How do I mark an recently copied email to the local folders as read?

I have a message filter for a local imap account setup to copy messages to the Local Folders. I do this because the imap account is actually an exchange account with a ton of email and I can't keep all of my email in the main exchange account so I use an exchange online archive which is hidden to thunderbird due to compatibility. Copying to local folders allows archiving and full searching all while keeping keeps thunderbird very fast. Alternatively if I have more than lets say 50,000 emails synced over imap from exchange compatibility things become horrendously slow.
Currently I have a message filter that copies messages from my imap to Local Folders. If I try to mark it read after the move, as in while in Local Folders it does it afterwards and I then miss the message. My goal is to only mark it read in Local Folders.
The problem is if I try to mark the copied message as read it must do it prior to the copy, which ruins my ability to keep track of what I have and have not read yet.
I tried to put another filter under Local Folders that just marks all messages that come into local folders marked as read but it doesn't take unless I run it manually on the folder. My understanding is that this occurs because the copy doesn't happen at the same time messages are synced.
How can I have it so the messages in the local folder are marked as read?

Done some searching and located an addon which is not auto run, but is quicker than writing filters etc. It creates a button/icon to use to mark all emails in selected folder as read.
* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mark-all-read-button/
'''How to install addon:'''
Download to desktop.
In thunderbird
Tools > Addons
Click on gear wheel icon and select; Install addon from file'
locate the file you downloaded and click on Open
You may need to restart Thunderbird at prompt.
'''Second option:'''
If you do not want another icon to add to toolbar - it does get messy if you keep adding icons :) then there is another method of adding it to the right click drop down context list of folders.
Make hidden files and folders visible;
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
In thunderbird
* Help >Troubleshooting Information
* click on 'Show folder' button
* '''Close Thunderbird now - this is important.'''
It will open showing Profile folder name contents.
You will see a 'Mail' and an 'ImapMail' folder plus other stuff.
* Create a new folder called '''chrome''' Note the spelling. It should be in same location as 'Mail' folder.
* Open Notepad
* Copy paste all the section between the two lines below
* save the file as '''userChrome.css''' in the '''chrome '''folder - note all spellings.
then restart thunderbird.
Right click on eg: Local Folder Inbox
you should see an option 'Mark folder read'
<pre>
* Do not remove the @namespace line -- it's required for correct functioning
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");
#folderPaneContext-markMailFolderAllRead {
list-style-image: none !important;

    To delete multiple emails touch Edit, select all the emails and then touch Trash.
    There is no way to delete all emails from the Inbox. One can delete all emails from Trash.

    How do you save a picture from email to the iPhoto?

    Click and hold on the Save button, and a menu appears, listing each attached file’s name along with a Save As button. Select any individual file, and you’ll save just that attachment to disk. But the really nice feature is the final menu item—Add to iPhoto. That’s right; with one button click-and-hold, you can add all of a message’s attached images to iPhoto.

  • How do I clear space on Macbook air in the following folders? Mail, Containers and Application support under libraries?

    How do I clear space on Macbook air in the following folders? Mail, Containers and Application support under libraries?

    Why? If you need space on the SSD:
    Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Get an external hard drive on which to store some of your files after which you can
          erase the data from your internal drive to free up space.
      5. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      6. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      7. See The Storage Display.
    You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
    You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
    Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

    I need to be able to send a mass email where the "Dear So-and-so" is personalized for each recipient. Is it possible to do this with Mail? If so, how can I accomplish that?

    you'll have to use a feature called "Mail Merge"
    it works with either MS Word + Outlook

  • How may I assure b/w copy prints at the same-size as my original artwork?

    For example, the dimensions of my b/w original artwork are 5 x 8 inches.  However, the printed (HP Deskjet 6520)
    copy measures appx. 5 1/8 x 8 1/8 inches!  I'm unsure why this is happening.  What adjustments may I make, and
    where may I make them so that my 5 x 8" original art will be 5 x 8" on the printed copy?
    Many thanks for your suggestions/directions.
    Curious,
    George

    I have found laser printers, such as the one you are printing on, do distort the print out a small amount usually about .016" or less. Being the nature of toner on paper and a fuser heating both. But for a 5" X 8" image this seems a bit much (as you report .125"). If your Options are set to Do Not Scale and Media Defined By Driver, in the print dialog it should be printing to scale, 100%. Unless you are Ignoring Art Board and using Marks and Bleed to add Trim Marks. This will take the extremities of the artwork and add trim marks to it, which may be the reason you're .125" over.
    What is your Bleed set to? Is your document set to Use Document Bleed Settings?
    If you have Scale to Page selected with a 8" image, your piece will be enlarged to fit to the page printed to. And if you have an 8" wide (although you put 5" first so I should assume this is the width) and have scale to page selected your image should grow to fill the width of 8.5" sheet, less the printers unprintable margin.

  • How do i get photos sent via email into the new photos app in yosemite 10.10.3

    Using mail on my mac, having upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 i now cant import photos sent via email into the new photos app. if i highlight the photo in mail and right click the mouse the option is still to export to iPhoto !!

    I was clicking on the photo, so thanks for telling me about the save icon - unfortunately this still tries to open up and save to iPhoto the same as clicking on the image but my photos have been moved from iPhoto to the new photos app as part of the update to 10.10.3 Yosemite. Although it also gives me the option to save other places i cant work out how to save into the photo app

  • How do I reply to a forwarded email using the 'To' email address in 'From'

    Let me explain, as this might sound odd:
    I now have what will be a rarely used email address, say [email protected], provided for me by a company I am occasionally contracted to work for. Any email sent to that address is automatically forwarded to my personal account. There will be the odd occasion that I will need to send email from that address, or reply to emails sent to that address.
    The problem is, as far as I can see, I can only send email from the address I have set up my account with on Mail, say [email protected] For confidentiality reasons I'm not allowed, nor do I wish, to have recipients know this address. Though I'm self employed, the company I am occasionally contacted to, say +Bloggs LLP+, want me to appear as an employee, hence the [email protected] email address.
    Using 'Reply To' is not an option, since my personal 'From' email address is still visible.
    Yes, I know I can set up another POP/IMAP account in Mail, have all the [email protected] email go to that inbox, and then when I reply it will have come from [email protected], but I can't set up such an account in Mail since the emails are forwarded automatically and as such I do not have - nor do I wish to have - POP/IMAP access to the [email protected] email account.
    In other software, I have been able to simply enter a 'from' email address into a 'From' field, but this doesn't seem possible with Mail.
    Anybody got any ideas? I'm using Leopard, so is Mail any different on Snow Leopard?

    Sorry, you can't do this in Mail, and I'd love to know which email client you say you've used that does allow this; I've never seen one yet.
    If you want to use that email address and send mail from that account, you need to set it up in Mail. There is no difference in basic features between Mail in Leopard or Snow Leopard, so upgrading to Snow Leopard will not help you in any way.

    I wish to send a page via email in the body of the mail. The only option to send a page appears to be to save it first and then attatch to the mail.

    When you are in the Plan View, right click on the icon for the page that you want to omit from the menu. Near the bottom, you'll see Menu Options, click on that and you'll have the choice to Exclude Page from Menus.

  • Is there a way of sharing received emails in the LAN? I mean, like the local folders but pointing to shared SAMBA folders.

    I work in a small company where every receive email is classified, stored and shared with everyone. This is implemented with M.S. Exchange shared folders. However, I am trying to get rid of the Exchange Server, install Ubuntu in every terminal and just use google as email server. What I did so far is to share some folders with SAMBA and point everyone's Thunderbird "Local Folders" to them, and this seems to be working well, but the problem is that Thunderbird Local Folders weren't meant to be shared. Actually, if someone adds any email to the folders the other people won't see any changes unless they restart Thunderbird. Also, as Thunderbird stores emails in mbox, when someone is seeing any email belonging to some folder, that folder gets blocked and other people are not allowed to see it.
    Is there a way in Thunderbird of sharing emails in realtime in the LAN? That would be a very useful tool for teamwork.

    Your coming at this from the wrong end.
    It is implemented by Exchange. In Outlook.
    So you need
    It is implemented by XXX. In Thunderbird.
    That is you need a server solution to the issue. You could get some if it using IMAP mail accounts but a real solution is probably a far better solution and shared calendars are a real boon I think.
    One that I think has some merit is http://www.sogo.nu/ but Zimbra is also worth a look http://www.zimbra.com/products/ I know very little about either product, so do your own due diligence.
    Those are certainly not the only exchange replacement packages available as this google search demonstrates http://www.google.com.au/webhp?nord=1#newwindow=1&nord=1&q=exchange+replacement&safe=off
