I've seen the answer to this, but it doesn't work for me. I purchased a movie on my computer and want to transfer it to my computer. I've read:
once downloaded, click movies button, select the movie and click move. The rented movie does not appear in my "movies" it appear under "rentals"
and I have no option to move it.

Sync it as you would anything else.
open itunes, connect ipad, select what you want, sync

You turn iCloud Photo Library on in Settings > iCloud > Photos. However it doesn't "empty" the pictures to the cloud. The most you can do to free up space using iCloud is to turn on Optimize Storage to keep a smaller device-sized version of the photos on your iPad. All of your purchases are available free again from the stores. You can delete them and when you want to access them again just go to the store under purchased and select the ones you want. I do this all the time on my 16 gig ipad.

My family and I have shared the same itunes account/appleID and have waay too many devices to keep track of. Presently there are 3 of us, we are homesharing the account on our individual lap tops and each have our own iphone and ipads backed up our personal laptop. We've had some confusion with devices mixing and matching our email addresses and phone numbers for facetime and messaging - this is the real reason I want to seperate the accounts. However, I don't want to lose anything I purchased on my new ipad, including the updates.

how will I be able to delete the association of my devices to the exisiting appleID or will that automatically occur when the devices are given a new apple ID? I know a homeshare is limited to a set number of devices and I can't remember how to take one off.
Should I turn off homeshare at my laptop since my laptop and devices will switch itunes accounts from that of the spouse and teen?

My father intends to give me his iPad Air. Before I take over the iPad and reset it he had asked me to transfer all the photo's on it another device.
He has an apple SD Card reader that connects to the iPad so is it possible to transfer the photos from the ipad to the SD card ?
If not, what other options are open to me to save these photo's to an alternative device ?
My knowledge of how to use an iPad is very very minimal - I'm new to the iPad and currently struggling to understand how to use it.

Photos will NOT transfer off the iPad to the SD card. The camera connection kit is for import only.
Your easiest thing will be to use a service like Dropbox or other cloud service. Upload the photos there, download them where you want them to be. There may also be some photo apps that have better transfer services, but I don't have any to recommend.

HT1202 I get how you can transfer purchases from a device to computer but what about the hundreds of songs on my iPad that were from CDs and non purchased? How can you move them from iPAd to computer if it wants to erase and sync?

I am needing to transfer ALL content, not just purchased, to new computer and it wants to erase and sync because device is associated with another Library. Please help!

What was the source to get that content onto the iPad?
There has to be a middleman to get from CD to iPad - use
