How do I move iCloud notes to ON MY MAC?

Short story:
I had to move my notes from ON MY MAC to iCloud in order to move them from a broken system to a new system. Now, I am on the new system and am trying to firgure out how to move my notes out of iCloud and keep them ON MY MAC. If I disable iCLoud syncing I can start adding notes to ON MY MAC. However, when I resync to iCloud it merges my notes. This is really weird, because I know that with my earlier system I had the two coexist.
How do a move my notes? -- and I have more than 3,000, so it is not copy and paste.
Long-story:
The first time I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion none of my notes came through. There seems to have been some kind of big in the upgrade process. So, I went back to my Snow Leopard system (yes, I made a copy before upgrading) and this time upgraded to Lion before going to Mountain Lion. When I did that I was able to get my notes into ON MY MAC in Mountain Lion.
So, on Monday I had my disk die. This was a bummer, but fortunately I had a Time Machine backup from earlier in the day. So, I boot into the recovery partition and restore from TIme Machine. Only problem is that this time Mail was unable to restore any of my local mail boxes (I have about 300,000 messages and got a message about "running out of space" before stopiing -- even though I had 125GB available. In addition to the Mail problem, there were problems with missing fonts. Apparently, there are still quite a few bugs in Time Machine for Mountain Lion and who knows what else I discover as time progressed.
Fortunately, I still had my trusty old Snow Leopard image on a separate partition. I decided to do another Mountain Lion Install and migrate from that partition. However, I knew that I was going to lose a bunch of recent notes that I created in Mountain Lion, so I copied all of my ON MY MAC notes to iCloud. I even tested to ensure that I could move them back. I also copied a bunch of recent couments to a thumb drive to restore later as well. So, I spend forever doing the install and migrate and in the end everything was working -- except I can't get my notes back to ON MY MAC.

I finally solved the problem. I upgraded all of my stuff  to Snow Leopard. Now, I can have some notes local and others on me.com. It really wasn't worth it "living on the edge" with Mountain Lion -- especially with a work machine.
For anybody else thinking of going bacl to SnapLeoppard from Mountain Lion it was fairly painless. Here are a few pointers:
I was able to archive email boxes in Mountain Lion and import them into Snow Leopard with no problem.
If you keep around a Moutain Lion partition you can easily move documents back to your SL disk using the SL finder.
Moving notes was a not as bad as I though. I simply shared  all the new notes in ML and emailed them to myself. You have to do one Note as a time which wa a bit of a drag though. However, from SL you just drag the email messages into the Notes and they are fully usable. I did go an copy them one by one into real notes, biut I'm not sure that that is necessary.

  • Know how to automatically sync iCloud notes on Outlook for Mac 2011?

    Hi People,
I've decided to use Outlook for Mac 2011 instead of Apple Mail. Does anyone know how I can setup Outlook notes to sync automatically with my iCloud Notes?
    Much appreciated
    Kind regards
    Doug

    You can't.
Outlook for Mac is not compatible with iCloud except for email. See Microsoft's statement here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2648915
Until Microsoft decides to start supporting the industry standard protocols iCloud uses, Outlook for Mac is useless.

  • How do I move my notes in the "On My IPod Touch" folder to the "iCloud" folder?

How do I move my notes in the "On My IPod Touch" folder to the "iCloud" folder?  I don't see where or how they are being backed up and want to make sure that they transfer to my new device.

    Hi,
I will recommend you to get a Mobile Me account, it can sync multi devices like an iPod Touch / iPad / iPhone, of course, included your computer flawlessly.
    For details, you can refer:
    http://www.apple.com/mobileme/
If you not prefer to get a Mobile Me account, you can sync both devices by using computer.
First of all, make sure the iPod Touch have not been ever synced by other computer. Otherwise, all the notes and contacts in your iPod Touch will be replaced by your computer information. (or iTunes will ask you to merge all the info, some data lost may occur.)
Connect your iPod Touch to the computer, in the iTunes, your connected iPod Touch will be shown on the left column, select it, on the right hand side is showing your iPod Touch details. Then, select "Info" tab (on top), check "Sync Address Book Contacts" and "Sync notes" in the "Other" section. Then click "Sync"
Suppose the selected / checked option will be synced. After sync is complete, eject your iPod Touch, connect your iPad, do the same setting as you did for your iPod Touch, and sync it.

I understand that when you use this method it will wipe out all the existing albums you may have created on the iPad from photos taken there. I'm afraid to try it and I can not get any albums transferred using iTunes to my iPhone. My problem  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4492272

  • How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process?

How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process? The source Macbook (OS 10.4.11 and iPhoto 6.0.6 (3.2.2.)) is with my husband in Germany, the target MacBook Pro (OS 10.8.5, iPhoto 11) is with me in Japan. Thanks for your help.

I copied the iPhoto Library to a CD and from there to the new MacBook
If you copied the library to the CD via the Finder it would be no different than the methods Terence suggested.  If you used the Share ➙ Burn menu option from inside iDVD you'll get a mini library that has to be accessed from the open library and the events/alubums copied into the destination library.  Not the same as the other methods.
The Share ➙ Burn method is no longer supported with iPhoto 9 and later.

How do I get iCloud to work with my mac that has snow lepard and is pre intel?

    Richard Kerns wrote:
And it kills me that a friend who has pc computers and just has an iphone and ipad can breeze through all this with no problem and he still has XP.  So Apple goes back and helps old OS for pc but not for it's own kind!!!
Richard, I agree with you 1,000%. I wrote this in a forum a few weeks ago, when a user was complaining about Snow Leopard not supporting iCloud:
Why is it that if I bought a Mac before July of this year, I must pay to upgrade my operating system in order to take advantage of iCloud? Meanwhile, a Windows Vista SP2 user, who bought a new computer in May 2009, already has everything they need on their computer to use iCloud.
Why was it possible for Apple to write a free iCloud Control Panel that was compatible with existing versions of Windows, but Mac users must buy an entirely new operating system?
If Apple gave Mac users the same amount of backwards compatibility that it gives to Windows users, people with OSX 10.5 (Leopard) would be able to use iCloud. That's something to think about the next time you go to purchase a new computer.
(P.S. Something else to think about: If you bought a Mac before October 2007 (when OSX 10.5 was introduced), your computer won't run iTunes 10.5 unless you buy an upgrade. But a PC user, who purchased their computer as long ago as Sept. 2004(!), can run iTunes without an OS upgrade.)
I got so angry thinking about this, that I ended up writing an angry note to Apple on their feedback page. After repeating what I just wrote here, I asked them to commit to providing at least the same level of support to Mac users that they do for PC users when it comes to their cross platform products (iPhone, iPad, iCloud, Apple TV, Safari, iTunes, etc.) And, really, is that so much to ask?
I wish I knew how to start a petition requesting that Mac users get comparable treatment as PC users. But then again, shouldn't that go without saying?
Please leave feedback about this revolting double standard on the Apple feedback page. They should be thinking long and hard about why their own customers are treated worse than the customers of their competition.

  • How Can i Move iCloud Email to Another Apple ID

    Hi There
    I have 2 Apple IDS
Apple ID 1 is linked to my imessage and linked to an @me.com email address
Apple ID 2 has no icloud email
I basically want to move my icloud (@me.com) email address to the Apple ID 2 and use that for iMessage as well as my Apple ID
When i change my icloud username to Match Apple ID 2, it doesnt wants me to create a new icloud email address.
How can I move my icloud email address linked to Apple ID1  to Apple ID 2?

I don't believe you can.  @me.com email addressses are permanently tied to the iCloud account that created them (in your example, ID1) and can't be moved.

How can I move my iTunes library to my new MBA?
I also plan on purchasing a new iPhone in the next month or so.  Can I move my songs from my iPod to that too?

Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.
iTunes: How to move your music from one computer to another
Once your music library and everything else you want to transfer from the MacBook Pro resides on the new MBA, sync your iPod to the MBA. Sync the iPhone too when you get it, and they will both have identical iTunes music libraries.

  • How do I move an iPhoto project to another mac?

Reading through the threads it seems I must move the entire iPhoto library.
    However a few questions:
    1. I don't want to mess up the library on my target mac with the older library that contains the project.  How can I import the library without causing a problem to the good library
2.I assume I can connect firewire, and do that transfer, but how specifically, does one do that?  connect the macs with firewire, then what?
thanks I am kind of a mac noobie.

OK an update.  I put my old computer into target disk mode, renamed the iphoto library to "iphoto library old" and dragged it to the desktop of the new computer.  I guess I can use it on the desktop, but really what I need to know now is can I MERGE the two libraries?  I deleted all the old projects except the project I want before transferring to the new computer, so all I really want to do is MERGE the libraries.  So I guess question 1 above still stands. I don't want to mess up my new iphoto library....
lastly, I don't want to use third party software to merge the libraries.  Isn't there a way to just export the project?
