How do I move email in aol folders to my gmail account?
I figured out how to move current email in aol to a folder in gmail.
How do I move aol folders of email to gmail, where I want them to remain in those folders?
Yes, AOL supports IMAP, and I have an account set up in TB: http://gsfn.us/t/422mi
Set up the AOL account as IMAP in TB, and once the folders have downloaded, drag the messages to Gmail IMAP folders, assuming you have Gmail set up in TB as IMAP.

How do I move emails into file folders
how to move mail into folders on the Mac pro
Hi. When in your mail app you can click on the individual mail you wish to save in the mail header window. the top box not the content box. Then go to file /save and you get a drop down box where you can select where to save to and the click on save.

How do you move emails in Mail (5.3) to a flash drive so that it appears as it does in Mail my MacBook OS 7.5?
Can you explain in more detail what it is you want to do? I'm not clear how moving messages to a flash drive would make them appear as they do under Lion.

How do I move emailed photos to iPhoto with Lion? I've lost the drop down option.Karen
How do I move emailed photos to iPhoto using Lion? I've lost the previous drop down option.
Thank you, KarenThere are multiple ways. I am not at my Lion machine at the moment, so I am not sure I can remember them all, but here is one: Click on the "Details" button in the upper right corner of the message. If there are image attachments, the drop down menu should appear.
Or, try right click on the image. I think I saw "Add to iPhoto" in the contextual menu. -
How do I move all my files from one User Profile (account) into another?
I needed to create a new account and want all of my files accessible in the new one.ok, what you're learning right now is 101 unix, which is good. Unix is a good thing
now: the way unix works, and macos (which uses unix underneath) the files and folders work like a hierarchy.
the start of that tree is /
so, if you were to do:
cd /
(cd means change directory)
it will bring you at the highest branch of the file system.
cd /Users
will bring you to where all the users are.
to see whats in /Users you can use your friend ls command
ls means list files/directories
so:
cd /Users
ls -la
(the -la here means show all (even hidden) and long format (very verbose)) this flag is very optional.
you will see
fred
user2
for example.
if you want to see the desktop of user2 you would change directory to it then list the files.
for example:
cd /Users/user2/Desktop
Note that the files and directory are case sensitive, so, desktop is NOT the same as Desktop, or DESKTOP
ls -la
you should then be able to see everything in users2 desktop
you could have done as well the same thing in smaller steps, for example:
cd /
cd Users
cd user2
cd Desktop
this is the equivalent of cd /Users/user2/Desktop
So, for your file, i don't know where it was, but know that if you log in as user2, it will directly put you in
/Users/user2
which most likely the file you had created from the other user was in /Users/user1
if you copied all the files from /Users/original_user to /Users/secondUser
most likely yes, all your mail, bookmarks etc would be copied over.
so in your case.
sudo chown -R seconduser:staff /Users/secondUser
should work
Remember that if you start a path with the character / it means start from the root of the file system, at the highest top you can ever get.
so
cd /Users/fred
is not the same as
cd Users/fred
unless you were in / already
i know it may be confusing at first but it's actually very logical if you play with it.
to simplify, think of it that / means C:\ on windows
you can't go any higher than C:\ (in a way)
if you're unsure which directory you're currently in, you can always type:
pwd
it will tell you where you are.
for example:
cd /
pwd
this shows /
cd Users
pwd
this now shows /Users
cd /System/Library
pwd will show /System/Library
cd /
cd /Users
cd fred
cd Library
pwd will show /Users/fred/Library
unix can look very scary but it's actually vital and very necessary to do tasks sometimes that would take for ever to do via the windows. This is good learning.
so for the myfile you had created, i can't tell you where it is, at the time you created, if you can do a pwd command you'll know the path,
ls -la (this shows all the files where you are)
if you see myfile in the list
do a pwd
whatever is return, the real location of the file would be:
whatever pwd returned / myfile
I hope that makes sense. -

how do I find my outgoing mail server info for gmail account setup?
Most current Mac systems have a preloaded set of information and settings for the common email providers. Try just choosing gmail and enter your userid and password at the prompts and see if the preload configures correctly for you.

I need to save an online file to my ipad and then email it as an attachment from my school email? It is my college gmail account and I can't add it to my mail app. This was an assignment for class to make sure we could use the BB email system.
You can use your gmail account within the native Mail app using IMAP
Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Gmail settings
Open the Settings app on your device
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Tap Add Account...
Tap Gmail
Enter your account information, being sure to use your full Gmail address, including '@gmail.com'
Tap Next
Tap Save -

How do I move my contacts and folders from Earthlink Webmail to Thunderbird
Just installed Thunderbird and I want to import all my contact addresses and saved folders from Earthlink Webmail to Thunderbird Mail.
Install thunderbird.
Create a mail account.
'''If POP mail account:'''
Tools > Import
select 'Mail'
click on Next
Pop mail accounts can only see the server Inbox. It downloads all previously not downloaded mail to the mail account Inbox.
Pop mail accounts cannot see any other fodler on the server. This is not a Thunderbird quirk, this is how all pop mail accounts work no matter what the email client.
To get emails downloaded from other folders on the server.
* Logon to webmail account.
* Move emails into Inbox.
* In Thunderbird click on GetMail.
* when emails are successfully doownloaded move them into suitable folders.
'''If IMAP mail account,'''
you need to subscribe to see folders.
then synchronize folders to keep local copies if desired.
more info on IMAP:
* https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/imap-synchronization#thunderbird:win7:tb24
'''Contacts/Address Books:'''
In webmail, export the address book/contacts in a comma separated .csv file and save to your desktop.
In Thunderbird
open 'Address Book'
* Tools > import
* select 'Address books'
* click on Next
* select 'Text file (LDIF, .tab. .csv, .txt)
* click on Next
* locate the .csv file you download
* click on Open
* map fields to match Thunderbird fields -
When in mail i would like to move my emails to a different folder on mail account other than the inbox, sent and trash options, can i create a new folder?
The suggestion above is for MailBoxes on the Mac in the mail app and have nothing at all to do with the iPad. I think that you are asking about the iPad mail app.
You need to have an IMAP email account in order to create additional mailboxes on the iPad.
If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well. -
How do I save emails in a specific folder in my Documents, NOT in the email account folders.
Thx,
BeginnerOpen the email, do a save as have it save to the location you want from the drop down menu (You could select desktop and then drag it into a folder in documents) and click save as a .rtf.
Or you can copy and paste into a document (Word, Pages, Text Edit...) Make a folder and put it in docs. -
I have been storing my photos separately in folder and importing it in iphoto without actually copying them. Now to free some space in my hdd i want to move some of those folders to an external hdd. How do i do that without affecting my iphoto albums. ????
Well, strictly speaking, you can do this. Two ways. One is tricky:
How are you at editing SQL databases?
This user found a way:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3216539?tstart=30
But tread very carefully - get it wrong and you'll hose everything. Make a back up first.
The other is expensive:
Purchase Aperture, and if you have the latest versions of both these apps, then you can open the Library with Aperture, and use the relocate Masters command.
Or, in the end, make a managed Library. A Referenced Library is more work for zero gain.

How do I move emails from my main inbox to subfolders
I am trying to move emails in groups from my main inbox to a subfolder and it wont let me?
For instance I search for a name and say 10 emails come up with that name. I try to select them as a group of 10 emails and drag them to a subfolder but they wont go.
If I click on several emails WITHOUT using the search feature it WILL let me move a group however this is much less efficient.
Any ideas??Hi,
Before we go further, I’d like to confirm if your account is Exchange account.
If yes, we can use OWA to check if the issue is totally related to the Outlook client.
If no, I recommend you ask for help on our Office forum:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-us/home?forum=outlook
Additionally, here is a workaround: create Outlook rule:
Apply rule on message I receive
With specific words in the subject or body
Move it to the specified folder
Please note in the last page, we should select the option "run this rule now on messages already in "inbox"".
If you don't want to move the further emails, we can delete it after applying.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,
Angela Shi
