How do I move Iphoto albums to Seagate Backup Plus

Hello all,
I bought the Seagate Backup Pus I was told it works well with mac and pc. I was able to move folders of photos that were on my pc and USB drives easily to the seagate, but I cannot figure out how to the albums or events I have on iphoto. I keep getting the "unable to create / Volumes/ Seagate Backup Plus" message when I try to export the album. I have read and searched but my limited knowledge on this has been stretched. I am just trying to clear up some space on my mac.
Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
Thanks in advance for any light on this issue.

  • How do I move iPhoto albums off of my computer?

I have made some albums in iPhoto that I want to move to an external hard drive. Just the albums, not the whole LIBRARY. However, I cant drag them or do anything with them. I tried copying and pasting the pictures into a new folder on my hard drive. It works, but doesnt keep them in order. PLEASE HELP!

The Finder's default sorting option is alphanumerical and that's why you're not getting the same order as you had in iPhoto.   If you want to have the photos in that specific order outside of iPhoto you will have to sequentially rename the photos inside iPhoto via Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with a sequential number added at the end of the file name:
and then export them to a folder outside of iPhoto with the titles as the new file names.

  • How do I move iPhoto library to a wireless, remote HD?

How do I move iPhoto library to a wireless, remote HD?

    Same as any HD.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
But Note: A strong warning: If you're trying to edit the Library (that is, make albums, move photos around, keyword, make books or slideshows etc.) or edit individual photos in it via Wireless be very careful. Dropouts are a common fact of wireless networking, and should one occur while the app is writing to the database then your Library will be damaged. Simply, I would not do this with my Libraries.

  • I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?

I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?  Presently after exporting and burning each photo is identified by the file name rather than each individual title description.

File name and Title are not the same thing.
Filename is attached to the Jpeg file in the Finder.
Title is attached to the photo within the Jpeg file - as is the description. These are written to the Exif and IPTC metadata on export.
So: File -> Export. Kind: Jpeg or Tiff and Check the box at 'Title and Keywords'. This will write the Title, keywords and descriptions (though not explicitly stated) to the metadata. This can then be viewed in any app that understand this material.
You can choose, if you wish, to also use the Title as a Filename - that's an option at File Name

Thank you for helping me out here!!

Not sure you can - you may have to re-ship
What version of iPhoto do you have? What country in Europe? Do you have a local credit card for that country?
If you have iPhoto '11 which you do not mention try setting the iPhoto print products country in the iPhoto preferences and see what happens

Select the Album and Export it to a folder on the desktop.
    Burn that with the Finder.

  • Okay so I have a Seagate Backup Plus Drive External Hard Drive and I'm trying to get it to backup Applications and stuff on the dock such as iPhoto, and Photo Booth.

It's one of these External Hard Drives. I go to the Finder folder and go to the "Seagate Backup Plus Drive" to see what's in there and what I assume is that backups but the only thing that seems to be in there is folders from everything that is Desktop and a few Documents. The Applications folder seems to be empty and there are no folders for Photo Booth or iPhoto. Everything from GarageBand and iTunes seems to have been backed up according to the Seagate Backup folder when it is plugged in and opened. How do I get this thing to backup everything from Photo Booth and iPhoto? And by the way, I can't seem to access Time Machine the way you get it to where you can go back in time and see all of your stuff from previous dates. I don't know if this is important or a crucial part but I seem to not be able to access the actual time Machine Layout.

Simple on that one - Download Carbon Copy and follow the steps below:
if you have access to an external USB enclosure use it, or you can buy one for $10...
install your new ssd in the usb enclosure - connect to your macbook...
open disk utility and format/erase your ssd - mac os extended journaled.
open carbon copy - clone your drive with it - source (your old drive) + destination (your ssd).
once the clone is done, turn your macbook off - take old hard drive out - install new ssd in....
turn your macbook on - if boot time is more than 40 secs to desktop - go to system preferences - startup disk and select your new ssd as the startup disk - restart your macbook - should be about 14 sec boot time now.
install your old hard drive in your usb external enclosure and use it as a backup drive.
    good luck

  • How do put files on   my external hd (seagate backup plus)

I have the seagate backup plus.  I installed it for the mac.  I just want to move files to it so i have room on my hard drive

    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
You can transfer files manually using drag and drop. You can perform backups using a backup utility or by enabling Time Machine in OS X preferences.

  • How can I transfer files from one external HD (WD My Passport) to another external HD (Seagate Backup Plus)?  WD drive was improperly ejected and Finder no longer recognizes it.  Tried fixing with Disk Utility but failed.

How can I transfer files from one external HD (WD My Passport 2T) to another external HD (Seagate Backup Plus 2T)?  WD drive was improperly ejected (although we did tell it to eject) and now Finder no longer recognizes it.   Using MacBook Pro and I just upgraded to Yosemite before this happened. Was told at Apple Store to use Disk Utility to repartition, but it failed.  It says to backup files and restore.  But how do I backup files?  Or would appreciate any other suggestions to repair drive.

You may drag & drop between external hds.
    Should you run into trouble.
Take the exernal drive appart.  Take out the harddrive.  Try reading the data via a usb adapter. Put a household finan on the hd.

  • How do I reformat my External Hard Drive (Seagate Backup Plus).

Hello everyone. How do I reformat my External Hard Drive (Seagate Backup Plus Portable Device). I accidentally clicked to use it with Time Machine and my hard drive is of little use now. When I open my hard drive, it just shows 'backup', the same thing when I open it with Windows. Thinking of reformatting it back to be used to Mac and Windows. And not use it again with Time Machine. New to Apple, appreciate the help

    Hello,
"Thinking of reformatting it back to be used to Mac and Windows. And not use it again with Time Machine"
If you want to format the External drive as universally compatible, your best bet is to format it as exFAT. Note that reformatting the drive erases all contents of the drive.
    1) Open Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities/ (or simply type it in spotlight and the application will show up)
    2) Select the external Hard drive
    3) Click the 'erase' tab.
    4) Under format: select exFAT
    5) Click "Erase" in the lower right hand corner to reformat the drive.

  • Seagate backup plus won't read

So my seagate backup plus external hard drive won't be read by my Mac.
It's functional, I can hear it running fine when I plug it into my USB port but the only place my mac show's it's connected is in the system profiler, no where else.
I can't find it in the Finder or the Disk Utility.
Any ideas of how to get it to read?
I have important documents on it.

If the HDD is formatted NTFS, then it suggests that there is a problem with the PC.  Check with the manufacturer.
    Ciao.

  • Time machine, seagate backup plus

Hi ive bought a seagat backup plus external hard drive. Ive been using it to transfer files from a pc to my new mac. When i originally used it for the first time, i think it asked me if i was using it between both windows and mac formats so i said yes, and this has worked seamlesly.
Now all my files are on the mac, i want to use it for a time machine back up. Upon trying this it failed because it is not in the correct format i think.
So here is a couple of questions....
1- How do i give it the correct format?
2- Some of my family still use the windows pc, and i would have liked to have still been able to use the hard drive across both formats. So if i format for Time machine, will this not then be possible?
    Thanks.

Sorry, an external that is used only for Time Machine.
see > Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac
Because sooner than later, Time Machine will use all the space on the drive.
