How do I move an itunes account to another computer without losing my information, How do I move an itunes account to another computer without losing my information

HELP!!!!

Tim's solution creates a "new" library with the same media, not quite what you want. Try this alternative:
Backup your library using this User Tip.
Deauthorise the old computer if you won't be using it for iTunes.
Restore the library into the music folder on the new computer.
Install iTunes and sign in to your account.
If you've already installed iTunes delete/move the empty library out of the way first. You can use the same technique given in the tip for the backup to clone the library to the new machine.

  • How do I move my itunes account from one country to another?

How do I move my itunes account from one country to another?  I set up my itunes account in the United States and now I live in England.  I would like to transfer my purchases from my US account to my British account and then download them onto my new ipod.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes and I have updated my Windows 7 operating system.  I have tried to get in touch with apple and the advisor said he could not help me.  Ideas?

Before you change the country, note the following:
    - you must use any remaining store credit on your account
    - download all purchased content
    - ensure you have no current rentals(if you do, you'll have to wait for them to expire)
    - provide a new payment(such as a credit or debit card) associated with a valid billing address in the UK or an iTunes Gift Card purchased in the UK
    - content purchased from the iTunes Store is country-specific. If you wish to upgrade any of your iTunes Store content to iTunes Plus, you'll need to do this before you change countries. The content you purchased while your account was set to the previous country will not be eligible for upgrade once you've changed countries.
    - after you change countries, you will no longer receive application update notifications in iTunes for the apps you purchased in your original country. However, you'll still receive update notifications on your iOS device for any applications installed on it. In addition, you'll be able to download previously purchased applications again for free if they are available on your new country's store. You will not be charged and the download will not appear on your Purchased page. If a previously purchased application is not available in your new country, you will not be able to download it again for free.
    - If you have an iTunes Match subscription, you can't change countries until the subscription has expired.
    - If you have purchased a Season Pass, you cannot change the country associated with your account until that season is done airing and the last episode of the season has been added to the iTunes Store.
Taking the above into consideration, here's how to change your country:
    1. Open iTunes and click Sign In.
    2. Enter your iTunes Store account name and password, then click Account Info.
    3. On the Apple Account Information page, click Change Country or Region.
    4. Enter the updated information and save your changes.

  • How to move iTunes folder to second user account

I upgraded to Win 7 and created two user accounts.  The home account has the iTunes folder.  I want to keep two separate iTunes accounts, one for each user.  How do I safely move the iTunes folder from user 1 to user 2?

You can copy it the public folder, then log in to the other user and copy it into the users Music folder.
If they don't already have any music loaded, you can drag the original iTunes folder to the desktop and replace it with the one you copied to the Public folder.
Alternatively, you could keep all the music files in the public folder and let each user have their own library database that uses the public folder for the music files.

  • How to move an iTunes account

My situation is that I have several users with their own accounts, each with their own iTunes account and their own iOS devices, on my OS10.6.8 iMac.
I would like to move the iTunes accounts and contents to new user accounts on the same computer, and I'm looking for the best way.
As a result of various issues and general bugginess, I've realised I need to do a clean install of 10.6. Some of the issues I'm trying to get rid of are system level, others are account specific.
The two oldest accounts (started in 10.4) can no longer access MAC help, sometimes the DOCK process goes crazy and uses up all available CPU and RAM, and mobile me has come to a grinding halt. Not to mention kernel panics, and system events which log 1000's of error messages per second because some process has too many filkes open, and some process I can't track down which tries to spawn itself several times a second.  @!!$#^!.
I've checked and don't think any of this is caused by iTunes.
I have everything backed up 3+ times: Time Machine, a bootable disk image, some dmg's of the user accounts, and a SuperDooper disk image. I have all the install disks and licence keys.
What I would like some advice and comment on is: how do I move the iTunes accounts and content from the old users accounts on this "version" of the system to new users accounts in the  next version of the System?
I could use migration assistant and import the previous user files into the new accounts, but I don't want to import ALL the user settings. But if I do that, will the purchased music files be useable in the new account, and will syncing with the existing IOS devices still work?
I could use migration assistant to set up the old accounts on the new system, authorise both accounts with he same iTunes account, and copy the user files over. Then kdeleauthorise and delete the old account. Same questions as above. Sounds less risky this way.
    Is there a better way?
    Thanks!
( Once I get this the system clean and stable with 10.6.8, I plan to migrate to iCloud and Lion. But I really don't want to migrate first, and then try to fix issue in an OS I am just learning )

    SlippySlope wrote:
Were you saying that you have two user accounts (one one the old Mac and one on the new Mac) or two Apple IDs with your music?
Read the original post. The user used Migration Assistant to copy files from an old computer to a new one. This creates a new computer account with the old content. The user then had two accounts on the new computer with content the user wished to merge.

  • How do I move DVD digital copies from my iphone to a new computer's itunes account, same Apple ID?

I just got a MacBook Pro and I also have an iphone. My current main itunes is on a PC that I will not use any longer. I have several movies on my iphone which came with DVD's as digital copies, not purchased through itunes store.
In the past, I've lost these kinds of movie digital copies through syncing my phone on a new computer. I don't want this to happen again but I am totally lost since these are not itunes purchases.
How can I sync my iphone on my new mac's itunes and not "erase and replace" all the movies currently on my phone? Or how can I get them onto my Mac's itunes account so when I do sync my iphone, they'll still be there?
    Thanks!

It's best to copy from your old computer to your new computer before syncing your phone with your new computer for the first time:
    http://osxdaily.com/2010/03/21/copy-itunes-library-from-a-pc-to-a-mac/
If everything were from the iTunes Store, you could do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1329
Since it's not all from the iTunes Store, you should copy your library from your old computer to your new one, as noted above. If that's not possible and you can use only your phone as the file source, you will need to use a third-party utility such as Senuti:
    http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
There are many similar utilities. Some work just as well as Senuti and are even free.

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

I've an apple ID used to buy off iTunes and a mobileme account for the calendars and contacts. How can I move the calendars and contacts to the older apple ID and use it for iCloud?

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
    2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
I learned this not to long ago and worked for me. Hope this helps you!

  • How do I move my iTunes account to a new computer?

Recently bought a Mac, my itunes account is on our laptop. How can I move that account to our Mac? I've authorized both computers to share info and have downloaded all the info from our laptop to a 'time capsule'.
In the end I want to juist log into itunes on the Mac and have all my info there for my music and be able to sync my iphone without having to take a bunch of different steps to look up the info.
    Please Help!!

Copy everything from the old computer to the new one.
The Apple store will do this for you or you can call Apple support and they will help you.
You can also type "move itunes library" ot "move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.
If the old cpomputer was a Mac, then use migration assistant to move everything over, or copy the entire itunes folder from old Mac to new Mac.

  • How do I share my movies with my wife's iTunes account on the same iMac, without having to actually copy the movie into her library?

I apologize if this is already in the forum somewhere, I simply could not find this question being asked anywhere.  We have an iMac running Lion with all of the latest updates as well as the latest version of iTunes.  All of the digital movies we've purchased through iTunes, have been purchased through my iTunes account.  However, my wife is the one with the iPad, and syncs it with her own iTunes library and her own Apple ID.  I have turned on Homesharing for my library, and she can see my library from within her iTunes account.  We turned on the feature to automatically copy new movies into her library so that she could sync those movies onto her iPad.  However, I quickly discovered that it is literally storing a second copy of the movie file in her iTunes folder, and therefore eating up precious hard drive space.  Is there a way for her to "check" movies in my homeshare library from within iTunes to sync with her iPad when she connects it, without actually copying those movies into her iTunes folder?  If not, any suggestions on how we can solve this issue?

What you're describing is the expected behaviour.  I believe though that is also is the easiest way to have all the contents available to both of you at all times.  If you have a spacious hard drive you should probably allow this to happen as anything else will be harder to manage.
My suggestion would be the following if you want to try something different.
Store all your music at a location that is accessible by both of you — an example would be to use your Public Folder as the locations where iTunes will go and look for all the media files—.  Your wife does have access to it.
In the Finder you will need to move the folder name iTunes Music to the location in your Public Folder (see above).  Once that's done, you and your wife will have to go into the iTunes Preferences > Advance Preferences and un-check Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library.  From this point on, you can continue to use iTunes as usual.  You'll need to tell your wife what has been newly downloaded/imported into your iTunes so she can manually go look for those items in that Public Folder iTunes of yours and import them into her iTunes.  She will not duplicate by doing that, but, like I say this is an all-manual work.
She can do the same, so you have access to contents she imported herself.  One more downside of this is that both usernames have to be active in your iMac.  If yours isn't, she won't be able to access any item (song, book, app) located in your Public Folder's iTunes.
I'm sure there's a way, if you have an router with external hard drive conectivity, for both of you to be able to access —independently— the iTunes Media at all times but I was just reading at another post that doing so can further complicate things.
Hope this helps.  Please let me know what you think or decide to do.
