How do I merge 2 Apple IDs?

Basically I have 2 Apple IDs. I have my primary one that I set up years ago with my Hotmail address & it has all my iTunes purchases & iPhone stuff associated with it. My other one was a mobileme account, that I have since "upgraded" to an iCloud account & I now I only really use it for email. All I want to do is merge the accounts so I can use my nice @me.com email address with the account that has all my purchases. Can anybody help?

No, there is absolutely, positively no way to merge Apple IDs.

It would be totally reasonable to associate your nice new @me.com email address with your Apple ID ending in @hotmail but Apple won't let you since it is considered "already in use" by someone else. The fact that the "someone else" is you appears to be irrelevant.

It doesn't.  Gmail is owned by Google.

You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.

  • Merging Apple IDs - must be made available!

Wanting to use the features of mobile me, I didn't realise that it would create a new apple ID. My previous apple ID was [email protected]
I now find myself with music, warranties on both and I'm sick of trying to manager two user IDs across 2 laptops, Imac and Ipod touch.
The inability to merge two or more IDs is a real pain in the arse! From all the discussion I have read it is not possible.
Apple should get off their behinds and make the functionality available.
I would suggest that the functionality to be easily included in [email protected]
a migration assistant could step by step allow the end user to select apple IDs, and the content associated with them. The option to delete the former Apple ID would be a good thing too.
The more people who request the ability to merge apple IDs the sooner it will get done.
    Cheers
    Ozcar

You could send an e-mail to the iTunes Store and tell them your problem. I didn't have items purchased under two accounts, but I wanted to change my user ID to delete the @xxxx.com. (I realized when sharing my library that people could see my complete e-mail address if they did Get Info on a track. And one listener actually e-mailed me asking if they could get a copy of my library.) Anyway, I sent Apple an e-mail stating the issue and they changed my ID and assured that purchases, both old and new, would be recognized under the new ID -- which has been the case. Your case is a bit different, and I can't guarantee they would grant your request, but I'd say it's worth asking the question.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Merge Apple IDs?

I finally figured out why iCloud syncs between mobile devices but not with my MacBook--somehow I set up two different Apple IDs, and the info on my MacBook (which includes almost all my contacts, and calendar info) is under ID 1, while the info on the iPad and iPhone is under ID 2.
Is there some way to merge these two IDs?  If I delete ID 1, presumably all that info will vanish.  But I'm equally nervous about going into the iPhone and iPad and deleting that account.  Presumably that's the way to go--delete ID 2 on the mobile devices then re-sign in with ID 1--but wow, it makes me nervous.
But if they can somehow be merged, that would be excellent.  (By the way, ID 1 is an old me.com address--is that even valid anymore?)
    Thanks for any help,
    Bob

Apple does not provide a way to merge accounts directly.  But you can do it by disconnecting from account 1 but keeping data on the device, then connecting to account 2 and merging the data.  Here's how...
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, connect to the other iCloud account and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc.  Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there.  These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE:  Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account.  It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.

  • How to use multiple Apple IDS

I just bought my first iPhone and another one for my wife.  I'm trying to figure out how to configure Apple IDs to get the most out of our phones.  I'm interested in having us both share contacts and calendars, as well as use the same account for iTunes and the app store.  But we'd like to be able to FaceTime each other.  Is it possible to have one Apple ID for contacts, calendars, iTunes and apps, while use a different one for FaceTime?
In addition, my wife and I run a small business together, and it makes sense to me to use a separate Apple ID for this so that we can keep business contacts and schedules separate.. allowing us to use this same business ID for other office/managerial employees in the near future.  There are also another set of apps for the business... for example, we use Google Voice in our business.  Can we use another Apple ID for another set of contacts and calendar appointments?

YOu can share apple id for apps and music.
However you should get a separate id for imessage/facetime/icloud.

  • How do companies handle Apple IDs with the new iOS7 features?

My company has a number of iOS devices that it has purchased for employees to use.  Traditionally we have let employees use their personal Apple IDs on their company phones/tablets so they can have access to their personal purchases, etc.  It is not really feasible for us to force employees to use a corporate Apple ID as that would prevent them from accessing their personal content and there would be a revolt if we tried to implement that policy.
Now that the new iOS7 and Find my iPhone enhancements prevent you from restoring an iOS device to factory defaults without the associated Apple ID credentials, what is the recommended path for businesses to take if they are not large enough to warranty an MDM solution?  If an employee leaves the company and turns in an iOS device that is password protected, how can the company restore it if they don't have the employee's Apple ID?  Normally this is not a problem, but occassionally an employee leaves on bad terms and won't cooperate.
Is there a way to register a device to a corporate Apple ID, or otherwise "flag" the device as a corporate-owned device so the corporate Apple ID can restore the device to defaults while still allowing the employee to use their personal Apple ID on the device?

You can't rely on just Yelp. Apple Maps pulls data from a variety of business listings vendors. Here's some more detail:  How To Add a Business To Apple Maps

  • If you can't allow merging Apple IDs, at least don't lock us out of Match when we switch!

Hello. One of the things Apple stands for, in my mind at least, is enabling a mobile digital lifestyle. This involves people moving around a lot and knowing no borders. Eventually, iTunes and App Store should facilitate these concepts, instead of impeding them. I am maintaining two separate Apple IDs so that I can access content in the two countries I am a dual citizen of. I currently find it very painful to manage both accounts on my MacOS and iOS devices, what with needing to sign off and then back on to switch between accounts.
Also, I bought iTunes Match with one of my Apple IDs. And then I made a purchase on iTunes with my second Apple ID, only to discover I was locked out of iTunes Match for 90 days! Apparently, there is a silly clause in the agrements Apple makes us sign, that allows them to enforce such nonsense. This is a service I am paying for, what gives them the authority to essentially ban me from the service for 3 months?! Is this a way to reward a loyal customer who buys your products and services in two, instead of one, countries?
I know how things work with IP agreements on multiple jurisdictions, but still, this is something that Apple, of all companies, should be able to fix.
So I am calling for a way to integrate Apple IDs as the customer pleases, which will allow iTunes, App, iCloud, iTunes Match etc. content from various international Stores to be aggregated and accessible from all devices. Don't fight the Road Warrior Apple, you should be making their lives easier!

These are user-to-user forums. No one from Apple participates on them. You would be better off submitting your polite feedback via the feedback web page: http://www.apple.com/feedback.
FYI it is actually the record labels, movie studios, and various local governments you should be complaining to. They control the licensing rights and laws that Apple has to agree to and follow to run its various iTunes Stores. I actually agree with you but until the political will is there for the governments to change the laws the content rights owners will hold all the cards. So for the time being we're stuck with what we have.

  • Merging Apple IDs

Kind of half on and half off topic this, but I don't know where else it should go...
Over the years I've created a fair few Apple IDs (usually through forgetting the last one used when registering a new purchase).
Is it possible to merge them all into one ID (purely for the registration aspect)?
    Ta

I just emailed the ADC guys from the Contact Us link at the top, asking them to merge my two ADC memberships, which they did for me without a problem.
That did not solve the fact that I still have two Apple IDs though.

  • How to sync 2 apple ids

how to sync one apple id with another apple id?

Everywhere you look people appear to think SYNC means merge, it mean sync - i.e. keep everything up to date in one place across your life.
I don't think I am alone with having a personal and business i.d. - sensible, so you can keep track of personal and business but I cannot sync my contacts from the 2 accounts so that I have the same information across my work devises and home (and some that do both!)
It is the weakest of all the apple management software (love the new calendar, though).
Sorry, it appears to be an oversite by Apple that we don't all live in their singualr apple world.
