How do I move a placeholder?

I'm trying to adjust the address placeholder on a template. I cannot find out how to do this ... I suspect I am using the wrong approach.
I displayed the ruler and there is an upside down triangle with a small horizontal bar above it where the placeholder appears. It is blue so I assumed that I could just drag them to the left, but I cannot. They only seem to apply to the actual text within the placeholder. I can drag them both to the right but they are just moving the text within the placeholder boundaries.
How do I select and move the entire placeholder ... either left or right?

first I want to tell you what the blue handles are. The "T" like handle is for the indent position of the first line of a paragraph. You can set it in the text inspector in the tab button "Tabs" with the number field titled "First line", too. No text can be placed before this position.
The blue triangle handle standing on the peak is for the indent position of all the following lines after the first line of a paragraph. This you can set in the same text inspector and "Tabs" tab button with the number field titled "Left".
Now I believe you know for what the blue triangle handle on the right side is for. Correct, the right side indent.
To move the address placeholder (or any other placeholder or text), you can select and drag it with the mouse. This is for moving it in a paragraph of existing text. If you want to move the placeholder in a paragraph where no other text is (empty line) you can place tab stops in the ruler, place the text cursor before the placeholder (the placeholder must not be selected) and hit the tab key onto your keyboard. Or you can use the ordinary space bar. To simplify the explanation, you can position placeholders like any other text. This implies textboxes, too.
In your case you can't drag it to the left, because the first line left indent handle doesn't allow this, if I understand it correct. You have to move the handle to the left.
