How do I move from MobileMe to iCloud on a macbook??

I already went through the "move your mobileme account to iCloud" procedure on my macbook several times but still cannot access the iCloud settings on my mac - each time I open iCloud I am asked to first move my mobileme account iCloud??

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If I recall correctly, I logged out of my MM account on my second installation before logging into iCloud, after which I logged back into MM and it told me mail, calendars etc were disabled because of iCloud, but still allowed me access to my iDisk etc.

  • After I delete emails, they return (recent move from MobileMe to iCloud)

I recently moved from mobileme to icloud without difficulity. However, I've noticed after I read and delete emails, they return. I've check preferences and have verified the "store deleted messages on the server box" is unchecked as it should be.
Is anyone else having this problem/do you know how to fix it?

Well, unfortunately I don't have a single solution.
However, my apple mail account seems to have "fixed itself". I had already deleted the icloud account in apple mail preferences and set it up again (twice), but that was not the fix because it continued to save all deleted emails in the inbox.
Almost two days later I woke up one morning and started deleting emails thinking it wasn't going to work and to my supprise it did.
All I can say is if this is the only problems us three are have for the moment we've gotten off pretty easy. Just give it a little while longer and hopefully it will fix itself.
I appologize for not being much more help.

  • TS4003 Move from MobileMe to iCloud Error

Anyone have an idea on how to cure the error message when moving from MobileMed to iCloud?

What error message. Some users have found they need to log out of mobile me before migrating.

  • Why can't I move from Mobileme to iCloud after it asks if all my devices are ready and I say yes?

Why is there not  a continue button when moving from MobileMe to iCloud after it asks me if all my devices are ready for it?

    Are they ?

  • HT204053 Can't move from MobileMe to iCloud

When I select iCloud in System Preferences, the only option I am given is to move to iCloud. When I select that option, it takes me to a webpage saying mobile me is closed with a link to iCloud.com. When I go there and log in with my MobileMe account, it says your Apple ID must be used to set up iCloud on an iOS or OS X device before you can use iCloud.com. I click on the learn more button and it bring me to the apple webpage about setting up iCloud which brings me full circle to selecting iCloud in System Preferences. Additionally, when I go to the apple ID webpage to manage my account, my .me apple ID is there with all my information still intact. Any suggestions.

After posting this I came up with a possible solution but I am waiting for some additional input before I try this. There is probably a preference file somewhere I can delete and then the iCloud system preference will no longer direct me to move from Mobile Me to iCloud. Then I will get the same screen that is shown on the apple website instructions, which will ask me to log in, or create an Apple ID. Presumably, that will allow me to enter the old Mobile Me information and it will be reactivated as an iCloud account.

  • 'Move from MobileMe to iCloud' link does not seem to work

Trying to migrate to iCloud from new MBP (not mine but I have an account on it which works fine and syncs with my iphone and older macs) running Lion but when I click the link on me.com it simply opens a new window at me.com with the same page and link showing. Clicking this link does the same thing.
The reason for me using the account on my partners MBP is because I do not want to upgrade my old Mac as I still use Rosetta.
Any ideas? Am I being stupid? Has Apple disabled or blocked migration to iCloud?
From a very early Mac user.

Not sure how to do that but when i go into system preferences it brings up the you must move from mobile me  move to icloud screen and then I go through all the steps and get the same result> Hope this is clear

  • Lost trying to Move from MobileMe to ICloud

I am stuck in an endless loop. I try to turn on photo streaming and it tells me to move my MobileMe account to ICloud I Click the links and all I end up with is a page to ether find my IPhone in MobileMe or I click a link to ICloud and it wants to find my IPad. I have not been able to find anyway to move to ICloud and none of the documentation explains how to make the move.

Some users have noted that turning off mobile me sync services and back to my mac, has allowed them proceed with the upgrade to iCloud. My upgrade occured as it should have so I can't confirm this workaround works.

  • Move from MobileMe to iCloud.

I try transfer my mobileme to icloud, it say everything was ok, but it delete all my calender on all my devices :-(
very sad.. I think Apple have a very big ISSUE...
Anybody know or hear about how to get my calender events back.
    / lars

I had a similar experience, and my situation is not dire as I can get to all my old stuff, but here is my story.
I updated, and got the clean ical.  I have several macs that I sync, and when I got to my office, I hadn't done the icloud upgrade, so I opened ical, and it complained that it couldn't sync with me.com (which was great).  I did a backup of my calendar (also printed it too), and I was in business.  I upgraded my office mac, got icloud going and it was all good (and of course my calendar was then blank but no problem, I have my calendar backup).
When I open up ical, I do the import and I get a message about restoring and how it will replace my iCal data.  That is exactly what I want.  I press restore, and it is all there for about five seconds, and then, whoose, blank again.  I went to icloud.com and logged in there, and I see no way to upload a calendar directly.
I guess that it isn't that big a deal to have a typing exercise, but if I could do the upload and have it take, that would be great.  Any ideas?

  • How to fix my move from MobileMe to iCloud?

I tried to synch up my devices to iCloud, but it didn't work properly. It seems that I entered my Apple ID instead of my MobileMe address, and I only have Snow Leopard on my Mac, and not Lion. The iPad has the contacts correct, but it didn't import the calendar. The iPhone now has 3 duplicate entries for each name. My up-to-date info is on my Mac, that has Snow Leopard, and not Lion. My MobileMe account thinks I have sucessfully moved to iCloud, so I don't know if I can still synch up my calendar and contacts between my Mac and my iPhone. Ths is the most critical piece I need. How can I fix this?? Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect you have two main Mail windows open. This might seem like you have two Mail.apps open.
If you click on the red close button, does the window close?
    Quit Mail.
    Open Mail.
Does it open in two windows again? If yes, it could be a corrupt plist file.
For example, if I select New Viewer Window.
The result would be two windows open. Mine also includes Preferences window open to Accounts.
i usually never get anything solved by writing here but when you spend a few thousand, one expects the product to work and for customer support to be intelligent and able to actually do their job. so i hope i can find a solution to this.... someone... anyone?

  • Unable to move from MobileMe to iCloud

I just updated my OS to Lion yesterday when I received my iPhone 4S so I thought it would be a good time to migrate to iCloud.  I've been trying for 24 hours now.  I go through all the required screens, accept the Terms of Service and the next message I see is "Please try again later.  Due to high demand, we are unable to move your account at this time.  You can continue to use MobileMe."  I understand what happens when there's high demand, but this was launched in October.  Why am I having trouble migrating now?  The iCloud status page says all services are online and I've tried the migration from two different computers.  Any info on this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • HT5225 ical lost after move from mobileMe to iCloud

    Hi,
    Can someone help!!
I signed up to iCloud early on and thought everything would be fine after 1st of July when iCloud came into effect.
All my contacts, photo's movies and everything else are all still on my computer and phone.....
BUT all my ical entries have been wiped. And I have only realised now that mobileMe is no longer working.
What do I do.  I spoke with Apple and they have said there is nothing that can me done.
Does anyone know any tricks.  You will need to be specific as I am not a computer nut too by the way!!
Appreciate anyones help, my life is in there!!
    thanks

I don't think there are any 'tricks', sorry; there are only things that you can do if you'd had any sort of a backup strategy and have some resources already in place.
If you have a full backup of your hard drive, then you also have all of your old iCal data which can be pulled out and repopulated as of the day that the backup was made.
If you'd ever taken a snapshot of your current iCal status via the iCal > File > Export route, then you could rebuild from there.
Beyond those, not too much to try.

  • Will I loose all my Mail signatures when i move from MobileMe to iCloud?

With Mobileme ending, I am forced to move to iCloud.
Looking at the conversion notes, I saw a warning that Mial Signatures will no longer be available in iCoud?
This puzzles me. Can someone clarify what this means.
I currently use many signatures in Mail (on my Mac) which I have created and I do not want to loose the ability touse those signatures.
Do all these signatures disappear in iCloud, or am I simply misunderstading the warning.
Again, my question is specific signatures in Mail on my iMac (not on my iPad).
    Thanks for any help.

If your signatures are associated with mail accounts other than the mobile me account, they will remain after migrating to iCloud. If you have any signatures associated only with the mobile me account, copy them to All Accounts, to save them.

  • HT4918 I have to move from MobileMe to iCloud, my iTunes has another ID address, can I change the ID as the same in MobileMe? That would solve the problem?

Can someone please help me with this?? Thanks a lot!

Welcome to the Apple community Wongo.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photosstream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
Basically if you migrate your MobileMe account, it will not affect your iTunes account in any way.
