How do I manually uninstall Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro?

The program crashed when using compiling the results of a distributed form.
I cannot open or compile any of my distributed forms, or even open the Tracker.
I uninstalled the program and reinstlled it, but the same problem exists.
I cannot use any existing distributed forms or create new ones.
I would like to try a manual uninstall.
Reformatting my hard drive is a last resort.
Thank you for your help.
Sheila

Hi Mike
Thank you for your recommendation to use Filemaker Pro. We will be buying the program soon.
The documentation for the Microsoft Installer Clean-up tool says 1) that other programs might be uninstalled also, and 2) you should not use it if you have Microsoft Office 2007 installed on your computer. i checked out the referral link for those who have Office 2007 installed, and it gives instructions for uninstalling Office 2007.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Sometimes there are server issues and such. A reinstall is a bit drastic. Try http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat XI Pro: Help Please

Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.  Gone to programs and tried to uninstall then message says it is going to do it. Then message prompts come up asking if it can update my software. If I say no action it stops uninstalling. Then if I say yes it goes no further either.
Regret every taken up the trial offer for this programme as I tried using it and message repeatedly appears saying "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command".
Please can someone offer some advice. Thank you.

Try launching acrobat in safe mode, to do so follow the steps:
    a.       Press and hold down shift and double click the acrobat icon and then open a pdf file.
    b.      If it opens without crashing after about 15 seconds, then you have a faulty plug in, locate and remove it from your plug-ins folder.
    c.       To remove plug-ins, you may contact Acrobat Support

“All scripts are executed in response to a particular event. There are several types of events.” (Adobe, 2006, p. 40). You may want to execute your script as a console event. In this case, use the JavaScript Debugger console (Adobe, 2006, p. 21). For more information, read the manual Acrobat has provided online: Developing Acrobat Applications (Adobe, 2006).

  • How do I transfer the Adobe Acrobat XI Pro to a new computer?

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat XI Pro from the internet last week and I am changing computers in my office today.  How can I transfer this program to my new computer when the program did not give me an option to SAVE it when downloading it?  I really want to use it on my new computer and do not wish to purchase it again since no one will be using the old computer after it is switched out.
    Thanks for your help.  Michelle

I assume you have your S/N (or subscription information). In that case, you can download from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. You should deactivate the version on the old computer so you keep your activations current. Also, be sure to register your installation, particularly with the S/N for the future so you have access to info online (like your S/N). Also make a backup of the install file on a CD or backup drive for the future -- a download may not always be available, and even if it is it may be hard to find.

  • How to manually uninstall Adobe Acrobat 9 or force installation?

Acrobat was not cleanly uninstalled with a installation manager Total Uninstall, and now the standard uninstaller is no longer available.  Reinstallation is currently not possible because the installer believes Acrobat is still installed.  It seems my only option is to manually uninstall Acrobat, or possibily simplier option of forcing installation.  I have removed all directories and subdirectories associated with Acrobat but this is not enough.  Any help would be appreciated.

Well I guess you know now not to use crappy 3rd party utilties. What's wrong with using your OSes application removal anyways ?! That's what it's there for. <end of rant>
Go to Microsoft download and get the "Installer Cleanup Utility" (not sure if that's the correct name, but it's close enough . Run it and see if you can proceed with the installation of Acrobat.
FWIW it's not as simple as that.  We use an administrative install point, (following adobe's "instructions" I might add), and several systems, including mine, got pretty jacked up from the 9.3.2 quarterly update.
Had to rip it out by the roots, and the msi cleanup is only part of the solution.  Don't ask for a howto - I'm still too traumatized.
Registry surgery, boot to safe mode, remove application directory, some start->run entries, yada yada yada.  Had to boot into linux to fix the recycle bin after all was said and done.
    What a bloated mess.
I will add that most systems were fine, but this application is waaaaaaay too complex for what it does.  Installation is fragile in a managed desktop environment, repair tedious.  Updates are unforgiveably large and The MSP approach to patches/updates is a freaking nightmare to deal with.  It sprays crap all over the system, the registry, and what the installer does is poorly documented if at all.
Funny how adobe nevers seems to chime in on any of these threads, BTW.

  • How do I uninstall Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Trial?

    To who it may concern:
I downloaded the trial Adobe Acrobat IX on my Mac but get an error about images and therefore cannot take advantage of the trial.  I would instead like to uninstall the trial.
    Thank you,

    Hi Sherri Stevens,
For MAC, you might need to go into /Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI/ and then run the uninstaller from that directory to remove the trial version.

  • How can I upgrade to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended?

    Hello,
I bought the upgrade for this version, but when I installed it and entered my new licence number, a message said that I have to have the previous version installed on the PC as proof I have an older version. Acrobat 6 would not install if 9 was installed, so I uninstalled 9, installed 6 and am now trying to install 9. Now a message is saying that it's highly recommended to uninstall 6 first to avoid application conflict. Should I just ignore the message and install it anyway?
I waited very long on the phone and could not get help from customer service.
Can anybody help with this problem?
    Thank you.

    fwiw -
My takeaway from the TechNote below is that you'd start with your Acrobat 6 installed.
    You'd run the upgrade installer.
At some point the installer is to provide an alert associated with the "Required Auto Removal".
Required Auto Removal indicates that you will receive a warning that an older or less functional product has been detected.
You can remove the less functional product or cancel the installation.
You'd let the installer remove the "older" product.

It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

  • How to extract data from Adobe Acrobat X Pro

    Hello,
I am new to creating fillable pdf forms, so please bear with me if I am not in the right area.
Currently our site has a page that our users enter data into and that data is sent to a database for further processing.
I see how to create the fillable pdf form itself and how to have it made available on the site.  What I cannot see is one the fillable pdf form is filled, how can I extract the data and put it into a database such as SQL?
    Thank you for your help.

Typically, the form has a submit button. This works in the same way as a submit button on a web page.
That is, there is a script on a web server (CGI, ASP, PHP, many other possibilities). The script has a URL. The form connects to the URL and sends the form information. Then the script does whatever the programmer wants. Putting it in a database is a frequent activity.
If I understand right, you already have this process and want to apply it to a new form. You may need a programmer's assistance to work out what happens on the server, or you may just be able to recycle the submit action from the existing form. Examine the existing form very carefully, the field names will be vital, and there may be essential JavaScripts.
Note too that there are two kinds of PDF form - those made in Acrobat, and those made in LiveCycle Designer.

  • Error uninstalling Adobe Acrobat X Pro

    SCCM 2012
    Server is at SP1 CU3
    Clients are varied...
I have a package created to run the following command line:

It is set to run Hidden
    Requirements:
       Any platform
       Estimated disk space:  50MB
Maximum allowed run time:  120 minutes
Whether or not a user is logged on
       Run with administrative rights
Drive mode:  Runs with UNC name
    Deployment is required
User experience is to allow software installation and system restart outside of maintenance window, and to Commit changes at deadline or during a maintenance window.  I'm also
telling it to Download content from DP and run locally for both options under Distribution Points tab.
This is deployed to a collection of machines, with 78 members.  I deployed this on 7/8.  I have had 9 successes, 5 that are showing as Unknown, and the rest (64) are showing
    the same error:
    Message ID 10006     Error     1602
I've looked the error up online, and it doesn't make sense.  It says the user cancelled, but the user doesn't have that option in this deployment.  I'm not seeing anything
else in the logs to point me in the right direction.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,

the 1602 returncode can be misleading. it doesn't necessarily mean that the user cancelled the ConfigMgr activity, it actually means that msiexec returned that code to ConfigMgr - ConfigMgr doesn't really know what happened other than what msiexec tells
    it.
1602 can occur if the msiexec pops up a dialog asking the user "some error occurred, do you want to retry or cancel".
1602 can also occur if the msiexec process is prompting for a decision, but the user shuts down the PC (effectively cancelling the msi transaction)
As Narcoticoo says, writing the logfile might reveal a bit more about what's actually going on.
