firewire disk mode...

we had a disaster and our old SCCM 2007 site server is dead.
We already have a SCCM 2012 site server up and running and a old SCCM 2007 distribution point still up.
we need to convert the old DP to a 2012 DP.
How can i manually remove the DP from SCCM 2007 without an access to the console, site server, bd, etc...?
On the DP, Can I just remove all the share and permission?

If you don't use the 2007 environment any more you can delete the old shares and folders.

How do I manually uninstall FIM Portal and Service 2010

I installed Forefront Identity Manager 2010 as follows:
Server 1: FIM Sync Service
Servers 2, 3: SharePoint Farm, FIM Portal and Service
I've had issues from the installation. When installing FIM Portal and Service on Server 2 it failed to recognize fim sync service on server 1. We had FIM service unavailable errors in most usage scenarios (even though asmx returned service description).
I was able to use RunAs different user to start browser as the service account used to install and run the FIM service, browse to the identity management site using
http://localhost and saw the fim portal. I was never able to see the portal using DNS address or server name from the server 2 or any other computer on the network, or using any other account (although I checked the option to
enable portal access for authenticated users).
I tried to uninstall - this went through all the steps but failed during apply and did a rollback. However, subsequent attempts to change, repair or uninstall all fail with message that the site was not found, please create it...
I would like to manually remove FIM Service and Portal and begin again. How do I manually remove FIM Service and Portal when uninstall fails?

Are you getting this error message while uninstalling FIM?
FIM Portal and Service is trying to find a site which is not there anymore. Just add the url which FIM was looking into the Central Administration >> Alternate Access Mappings
Save and exit out from Central Administration and try to uninstall now and it should work. It worked for me.

How can I totally remove the malware program GoPhoto.it from my MacBook Pro? I am desperate to get some help on this issue.
Somehow, the malware GoPhoto.it downloaded itself to my computer. A few days ago in a desperate attempt to delete the program, I followed some instructions that I found online. I deleted the "supposed" file from the "Application Support" folder, but the program continues to plague my laptop! Please help, as I just got this computer a few months ago and would like to make it last as long as possible!

- The MAC now seams to switch off normally.
What is still on the Dock is Mac_installer icon. I'm not able to remove it.

How do I manually uninstall 3.5.6? Each time I attempt to upgrade to 4.0 the install program asks me to reboot which I have done numerous times. Add/Remove Programs prompts the same message when selecting "REMOVE" option.
