How do I mininize Firefox 4?

I can't find a way to minimize Firefox 4.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== After installation.

Go to '''Tools > Add-ons > Themes'''
Select '''Default'''
Click '''Use Theme'''
Restart Firefox.
Then you will be able to minimize Firefox. It wont work if you have a persona installed. It is a bug that is surely going to be fixed.

  • How do i use firefox as a web browser on my sony tablet s when i try it makes me choose google

i bought a Sony tablet S for my wife. She wants to access a program for work from home. I downloaded Mozilla firefox to the Sony, but when I open it, and go to type in a web address, it makes me choose Google as a search engine. How can I use Firefox on the Sony tablet? I did not see it in the list of supported devices. Please help. My wife is very frustrated, because she can only open her work program using Mozilla Firefox.

    Hi Paulmozzi!
Here it is the supported devices list: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/platforms/
However, because of the large number of Android devices (phones and tablets), not all new devices could be tested yet, but the list will continue to be updated.
I am not sure if I understand correctly your issue. When typing something in url bar, you will have at least 4 default search engines (Google, Wikipedia, Amazon, Twitter), so you can choose any of them. If you want to install more search engines, here it is a useful link for that: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html (open this link using Firefox Mobile on your tablet).
If you still need more help, please let us know. Any more details regarding your issue will be very useful.

If the purchases are all from the same account then you can share the content by authorizing each device.
If you have separate accounts then you have to be authorized to use the content purchased from another account.

by installing from within Firefox, Internet Explorer has its own version (Active-X).
Make sure you are starting in the correct place for Flash

    After the download,
#bring up the download manager ("Ctrl+J") and start your installs. As soon as the install comes up,
#close Firefox with '''File > Exit''' or "Firefox" button > Exit. Give Firefox some time to close.
#If install does not proceed, '''terminate "firefox.exe"''' and '''"plugin-container.exe"''' from the "Processes" tab in the Windows Task Manager.
#* Windows 7 shortcut to the WTM is "Ctrl+Shift+Esc"
#* or on any Windows system from "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" then choose Windows Task Manager.
#*Make sure that "firefox.exe" is no longer running -- if it is still running then terminate it by selecting the use "End Process" button or from context menu, and do the same for "plugin-container.exe" if it is found there.
    #proceed with the install.
'''Warning''': this is the Adobe site and they have chosen to to provide crapware along with their own product. Only install the product you were planning to install. Do not install additional products: including -- "Free! McAfee Security Scan Plus" or "Google Chrome". Installing Google Chrome on your own and installing it because it is offered on the Adobe site are two different things.
Find updates for your installed plugins at http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck/ mozilla.com/plugincheck
-- best to use Adobe's site to really see if their plug-ins are up to date.
Please fix your caps lock or read what you type, do you think anybody could read my answer if I typed in all caps.
If the above fails to correct the problem, I would try uninstalling Adobe Flash from your system entirely first, from the control panel then "Programs and Features".

  • When a tab is close, firefox next shows the tab to the right. How do I get firefox to show the tab to the LEFT of the closed tab?

I have 3 tabs open named 1, 2 and 3. If I close tab 2, Firefox will automatically show tab 3. How do I get Firefox to show tab 1 instead of tab 3? Basically, move to the left instead of the right?
I searched about:config using words like: tab, open, close, next, left and right and compared the results on
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_About:config_Entries to get a good idea of what each entry did. Learned a lot and reconfigured other aspects of Firefox in the process! But, I would really like to alter the way Firefox processes tab closures.
    Thank you.

  • How can I stop Firefox from blocking sites that do not supply ownership information?

I am trying to access a website and I get a 400 Bad Request message. Further "research" leads to the "This website does not supply ownership information" message. I have cleared history and cookies, reloaded the page and followed all the answers given in relevant support pages but nothing works. All other browsers allow me to see the page, but I do not want to keep switching to chrome or IE. There must be a security setting somewhere that must be switched off. I find it extremely annoying to be saddled with settings I have not asked for, have no information on have no way to control. This is what Microsoft does and why I use Mozilla.

It would help if you could provide the address for an example of such a site so others may check it. Give as an example something publicly accessible and not needing registration.

  • How do I stop firefox from automatically placing the cursor in a textbox?

How do I stop Firefox from automatically placing the cursor in a text box? On certain pages such as Google.com the cursor will be moved to the search text box automatically after a couple seconds from the page loading. So I'll be typing in the address bar or something and then half of what I am typing in the address bar becomes cut off and starts being entered in the Google.com text box for search. The same happens on Facebook.com and the cursor is automatically moved to the Status Update text box. I assume this is a built in "feature" of the web page, but it's damn annoying. Especially when I start typing in my status update box on Facebook before the page completely loads and then halfway through typing (once the page is done loading) my cursor is moved to the starting position of the text area and my text is cut off.
Just the be clear the actual mouse pointer isn't being moved, just the prompt for entering text.
    How can this be stopped?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Started since I can remember

This problem has grown worse over the last couple of years. I use Firefox on Mac and Windows. I consider this problem to be a bug. Here's why: Event Driven interfaces, e.g., OSX and Windows, are never supposed to change typing-cursor focus WHILE SOMEONE'S TYPING!!!
Firefox allows websites to change focus WHILE USERS TYPE!
Hey, sorry for the caps, but I haven't used those for awhile and that's kind of fun. But really, more and more websites steal typing-cursor focus WHILE USERS TYPE.
Efff them, but really, Eff Firefox for allowing this.
It's almost like a symptom of our hyper scattered age where our attention jumps here and there.
But really... I love Firefox, some of my best friends are Firefox, they're good people, don't get me wrong, but damn it, WHEN SOMEONE IS TYPING THE UNASSAILABLE RULE OF EVENT DRIVEN DESIGN IS NOTHING ELSE SHOULD CHANGE FOCUS WHILE SOMEONE IS TYPING!!!!
    FIX THIS PLEASE.
Oh, I just ran out of capital letters. :) :) :)

How do I stop Firefox from auto-focusing on text boxes? Sometimes as a page is loading, I scroll down the page...only to have the page jump back to where there is a text box, with a blinking cursor, after the page is finished loading. It is an annoying feature and I want to turn it off.

Some pages use an onload event to set the focus to a text area or search field.
You can try NoScript to see if that blocks it.

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.

  • How can I set Firefox (in about:config?) to NEVER bother me with update notifications?

Welp, the question says it all. Or almost all of it. I DETEST the latest, MENU-LESS version of Firefox (and it DOESN'T help that, by standing on my head and spitting wooden nails in a particular direction, I CAN actually find everything contained in the old menus), and therefore I force-installed the previous version (28.0), but my problem is that I am still pestered with prompts that urge me to upgrade to version 29.0. I resent THE HELL OUT OF THAT! I resent ANYTHING NANNY-LIKE that is IN MY FACE!
So, I thought that by setting certain app.update parameters, I could be rid of that UPDATE SCOURGE - and in fact, it seems to have worked on my Linux-only desktop - but, alas, no, it is still there, still very much IN MY FACE on my dual-boot (openSUSE & Win7) desktop PC!
What, then, can I do to be rid of those update prompts? (Note that I am hoping that at some point in a not too distant future, Mozilla will offer, for each new version, a WUS and an I'M THE MAN variant, where the latter allows the user to steer the vehicle, as it were... if this never materializes, then at some point (when I deem Firefox 28.0 to be too unstable to use any longer), I will ditch Firefox in favor of an alternative that retains a semblance of the male's hobby-garage look (as oppose to HER slick, everything-hidden, kitchen-cabinet look!).
    Thanks!
I am running openSUSE 13.1 in dual-boot iwith Window 7, and it is only on the SUSE interface that I am having the problem (on Win7, earlier versions allow me to tick a 'don't install anything, ever' box via preferences, rather than having to seek a solution in about:config). Right now I am using Firefox 28.0, having force-downgraded from the latest version.

The Link I gave you above won't tweak Firefox but rather give you a brief overview on what's new in Firefox 29.
The link below will show you how to customize Firefox 29 to look like previous versions of Firefox before 29.

You can set these prefs in about:config to disable automatic updating:<br>

How do I set Firefox to be usable for all users on one computer?

I would think the about:config entries discussed are ex-factory set to values each user has to change individually, after the installation has run its course. The solution could be to have patched files ready to install post factum:

  • When I put a website Icon on my desktop, how do I make firefox use the Icon native to that website instead of the default Firefox Icon?

When I drag and drop a website onto my desktop, how can I make Firefox use the icon native to that website instead of the default firefox icon?
I have even gone painstakingly (SEVERAL TIMES) to the sites with IE, dragged the site onto my desktop in order to obtain the site native icons for my desktop (and deleted the ones with the Firefox icon) .... but they all soon revert to the default Firefox icon.
    E X T R E M E L Y F R U S T R A T I N G !!!!!!!!!

I don't want icons from the Firefox library.
I want the icon that comes from the website I'm making the shortcut for.
(If you go to a site in IE you will see the site generated icon at the left end of the URL in the address field.)
If I make IE my default browser I am able to get (and keep) those icons as shortcuts on my desktop without a problem.
I want to keep Firefox as my default browser.
So I want to know how to make Firefox accept the icon that comes from the website like IE does.
I have even gone to the trouble to use IE to create the shortcuts with the site specific icons.....but after I do that...... FIREFOX CONVERTS THEM TO THE FIREFOX DEFAULT ICON as soon as I re-boot or refresh my desktop.
I generally prefer Firefox as a browser....but If there's no fix.....I'm going to dump Firefox.

  • How can I make Firefox 4's "File Upload" window start in the same directory across all sites?

I upload webcomic image files to multiple sites every day--the same file to multiple sites--through the "File Upload" window that comes up in Firefox when you click on a site's "Browse..." file request field.
In Firefox 3 (under Windows XP), when I used Firefox's "File Upload" window to upload files, the "File Upload" window would come up showing the last directory from which I'd uploaded anything to ANY site.
In Firefox 4, on the other hand, the "File Upload" window comes up showing the last directory from which I last uploaded to that specific domain.
I'd like to know if there's an about:config setting--I couldn't find one when searching for "file," "upload," or "dir"--to revert to the Firefox 3 behavior. The reason is that now in Firefox 4, because I typically upload two files to four different web sites per day--one file to all four sites, then later in the day, a second file to all four sites--I have to switch from the first upload directory to the second upload directory in each of the four "File Upload" windows for the second file, whereas in Firefox 3 I only had to do that once. Here's how it used to go:
    In Firefox 3:
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at smbhax.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different location than file 2 from the previous day.
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at drunkduck.com: desired local directory is already selected.
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at smackjeeves.com: desired local directory is already selected.
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at comicfury.com: desired local directory is already selected.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at smbhax.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different directory than file 1.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at drunkduck.com: desired local directory is already selected.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at smackjeeves.com: desired local directory is already selected.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at comicfury.com: desired local directory is already selected.
and here's how it goes under Firefox 4:
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at smbhax.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different location than file 2 from the previous day.
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at drunkduck.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different location than file 2 from the previous day.
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at smackjeeves.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different location than file 2 from the previous day.
    # "File Upload" for file 1 at comicfury.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different location than file 2 from the previous day.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at smbhax.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different directory than file 1.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at drunkduck.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different directory than file 1.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at smackjeeves.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different directory than file 1.
    # "File Upload" for file 2 at comicfury.com: have to browse to the local directory where the file is located, since it's a different directory than file 1.
So basically, where under Firefox 3 I only had to browse through my directories twice per day to upload two files to four sites, under Firefox 4, I have to browse through my directories eight times per day to accomplish the same thing.

You can use the Remember Password bookmarklet: <br />
https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password <br /> ''Has worked for me when I have needed it to save a password on a web site that used autocomplete=off.'' As far as the Bug that '''cor-el''' linked, I can't remember ever running across a website that did it like that.
Or, you can use the Saved Password Editor extension, which includes a means of manually adding Username/Passwords to Firefox. <br />
