If you are planning on opening Premiere Elements 12 Windows projects in Windows computer 1 in Premiere Elements 12 Windows on Windows computer 2, then certain factors need to be considered so that you do not end up with serious media disconnect problems on the new computer. Best use Project Archiver Copy Project Option and transfer of the resulting Copied Folder (via USB Flash Drive) to the second computer. Hi. I bought Premiere Elements from the Adobe sight, about a half a year ago. now my computer broke down, and I want to install Premiere Elements again. I don't know how to do it and I can't find the serial number. I do have the emails sent to me from the sight while buying. What should I do?

What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system?
The key is the purchased serial number.
If the program was installed successful before it is likely to be registered automatically at Adobe.
Go to the adobe web site http://www.adobe.com.
Sign In.
In the Search field, type in My Products and navigate to My Products and your products.
When you get to the list, look for the name of your version of Premiere Elements.
Click on the name of that product to reveal the serial number.
Did you purchase the product from Adobe? If so, you should be able to get new installation files,
this time under the Search for My Orders. There are alternate places to get new installation files, but
let us start here with getting the serial number as the key issue.
How many computers do you have that purchased serial number on - just the broken down computer?
Adobe allows for the same purchased activated serial number on no more than 2 of your computers.
If this matter is involved, then you may have to contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat to get the purchased
activated serial on the broken down computer off your "count".

But, I would clarify this Deactivation business as it relates to Premiere Elements 4.
True, Adobe allows you to use your purchased serial number on no more than 2 computers at a time.
With the later versions, you need to go to the opened project and deactivate the program with Help Menu/Deactivate or Help Menu/Sign Out (version 12).
There is no Help Menu/Deactivate in the workspace to do for Premiere Elements 4. The deactivation option may or may not be offered you in an initial uninstall dialog during uninstall.
So what did you do about Premiere Elements 4 on the old computer? Uninstall with or without the deactivate option selected in one of the uninstall dialogs?
Depending on your answer, you may not have to contact Adobe about this type of matter.

"How do I move my Elements to a new computer?"

This means if they tell you about installing not just the program but the files and any sort of database it requires as well.
Typically in a database there are two ways of moving files to another machine.
1. Simply copy the files from one location on the old machine to the same location on the new machine.
What this would mean to Carbonite was that you simply make sure all the files that are in that location are backed up and this is done when you run the restore. The key part is making sure you get the exact file locations from them not just the rough idea of what you need such as "back up the data folder located within your documents folder" not "you back up your adobe data folder." We have to know exactly what they are talking about to make sure that we have the right files.
2. Some files are a bit more complex and require an export or backup step before going to a new machine. In that step the files are packaged by the program that uses them in such a way that all the data needed in included in that one area and in such a way that a clean install on another computer knows how to import or restore them.
If this process is required then you are going to want to be periodically backing up or exporting the data within the Elements program and then backing up the files created by that process with Carbonite. This can be time consuming and makes backing up a lot more labor intensive but is unfortunately required by some things.

If you follow the advice/suggestions that King Penguin and Demo (me) posted in this thread, you will be able to transfer everything from your iPad to another computer - even if you no longer have access to the old computer.
Transferring purchases is a breeze and it WILL work. Just follow the instructions. Remember to turn auto sync OFF in iTunes before you connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. And remember to Transfer Purchases and Backup before you proceed with anything else. The data that you are worried about losing is contained in the iPad backup when you manually create the backup - hence the importance of backing up before syncing.

A few months ago I bought Adobe Photoshop elements 12 and Adobe premiere elements 12 to my old laptop. But a few weeks ago I had to buy a new computer and that one has no cd drive :S How can I install my programs on my new computer?

There isn't much good news to offer. The first mention below is probably your only shot without purchase, unless you could find someone to transfer licenses with.
You won't be able to install a Windows version on the Mac unless you install some Windows emulation software on the Mac.
You won't be able to activate a Mac version of the software on the machine because your license/serial number is only valid for Windows.
CS5 is too old to qualify for a platform swap and Adobe no longer sells CS5 so you would have to take your chances with a third party vendor if you decided to purchase a Mac version.
Just to clarify, there is no such thing as a student version of the software... the license dictates the status of the software. So you won't be able to find a student version either

Thanks for the reply. Glad that QuickTime install resolved the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 video playback problem.
When you double click any of the thumbnails for your .mov file in the Elements Organizer 13/13.1, does the Elements Organizer 13/13.1's player open to play back the .mov file contents for both video and audio?

I was not sure if you were just going by what appears in the thumbnail, namely film strip with music note, or whether you had gone through the actual playback there. In the Apple Pro Res footage that I have, I get the same thumbnails that you are seeing for Windows Explorer. In Elements Organizer 13/13.1, the thumbnail for my Apple Pro Res file is just a film strip on gray.
I think what you are seeing is "normal" for the situation. But, please verify your observation with 13 updated to 13.1 if you have not done that already.
