How do I merge all clips in EVENTS into one long clip so it works with IDVD

When you import a EVENT in IDVD it splits them up into the clips so you cant add more than 1 Event . I
Without importing into projects and then exporting to idvd is there a simple way to do this?

the iLife intended workflow is..:
you can not share/import/.. Events..
Events are just for storage and usage in Projects.
• you have to create a Project out of clips from your Events
• then, share to Mediabrowser..
• do as many Projects as you like..
• then, launch iDVD
• look under Media/Movies.. you see a list of your Projects..
• you can add as many Projects to a DVD as you like - as long as you stay under 120min..

Unfortunately, you can't. IDs can't be merged. You'll just have to pick the ID whose itunes account has the most purchased items.

Combining/Merging Clips into one long clip in the project bin?

I'm shooting on Panasonic P2 cards
Since P2-material comes in as an individual clip per recording, it's quite different from working the way we're used to with one long clip using cassettes. My wish is to merge these clips to one, but I'm having some challenges. This is what I've tried:
1. In Project window, I try to mark several clips and drop them to the source window, but only one of them appears at ones (the rest is in the dropdown-box above the window).
2. In Project window, I mark several clips, go to Clip, but the option Merge Clips are greyed out (why? is there a format limitation for this function?)
3. In Project window, I mark several clips, add them to a new seqence and use the sequence as a source for my main sequence. BUT, the limitation is the audio. My output should be a stereo sequence. Adding the source-clips to a stereo-source-seqence, makes of course the audio coming from the source-sequence a stereo track. My wish is to preserve four mono-tracks. I've tried making a source-seqence with a 16 track mono master, but this one won't add to the main seqence (which has a stereo master).
Does anyone have a solution?

Assuming we're talking about shorter takes and not a longer, spanned clip, I don't think what you want can be done in PP. Nesting will always bring the audio over as one track.
You may have to skim the clip sequence in the Program Monitor and copy/paste the portions you want to use into a second sequence for output. This will preserve the audio.

Apparently, you cannot do that:
Set up your Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
If you have made purchases using more than one ID, call Apple Support and state your case. I have heard that they may be able to do something to help you.
I do not know why Apple makes it so easy to create Apple IDs; they suggest creating them left and right, but make it very difficult to undo once a person realizes how bad it is to use multiple Apple IDs for the same purpose, for example, iTunes Store, or App Store purchases.

How do I merge two seperate HD's into one. I upgraded my MBP to an SSD and installed a hybrid in the optical bay.

I intially planned to use my cloned system on the SSD and the Hybrid to be used as backup, media, whatever else. But I only had access to certain program on another MBP and so I cloned it to a partition on the Hybrid. So basically I have two seperate computers each isolated from one another. I have two startup disks, 2 seperate everything. And I have to be careful when syncing my dropbox and a myriad of issues when swithing from one to the other. So does anyone have any questions about this or any suggestions as to how I can merge the 2 so that I can run the initial configuration I desired. Oh and the performance between the Momentus XT hybrid and the Intel-520 ssd are getting closer and closer as time goes by that I almost don't notice a difference, grnted my MBP is only backward compatible to 3gbs so I don't get the performance of the 6gbps capabilities of the intel. But GD its awesome.
I really would appreciate any suggestions. the machine is 15" MBP mid 2010 with 10.8.2.

I don't know that copying them from an external would be any different than doing it internally because they are physically seperated. I have tried many different configurations. It won't let me erase or format the SSD so that I can clone the Hybrid to it. Which is what I prefer to do but I haven't boot from the recovery or an external and tried doing it that way. But even then I have to boot from each seperately, what is holding me up is I've lost both product keys to office and adobe ms 6 due to the fact of not only having them so long and always upgrade using dmg's as well as upgrading os's so often. So those programs are only available on one computer. Which happens to be on a seperate internal disk. A slick unix script would be nice. I am just really tired of trial and error and would like to get back to using my stuff.

Hi Derek. Do you know where your active iTunes library is? If not download & run the script iTunesInfo which should output something like this:
I'm interested in the values of the first four lines. If needed you can hide your username with <User> if it's in there. Also worth checking that media folder location given by the script agrees with Edit > Preferences > Advanced. If not, let me know.
Which of your drives has the most free space? Ideally you should move your current library to that drive as X:\iTunes (when X: is the drive letter) and then consolidate all your existing content that wasn't inside the current iTunes Media folder. I can descibe what to do on a generic basis but with the details I can produce a step-by-step guide that will be easier to follow.

Imported clips show up as one long clip

When I import wedding footage of several dozen clips it shows up as one lengthy clip, not each clip individually split. Any idea how to import the clips so they split into individual pieces as shown in the iMovie tutorials?

Not sure why you are seeing only one lengthy clip. What type of footage is it - DV, AVCHD or other? You should be seeing a separate clip each time the camera was stopped and started. Was the camera clock set correctly before recording?
One way to expand the single clip (or clips generally), is to use the slider at the bottom right of both the Events window and the Projects window. The slider enables you to view separate thumbnails for each clip at intervals of 1/2 second, 1 second etc up to 30 seconds. There is also a setting for "All" which shows just one thumbnail per clip. So, for a 10 second clip, if you set the slider at the 2 second mark you will see 5 thumbnails (each of 2 seconds) representing that clip.
You can easily split the long clip into separate clips. Right-click (Control-click) on the clip at various points as desired, then select "Split Clip". The split clips will play quite seamlessly. You can insert transitions between them if desired, just as you could if imported as separate clips.

The subject line sums it up. I don't need or want my songs scattered into different categories all over the place. That might be fine for others, but I want only ONE list. How do I achieve this?

You can always drag and drop them into a playlist.

Help!! iphoto consolidated all of my events into one event!

15 years of organization all ruined!! What can I do? Is there a "go back" or history fix for this?
I have not down a recent time machine back up. Am I screwed? If I auto-split the events, that might be just as bad. I have organized all of these photos by hand over the years.

1 - iPhoto does not change organization - users do - you may have done something inadvertenly
2 - with no backup you have no backjup - the reason you must always have a backup is to "go Back" after an error - be it user, software or hardwary - no matter the reason with no backup you have no backup and no way to go back
3 - since you have made the choice not to have a current backup your choices now are to autosplit or do it manually again
4 - I strongly suggest that you start having Time Machine running all the time so you have an hourly backup available for the future - bad things will happen again sooner or later - and next time it may be total loss of everythign - not just of yoru organization

How do i make all my imessages go into one conversation?

My imessages between me and another contact used to all go into a single conversation on my iphone regardless of whether it was sent to their apple id email or their phone number, recently though that changed and now imessages with this contact's phone number is in a separate conversation to the same person's apple id email. It was a lot more convenient to converse in the one conversation instead of having to switch over when imessage fails on either one (phone number/apple id email) this is what i mean, the top conversation is with the person'a apple id email and the bottom conversation is with their phone number. i find it really inconvenient to have two different conversations with the same person when it wasn't like that before.

You can't merge your IDs they are separate. You should pick the one you like best and use that for everything.
