How do I move Itunes into a different folder?

A year or so ago I was messing around with Itunes trying to move something somewhere (I don't remember what). Since then, I now have a handful of Itunes program files that permanently stay on my desktop including: Album Artwork (folder), iTunes Media (folder), iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, Sentinel, iTunes Library.itl, and iTunes Library.xml . I've tried deleting them and moving them to other folders - they just pop back up again on my desktop. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but the problem persists. To my knowledge there isn't any loss of functionality, but I would still enjoy them to go back to where they belong. I'm running Windows 7 for what it's worth, and I just updated iTunes to its current version.
Thanks in advance for any tips to fix this.

Are you trying to move items from the Dock? They're just aliases, not the actual applications. You should find all your games in the Applications folder.

  • How do i download itunes to a different folder

My work laptop requires me to download personal software to a localapps folder within the C program files area. iTunes downloads automatically to a predetermined locatipn on the C drive and does not offer a location choice. How can I get passed this problem?

    You do not.
iTunes like all programs is installed and only runs on the main drive (C) of the computer.
You can move the media to another drive.
    Close iTunes.
Move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the default location to the desired location.
While holding the SHIFT key, launch iTunes.
When prompted to create a new library or locate existing, choose the option to locate existing.
Point iTunes to the new location.
Then go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and change the location of the iTunes library there.

  • HT201737 how to move files into a finder folder

how do I move files into an existing folder in finder on MacBook Pro?

I am attempting to move some EXEL files that have been saved as documents.  When I open finder, these files do not appear in the recent, or last 30 days section so I need to search fro them.  When they are found they are not on the page where the folder exists so I don't seem to be able to drag them to the folder.

how to brighten movies downloaded into itunes?

    Turn up the monitor brightness.
If these are not iTunes Store movies you could try viewing them in a player such as VLC which I believe offers video adjustment features in one of the many options.

  • I have imported a Zip file, mp3 music to desktop. How do I move it into iTunes?? I have tried drag/drop, import to library, both without success. Can anyone help, please.

I have imported a Zip files, mp3 music to my Desktop. How do I move it into iTunes. I have tried d/drop and also Import to Library without success. Can anyone help, please?

Many thanks to Limnos and King Penguin.
I have discovered! I needed software to Unzip and was directed to Stuffit from the App Store. Suddenly it is simple.
    Download Zip File to Desktop.
rt>  Zip        >Open with.....     >Stuffit     Progress Bar: 'Expanding' follows. Then a blue folder (manilla) returns to Desktop.
Open iTunes     >File     >Import to Library      From drop down select  the now expanded contents of Zip file, then     >OPEN
iTunes takes over and imports -  Job's Done!!
    Thanks again

  • How do I move itunes library from my ipad back to my itunes library in my windows computer ?

How do I move itunes library from my ipad back to my itunes library in my windows computer ? All the songs got transfered by mistake from my windows itunes library to my ipad. All i had wanted to do was to move a select # of songs newly purchased from my ipad to my ipod but I got mixed up. Before i knew it all teh library had been moved to my ipad?  HELP!

You don't have to move the songs back into iTunes if you don't want to, the songs are still in iTunes on your computer - you just copied a version of the songs onto the iPad from iTunes.
If you want to remove them from the device itself, just swipe across the song while you are in song list mode in the music app and a red delete button will pop up. You can also tap and hold down on a playlist or a album icon and the X to delete will pop up. It will not work for Genius playlists.
You can also connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes, select the iPad on the left side, click on the Music Tab on the right, uncheck all of the music that you want to remove, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes, and that will remove the songs from the iPad.

  • When saving a bookmark, only three of my folders are shown, though I have many ... how can I save into a different folder?

I have several different bookmark folders, but when I want to save into one of them only three are shown ... always the same three, and no apparent reason for only these to be chosen. I cannot get the complete list by using the right-hand down arrow, and "choose" doesnt show any of my own folders, only Unsorted Bookmarks and Bookmarks Menu. I have to save the bookmark into unsorted, then move it into the desired folder. How can I do this in one step?

  • How do I move iTunes from a dead computer?

My iTunes currently resides on a dead computer (hard drive failure). How do I move iTunes to my laptop PC (Vista) without losing all of my music/videos (on iPod) or apps (iPhone)?

Don't think you can get anything from your Dead computer.
Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the same music on your new PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music/videos, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

I have 2 ipods on same account( 2 different kids in household) how can I separate them into 2 different accounts?

There are actually a few methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Just to summarise what's in the link above:
Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries.
Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. If you've had no success with this you can have a look through the guide on this page: Loading songs onto iPod automatically
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
You can read about Windows user accounts here: Using Windows XP User Accounts

  • How does one move iTunes (& iPhoto) to external hard drive?

How do I move iTunes and my entire iTunes database to an external hard drive? What folders and files do I need to move? Do I need to create a "music" folder on the external drive? I have an enormous music collection -- some 700 CDs -- and I would like to have them all in my iTunes database, but there is not enough room for them all on my MacMini hard drive.
Similarly, I would like to move my iPhoto database to the external drive. What folders do I need to move?
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod 80 Gb

Thanks - I had a look and they are both there on my external HD, the same name, size and date as on my computer, so that's ok, I must be backing them up as you say.
But, they don't have the same icons - the XML file is described as a "REALbasic XML project" instead of "Text document", while the iTunes Library file doesn't have the iTunes logo, and is described simply as "Document" and not "iTunes Database File". Does that matter? Will it matter if I ever need to restore from them?

  • I have a laptop with a bad hard drive,  my iTunes library is on an external hardrive. How do I move iTUnes to a new computer and have it work?

  • C drive is full how do I move iTunes to d drive?

How do I move iTunes from one drive to another? My c drive is full I changed my preferences to d, yet I still can not back up my iPhone or iPad. I think I need to move iTunes I am just not sure if I should uninstall from c and reinstall to d?  Any suggestions or help.
    Thank you
    Sue

Copy the entire iTunes folder from your music folder to D:\iTunes.
Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down the shift key. Keep holding until asked to choose or create a library.
Click Choose and navigate to the file D:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
Check the library is working properly.
Use the option File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate Files to import any stay files to the new library folder.
Delete the old iTunes folder on the C: drive.
Ideally you will also backup this library to another drive.
