How do I move a 3D object in 2D space?

I'm trying to get used to the new way of doing things in CS4. Once I've created a MC and rotated it in 3D, how can I move it across the screen w/o rotating it further? I have a MC that rotates over several frames, and once it reaches the last one, I want it to stop rotating, then begin to slide in an X direction (while reducing the alpha). But no matter which tool I use or what I do on the timeline, the object is stuck in place and will only rotate and not move. Even the 2D X and Y settings in the properties panel are grayed out.

If you have rotated it in 3D, when you change the spatial (X, Y) properties, the perspective is going to change based on the 3D rotation. So the appearance will change if you move it on the Stage, based on that 3D. That means it will look "correct" over the tween, based on where it is on the stage.
If you do want to have your instance not change over a period of time, you could insert the keyframes and make sure the values are not changing. It doesn't stop it from being 3D, but it will stop whatever property from tweening. Or if you really need to tween in 2D you need a new tween span -- split the span  (in that the "skew" creating the 3D appearance absolutely doesn't change between two frames based on the instances stage position), remove 3D for that section ( split and 3D are both available by right click on the span), and then use Onion Skin to modify the instance (or trace the 3D instance and replace the instance in the 2D tween).
Or, based on the original post if you want to just stop 3D rotation but retain the 3D-ness of the instance (the skewed-ness, etc), you could just make the last rotation keyframe before the end of the tween on the Rotation Y property.
I may be able to help more if you describe what you'd like to achieve with the "2D" part of your tween.

    Do you want to move your complete Aperture library to an external volume or only selected projects?
    Get yourself an external drive that is formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled) and connect it to a fast port, Thunderbolt, USB 3, for example.
    As a precaution repair your Aperture library using the Aperture Library First Aid Tools (Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual) and make a current backup, before you proceed.
    To move all projects to that drive simply drag your Aperture library to the external drive. Then click it in the Finder to launch Aperture on the new library and test it thoroughly, before you delete the old library.
    To move selected projects to the new drive, select the projects in Aperture and use the command "FIle > Relocate originals" and select a folder on the external drive as the destination in the File Chooser. See: Aperture 3 User Manual: Working with Referenced Images

    I can load (using the StarFire 3DS loader) 3ds images just fine like this:

    Some .3ds files I can see just fine. Others look like they need to be scaled/translated. I noticed this by creating a ScaleInterpolator and applying it to the root BranchGroup on one of the .3ds images I could not see like this:

    Doing this, I can catch a glimpse of the .3ds image every now and then.
    How in the world can you scale a scene and move it to the 0,0,0 position?
    All I want to do is load a stinking .3ds image (any .3ds image) and be able to view it! I think if I could scale it and move it to 0, 0, 0 then I should be able to see them.

    Have you tried to scale the object uniformly at creation, before putting it in a scenegraph? this way at runtime you don't need to worry about objects being to big at runtime...
    for the uniform scale:
    Transform3D transform = new Transform3D();
    transform.setScale(0.02); //try different values here
    3ds_object_transform_group.setTransform(transform);
    Another thing you could do is to use a 3D modelling program (like 3DS)
    and scale the object very very small..

  • How do I move/duplicate small objects without CC 2014 live corners getting in the way!?

    Hi folks,
    I'm finding a problem with live corners on the recent Illustrator CC2014 update...
    Live Corners used to be a feature of the direct selection tool but now its on both types of selector as default... Much as I love live corners and use it all the time, its now impossible (or really bloody awkward) to move or duplicate (with holding alt and dragging) small rectangles. E.g if I wanted to duplicate out lots of small windows in a building for example. It just grabs a corner and makes its a circle. Zooming in gets around this but it doesn't really solve the problem. I'm also aware that you can turn the live corners off entirely but if I had to do that every time I needed it, we may as well go back to the days of effect>stylise>round corners.
    Anyone else come across this new frustration or have a work around?

    Oh, I thought you were talking about the gigantic corner handles, and being able to completely disable live rectangles. The internal rounded corner handles are not a problem for me because they are eternally hidden (via that very menu command) unless I specifically select one or more corners with the direct selection tool, which makes sense.

    Press and hold one of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. You can then drag the apps around the screen (don't drag too quickly though). To move them to a different screen drag them so that they overhang the edge of the screen - the display should then change (after a couple of seconds) to the previous/next screen, depending on which edge you're holding the app. When you've finished re-arranging them press the home button so as to stop the apps shaking.
    You can also re-arrange the apps via the device's Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes (whih some people find easier).

    After you create the animator, click on it on the panel, you will see a rectangle. You can drag the rectangle to bigger or smaller. The graphic will be moving inside of this rectangle. In this rectangle, bottom left corner is x0 y0.  Top right cornet is x100, y100.

    Collecting objects for Transporting
    1. rsa1->transport connection
    2. left panel choose 'object type', middle panel choose 'infocube' and 'select objects'
    3. then choose your infocube and 'transfer'
    4. will go to right panel, choose collection mode 'manual' and grouping only 'necessary objects'
    5. after objects collection finished, create request
    6. If they are $TMP, then change the package.
    7. When you click the Save on the change package, it will prompt for transport. Here you can provide an existing open transport request number, or if you like here itself you can create a new one.
    8. You can check the request in SE09 to confirm.
    Releasing Transport Request  
    Lets say you are transporting from BWD to BWQ
    Step 1: In BWD go to TCode SE10
    Step 2: Find the request and release it (Truck Icon or option can be found by right click on request #)
    Note: First release the child request and then the parent request
    Steps below are to import transport (generally done by basis )
    Step 1: In BWQ go to Tcode STMS
    Step 2: Click on Import queue button
    Step 3: Double Click on the line which says BWQ (or the system into which transport has to be imported)
    Step 4: Click on refresh button
    Step 5: High light the trasnport request and import it (using the truck icon)

    OK.
    Open the picture with the new scene. This will be your canvas.
    Open the picture with object A, select it with one of the selection tools, go to Edit>copy
    Go back to the new scene/canvas, Go to Edit>paste
    Repeat for object B
    Use the move tool to position A & B, each on its own layer. Use the corner handles of the bounding box to resize, if necessary
    You should have 3 layers: Background layer, and the 2 layers with A & B
    Note: It's best if the resolution of the 3 picture files is the same value.

    Could it be that the anchord object in question won't move because you have it set to keep within margins which is preventing the move you're requesting? I've certainly run into that.
    I've also run into the situation where the object model thinks the anchored object is in one place when it is actually in another because of that same keep within margins option. In this case, a move will apparently not work because the move is invisible, it being completely outside of the margins -- although that only applies to relative moves, I think.

    I have created a project with a group of layers which all move (have transform keyframes set up).
    Now I want to move the group, but when I do this and then run the animation, the position of all the transform keyframes I have set up remain in the same place.
    Is there some way to move a group of objects and the location of their transform keyframes at the same time, or will I have to go through each keyframe and move them individually?

    How do I move Voice Memos from my iPhone 5 to my MacBook Air, iOS 10.9.4?  It does NOT sync Voice Memos when I sync everything else, seems to just ignore the app entirely.  I need to be able to access Voice Memos from my computer when my phone is not available.

    You can transfer voice memos from iPhone to Mac by emailing. Open the voice memo app and select the recording you want to transfer, then tap on the Share icon in the left corner under the Play button. Now you have the option to send it as a Mail. Ridiculously over-complicated load of dross just to send a file from the phone to the computer. Email doesn't work for files over 10MB, leaving only iTunes, which is a higgeldy-piggeldy mishmash of unintuitive objects, many of which have little to do with music.
    Other way: transfer voice memos from iPhone to Mac with iPhone transfer app.
    The transfer should be dead simple:
    1. download the iPhone to Mac transfer, Plug the iPhone in to the computer using the cable or Bluetooth
    2. Browse all your files, like photos, videos, voice memos on the iPhone,
    3. Select what you want
    4. start to transfer

    PS: Almost the same is true for the page an object lives on. With FrameScript we use .Page, with ExtendScript you have to move up the object tree until you reach the UnanchoredFrame.PageFramePage…
    PPS: It would be great to see some convenience properties like .Doc and .Page implemented natively.

    I'll preface this response by admitting this far from an elegant solution, but I did write a function addressing this question, mostly as an exercise.
    If passed an object with an InTextFrame property (Pgf, AFrame, Cell, Fn) that resides in an open document, the function will return the Doc object. Otherwise, it returns undefined.
