How do i mask image corners?

Hi there,
Can anyone help me please. I'm new to dreamweaver. I am
trying to paste an image in a cell of a table i created in
dreamweaver. The image has rounded corners and I would like the
background of the web page to appear at the corners but instead the
image has rounded corners and the rest of the cell is white. How do
I create an image with rounded corners to achieve this? I am using
fireworks and dreamweaver.
Thank you very much
tst

Rebuild the image.
Make the 'canvas' colour outside the rounded corners the same
colour as what
your page background colour will be.
Or...export the graphic as a transparent GIF so there is no
background
colour outside the rounded corners.

  • Examples of Soft Mask images

    Hi,
I need to implement Soft Mask image support for a PDF generator (specifically we need to be able to embed PNG images with transparency), read the relevant sections in the PDF specs (sections 8.9.5, 8.9.6 and 11.6.5.3), however I have several doubts:
    1) Are Soft Mask images the solution for this scenario or is there another solution (we are emitting PDF 1.4 files).
    2) What's exactly a subsidiary image XObject?
    3) Do I need to write an image XObject in another entry in the Image Dictionary or writing in the SMask entry of the parent image enough?
    4) Writing the subsidiary image XObject as a regular stream in the SMask entry would be enough?
    5) Do I need to update the Graphics state when emitting the parent image with the soft mask?
Also, are there any examples of this feature that I can look upon to be able to see more clearly how are soft mask images implemented?

1 - Yes, soft masks are the way to go!
2 - Meaning you create a valid Image XObject and then set that as the value of the /SMask key in the primary image.  The SMask image needs to be in DeviceGray colorspace.
3 - See above (two separate objects, /SMask points from one to the other)
4 - Streams have to be their own indirect objects
5 - No, if the mask is ONLY for the image (which it would be for PNG conversion), then no changes to the ExtGState.
Open up Adobe Photoshop (or Illustrator or InDesign), place a PNG image with transparency, save as PDF.

  • Imported jpg, how to "crop" or round corners

So I have this jpg, a scanned image really.. And what I'd like to keep of the scanned image is a square within with rounded corners (within the rectangular scanned image). What's the procedure?
Created and placed a square, corners with a radius over the target and attempted to "divide objects below", of course the jpg isn't an object, is it..(?)

Wade, you are a broken record. All you ever say is that because this is how it is currently done, that makes it the "right" way. Feel free to not respond to my posts because I will never agree with that mentality.
If you have some OTHER way to justify something, based in logic or common sense, I am all ears. But the idea that the status quo is somehow always "right" not does hold water with me.
I feel if any basic user can see that there is a better way to do something, it is more "right" than the current way. That is not how your head operates, I know. I get that. So just ignore me. I am tired of arguing with you. Many people agree with me.
In 2010, IMO you should not require a seperate external image editor just to crop a pasted bitmap in a program that is going on over a dozen releases. This is a common task when assembling artwork. I will of course point out that Freehand has done it flawlessly for something like 15 years. It is especially troubling when AI already has rasterization features in it, which it seems to me is a logical place to give users some control.
It is dumbfounding to me that rasterizing a masked image would result in the full dimension of the masked area being converted to white pixels. I can understand for non-square mask shapes (like a circle) that white may need to fill the bounding area of the MASK with white when rasterized. That makes sense to me.
Let's say I paste a web page into AI. I want to use the logo in the middle of a business card layout. Luckily the logo is on white on the web page so I have no issues on my white business card layout. So I mask just the tiny area in the upper left with a box and position the logo on the business card. and group the whole thing.
I want to mail a quick proof to a client. So I duplicate the card and choose the Rasterize command and choose Screen resolution. Do I just get the card? No. I get a little card on a huge field of white. Can anyone explain why that should be the DEFAULT behavior of the rasterization process?
Clearly, it is programatically possible, since the Flatten Transparency workaround gets us 99% there-- it just leaves and extra pixel on all dimensions for some reason. If the user had some control over this setting, that would be great, too.
I thought I saw that at least, masked contents won't show in Outline view in AI-CS5 any more which is a step in the right direction.
Does anyone know if this rasterization problem is fixed, too?

  • How do I store images in a jar file to be displayed on a jsp?

    Afternoon all,
I have created a java component which accepts some parameters and returns a string. The returned string contains html tags to display a table in a webpage when rendered through a browser.
I want to be able to add this component to any java web project to display my table. The problem is that I want to use images in my table to give the appearance of curved corners.
How do I store images in my component and render to a webpage?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

You won't be able to make the install of this library as simple as the installation of a jar file. You can't access the images directly in the jar.
There are a few approaches you can take:
    1 - jar file + resources:
Have the install as being a jar and a "resources" directory which you store all the images in. Thus the images become part of the web application/web site and are accessible. Probably need to allow an entry in web.xml to configure where/what this directory is called.
    2 - jar file only:
Provide a servlet to access the images, which will load them from the jar file, using the ClassLoader.getResourceAsStream(). Requires declaration of a servlet in the web.xml file. Won't be as efficient as having the images on disk, but will keep them bundled in the jar file.
you would generate code such as <img src="myImgServlet?img=.....">

  • How do you make images transparent in inDesign?

How do you make images transparent in Adobe InDesign CS5.5?

    Dittco wrote:
It IS possible: Select the image. Open effects (Window > Effects). Switch from "normal" to "multiply". Viola! White background is gone.
That only works with a white background. In addition, it introduces a transparency effect, with its associated problems.
With a rather light background: Select the image. Open clipping path (Object > Clipping Path > Options). Select Type > Detect Edges; use Threshold and Tolerance to get as close as possible to the edge of your image. This may be difficult because of a too low resolution image, or too much fringe on the edge -- if all fails, use the Inset Frame value to force the mask "into" the image. Click OK, and the background is gone.
But that's not the only way: you can always create a clipping path manually, and then you are in total control, not limited by transparency side effects, auto-edge detection, and busy backgrounds.

  • Masked images in Illustrator

My illustrator cs4 file had a placed image that was masked (just cropped with a rectangle)..  When the file came into FC, there was no image at all.
How do I set up a cropped image in Illustrator that I can bring into FC, cropped?

Here's the deal with the imported PNG. On import we use an Illustrator CS4 library to convert to FXG, then merge the FXG into the MXML of your project. While our current CS4 library supports incoming .psd, .jpeg, .tiff and other formats, it doesn't support PNG. So the PNG is dropped. This is noted in the beta release notes under the Illustrator import section, and will be fixed when we integrate a newer version of the library next month.
With regard to animating the masked image and keeping SWF sizes to a minimum.. fortunately and unfortunately, the masking happens at runtime. In this case – not a great solution. However what's already on the table for performance reasons is offering an option to crop Photoshop Shape layers to their masked boundaries on import. We may be able to leverage some of this code to crop masked items on Illustrator import as well. I'll check into it and talk to a couple of our developers.

  • Flash CS4 publishes/previews with missing masked images

This has me stumped and frustrated!
I have some simple bitmaps that I've masked with graphics.
When I use the playhead to watch the movie, it looks fine.  When I preview or publish, the masked images are missing completely.
What could I be doing wrong?
    Help!
    Thanks heaps!
A couple additional notes - the layer with the graphic (symbol) is rotated and the layer above  it (mask) is also rotated at an angle.  I don't see how that should matter at all...

Thanks for the quick reply -
Here's a screenshot.  I have a total of 4 masked images throughout the movie (none of which are working).  In this case, I'm showing you "mask" (the orange box) and "photo-windows" (the image below it)

  • How can I mask a TV channel ID on a quicktime movie file?

    Hi
How can I mask a TV channel ID on a quicktime movie file?
You know, in the top right of the screen it may say BBC3.
I would like to blot this out on my Quikctime movie file.
    Thanks in advance

You would need QuickTime Pro and an image editing application.
In TV terminology the onscreen display is known as a "bug" and the best you can do is make a new video track "layer" that would cover it up.
You could make a small image file (solid color) to cover the bug or a mask track that would allow some of the underlying video show through (if the bug is transparent).

  • How to crop an image in Page?

How can I ACTUALLY crop an image in Pages to the size of the mask? Reducing image size des not work, it reduces the size of all images by reducing the quality. It does not in fact cut images to the mask shape. Any ideas?

When using the mask you get the images put behind the mask. You can change the size of the mask if you like to get the part of the image you want showing. That is the masks behavior.
If you really want to crop the image first you have to use another application for the cropping. There are many out on the net that you can try.
Download the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu. On page 138 in the English version it describes Masking images.

  • How can I mask one layer which is enough for other layers?

    Hi,
I want to know how can I mask an image on one layer which should enogh for other movie clips. Like the following ...
    1) First layer ........................ Actionscript
    2) Mask layer ....................... Rounded rectange with some design
    2) Image layer ...................... Best image (as a background for all other movie clips)
    3) Movie Clips layer .............. 10 Movie clips (which are like slides and will be act like one webpage each)
What I want is the mask layer (Layer 2) should be enogh for all the movie clips in layer 3. No need to mask in each movie.
I tried in the same sequence but it did not work for me.
    How can I do that?
    Thanks.

mouse down (and hold down) on the movieclip layer (at the left of your timeline) and slowly move the mouse up until you see that the movieclip layer is indenting to indicate it's going to be masked.

  • How to MASK_PUT an image?

    hi everybody,
i am trying to program a SuperMario in Java. while drawing Mario onto the screen, MASK_PUT mode should be used because the pixels around Mario should not be drawn. But i dont know how to MASK_PUT an image.
i am using awt and Swing. what i want to know is not a complete tutorial about image drawing. i just want to know which classes are involved in MASK drawing an image, so as that i can look for some documents.
    thanks.

i found a solution. i can use gif images with transparent background instead of using MASP_PUT. so sorry for this silly topic.

  • Pasting a masked image unto another picture, background shows

I have a photo that I wanted to show just the people and no background.  I masked the photo and have just the people.  Now I want to take that photo and paste it unto another photo that has a blurr background effect.  When I do the paste of  the masked photo the background of that photo that I masked shows on top of the blurr background .  How do I do this paste with only the people that I selected in the mask.
    thanks
    Mike

Here's a step by step overview of what I did to blur the background behind people:
    1.  Duplicate the original image as a second layer.
    2.  Mask so that the people only are showing in the top layer.
    3.  Use the mask to create a selection of the people only (Ctrl-click on the upper layer's Mask).
    4.  Make the top layer invisible and activate the lower layer.
    5.  Expand the selection to encompass a few pixels around each of the people.
    6.  Edit - Fill - Content Aware (which eliminates the people from the lower layer).
    7.  Filter - Blur - (Gaussian or Lens, depending on your preference).
If you did not duplicate your image as in step 1 above, don't worry, you can still get a second copy of the image from what you have:
    A.  Duplicate your masked image as a second layer.
    B.  Delete the layer mask from the lower layer.
    C.  Start with step 3 above.
If it's not clear to you how to accomplish any of these operations, I encourage you to look them up, so that you can become familiar with how to find out how to operate the software, but if you get stumped just ask and I (or someone else) will be happy to elaborate.
The first 2 minutes 45 seconds of this video shows how to do something a lot what you're doing here.  Instead of moving your subjects, blur your background.

Personally, I'd be tempted to just use a background image to produce the rounded corners. Then overlay that with the cell data.
