How do I mark unwanted emails as spam

how do I block unwanted emails     Better yet!!!!  how can I mark unwanted emails as spam?
Kathleen

Who is the email carrier?
Gmail app has an option to mark each email as Spam.
In the desktop Yahoo, AOL, etc, there are Spam controls you can use, and emails go to the Spam folder on the phone.
If the mail app you are using doesn't have an option to mark as Spam, then go to your computer and see if you can set up Spam controls for the email there.  When the app syncs it should filter the spam according to the rules you've set up on your computer.

  • How can I mark an email as SPAM without "opening" it?

When I go to "the cloud" to read my email, I might see spam there.
But when I click on the email message to mark it as spam or even
delete it, I've "opened" the email.  I don't want to do that, right!!!
So how can I mark it as spam *or* delete it without "opening" the
    email in question.
    Thanks!
[and oh, by the way, since moving to the cloud, I've gotten lots of
spam -- something I almost never got with me.com.  just fyi...]

You need to have the account set up as IMAP or Exchange (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. automatically do this if you choose that option when you create the account). POP3 accounts do not supporting synchronizing between clients and the server.

There's a big "thumbs down" icon that should be in your toolbar, so long as you have junk mail enabled in Mail's preferences.

  • How do i block unwanted emails or contacts

how do i block unwanted emails or contacts

    Hi :)
I have the same problem. All of the sudden I receive tons of unsolicited ***** invitations. You can do two things:
    Forward emails to: [email protected]
Put them in the Junk folder. Apple is supposed to check that and do something about it.
I downloaded a little app called SpamDrain. They give you few weeks of free service but after that they will charge you for removing your unwanted stuff.
Anyway this problem started about three weeks ago and I receive about ten unwanted ***** mails every day. It's a real pain. Hopefully between apple and the little app I will get rid of it.

  • How do you mark a message as spam when your mail comes from gmail via OS X Mail.app?

How do you mark a message as spam when your mail comes from gmail via OS X Mail.app?
I use IMAP to get Gmail. I seem to remember seeing a "[Gmail]/Spam" IMAP folder in previous versions of the app, but that's not visible any more.
Without this, I have to log on to the web-based Gmail to mark messages as spam, that's a productivity killer.

right mouse click on a message and select Mark as Junk Mail

  • How do I mark outgoing emails as urgent or important with iPhone 5C?

Hi all, I'd like to know how to mark outgoing emails as urgent or important using the iPhone 5C.  I currently have iOS 7.1.1.  The only thread I saw on this was from 2012  (saying that the feature doesn't exist) so I'm hoping the status has changed.
    Thank you!

Thank you, good to know it isn't possible. The usefulness is more in terms of the interface with other email software (like Outlook), which can sort and send reminders about messages based on importance. Android phones support this so let's hope Apple can keep up!

  • How should I mark a message as spam when using Mail with IMAP Gmail

    Hi,
I've been using Apple Mail 3.2 with Gmail's IMAP for several month's and am very happy with the setup. One feature of Gmail that's great is the spam filtering, however, every day a couple spam messages get through the filtering. My question is this: What's the best way to train Gmail of a spam message?
Accessing Gmail through the Safari allows you to mark a message as Spam. I assume that Gmail then does something to train its algorithm that spam has been received so that a similar message will go direct to the Spam folder the next time its received.
I prefer to deal with my email via Apple Mail or via the iPhone Mail and have been moving spam messages to the Spam folder. Does this action do anything to train Gmail's spam filtering so that a similar message will go direct to the spam folder?
    Thanks

    Hello Hal:
I think you will get a better answer to your question by contacting G-mail. In my case, I use AOL mail in Apple's mail application. AOL catches the vast majority of spam/junk and it is placed in a spam folder. The few that get through seem to be trapped by Apple's mail and placed in the Junk folder.

  • How do i delete unwanted email addresses on iphone 3gs

Hi all, just joined, Can anyone help please to remove unwanted email addresses, I have tried free download of ibackupbot, it finds contacts but not email addresses, and I do not wish to buy it when apple should have this built in to the iphone.
    Regards
    Brian.

If you are referring to the autofill feature when addressing an email, the iOS Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients. The email address autofill feature when addressing an email pulls from your Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with the iOS Mail app to add a previous recipient to Contacts that is not already entered, or to remove a previous recipient from the list - not at the present time anyway.

  • I use gmail. How do I block junk emails and spam or create filters to delete them

I Use an I pad and iPhone for gmail . how do I block spam and unwanted commercial emails. can I set filters as I do when using my MacBook Pro?

deggie is 100% right, you must do it at gMail-webMail from a web browser. Your iPad will probably be easiest.
FYI, gMail is responsible for filtering SPAM. Your iDevices merely check your webMail's INBOX for unread messages. If SPAM gets there, it means gMail is not recognizing the messages as such. You should be able to block individual eMail addresses there as well, for the ones that are slipping through the cracks.
    Hope this helps.

  • With 31.0, McAfee Internet Security marks ALL email as spam. What's the fix?

No matter the level of anti-spam filtering I choose, every single incoming email is tagged as spam in my inbox. (Also, FWIW, all messages go to the inbox even if I try to opt to have them sent to the McAfee anti-spam folder.) I have three PCs with the same McAfee program and Thunderbird. After the problem arose on one PC I checked the others, which had not yet been updated to 31.0. No problem until I updated T'bird. Then: BOOM! Everything is marked as spam on both of those as well.
Hard to believe that McAfee hasn't heard from other T'bird users on this. Doesn't it seem that there must be an innate conflict between McAfee IS and T'bird 31.0?
McAfee techs want to take remote access of my computer to play around with the registry, presumably looking for a corruption of some sort. I have declined, because I can't see that happening simultaneously in all three of my computers, nor do I wish to have the McAfee techs learning on my equipment. Let them solve the problem in-house.
But meantime, just in case, does anyone have a solid suggestion? Thanks!

re: ''but your boilerplate reply doesn't recognize''
This facetious remark is uncalled for and not polite to people trying to offer assistance.
McAfee needs to keep up to date if it intends to offer what it claims without causing aggrivation and issues to the user, but obviously informing them helps and this you are doing, which is good.
    You ask for a workaround:
The link offers some advise from a Thunderbird perspective.
I've also done some internet searching on your behalf and located that this issue seems to occur regardless of email client.
On this McAfee forum, there is a similar question albeit a year old, with some advise on what to try.

  • How do I rid unwanted email addresses

As I start to address an email, options pop up for recipient addresses. Cool, except I have several outdated email addresses that receivers no longer use. How can I get rid of those old addresses, so they don't appear as options anymore?

All addresses exist in your address book, so you'll need to remove them there.
Make sure to check the Personal Address Book as well as Collected Addresses, and any other address book you may have created.

  • How do I mark an email Sender as a VIP?

I cannot find in preferences or contacts or menu of email bar...
I have some set up cannot remember how I did it...need to add one.

Find the sender in one of your emails and hover over the name. A star will appear next to the name. A hollow star is not a VIP and a filled star is a VIP.
