For some reason I have a tune on my iPad which is no longer on my PC (not sure how that happened). Is there a way to move a tune from my iPad to the iTunes library on my PC?

You don't have to move the songs back into iTunes if you don't want to, the songs are still in iTunes on your computer - you just copied a version of the songs onto the iPad from iTunes.
If you want to remove them from the device itself, just swipe across the song while you are in song list mode in the music app and a red delete button will pop up. You can also tap and hold down on a playlist or a album icon and the X to delete will pop up. It will not work for Genius playlists.
You can also connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes, select the iPad on the left side, click on the Music Tab on the right, uncheck all of the music that you want to remove, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes, and that will remove the songs from the iPad.

If the entire library (database & media) is already on the external drive (in the right layout) then you should be able to connect to it by holding down shift as you start iTunes and then choosing the library. It is a very easy thing to do. If you bought the apps with your Apple ID you can always download them again for free - using that same ID - in the purchased tab of the App Store. If you bought the apps, you can keep them all.
What I would do is ... Before you give her the old iPad, transfer all purchases into iTunes on your computer, backup your iPad with iTunes and sync one last time. Then when you get your new iPad, restore form the old iPad backup and sync with iTunes and the new iPad should be identical to the old one.

I have several videos on my iPad (recorded using the iPad camera). I am trying to get these transferred to my PC-Windows. When I connect the iPad to the PC and try drag-and-drop from the Camera icon, video files greater than 600MB appear with a zero (0 KB) size on the PC.

Yes, I have tried. All smaller videos and photos transfer fine. It is only with videos > 500 MB that get created on Windows with 0 (zero) size (the file name gets created on windows but with 0 Bytes).
Let me add that I do not see the "DCIM" option from Windows Explorer. I only see the folder under Scanner and Cameras.
Anything I need to do to see "DCIM"? I do see DCIM when I connect my iPhone 4 to the same computer, but not the iPAD.

you can try to take a snap shot of the screen. to do this open your calendar, hold down the home key and quickly press & release the power button, release the home button the same as the power button..... if you do it right the screen will flash and you will hear a camera shutter sound. the snap shot will then show up in your pictures under the camera roll section. at that point you can print it to a wifi printer, or just email it you and print it out from your computer..... i don't know if there is any other way to "print" the calendar.
