How do I move music from itunes store for an old ipod to a new itouch device

I just bought a new itouch, and wanted to transfer my music from itunes to new device.  do I just plug in and go or will it be a security issue?

That's basically what you do...
Connect the iPod and select it in iTunes.  If the iTunes sidebar is not showing, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Click on it to select it.
With the iPod selected in iTunes, there is a row of buttons toward the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  If the iTunes music library is small and fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Then click Apply.  With this setting, everything in the iTunes music library syncs to the iPod.  Whenever you make a change to the iTunes library, such as adding new songs, iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes, the next time it is connected (or when you click the Sync button).  If this works for you, you don't have to read the rest.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  A convenient way to use this setting is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  You can call it "iPod Songs," or whartever you want.  From the iTunes music library, add the songs you want on the iPod, such as those iTunes Store purchases, to that playlist.  Back on the iPod's Music screen, find "iPod Songs" under Playlists, and select (checkmark) it.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, when you want to update the songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or when you click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • How do I move music from early gen. Shuffle, to Ipod library on new computer, so when it syncs, I won't lose purchased, downloaded music?

Sure this has been asked before, sorry, didn't want to read thru a million threads. Was able to upload SOME purchased tunes from older shuffle to new computer's library, but I want to move EVERYTHING from shuffle to new computer Itunes library so when I sync it, it won't erase all those purchased tunes. I can't access my old library on old computer, because the old computer won't even turn on. THANKS

For songs purchased from the iTunes Store, you can use iTunes to transfer them from iPod to computer. If you are not already, log into the iTunes Store using the same Apple ID used to purchase the songs.  Under File (in the iTunes menu bar), select Transfer Purchased from <name of iPod>.
For other songs, there is no way to transfer from iPod to computer using iTunes.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that will allow transfer of song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," it should give you some links (add "mac" to the search if your computer is a Mac).
Once the songs files are safely on your computer, add them to your iTunes library and then sync the shuffle.

How do you move music from iTunes on a pc to an ipad2?

Connect your iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes under 'Devices'. On the right-hand side there should then be a series of tabs, one of which is Music - select that and you should be able to select which of your computer's iTunes music to sync to the Music app on the iPad, and then sync/apply that selection.
This page refers specifically to the iPod and iPhone, but the principle is the same for the iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351

How do you move music from itunes in a XP computer to an iPhone 5?

You copy the content of your iTunes Library to the iPhone by connecting to the iPhone to your computer, using the USB lead that came wiht the phone, and allowing iTunes and the iPhone to Sync with one another.
This will leave the content in your iTunes Library. An iPhone (or iPod) is not desinged to be the only location for your music (or other content). The idea is that the iPhone (or iPod) has a copy of the Library.

If you want to drag and drop, then check manually manage music.

In iTunes, highlight your iPhone under Devices in the column on the left.
Then choose the Music tab at the top and choose which music you want on your iPhone.
    Couldn't be simpler than that.
If you want some of your pictures on your iPhone, choose the Photos Tab and choose your photos.
The same with Movies, Podcasts etc.

  • How do I move music from itunes to ipod nano

Holy crap - add this to my list of reasons I hate Apple products with the intensity of a thousand suns.
All I want to do is move songs my daughter purchased with her gift card to the iPod Nano someone gave her. In a normal world, one would login to itunes, connect the ipod to the computer, select the track(s) in the library, and click "move to ipod", but this isn't a normal world. This is appleland where nothing makes sense
    Can someone help?

  • How can I download music from itunes store at a higher bit rate than 128k?

I have been able to import music from cd's at bit rates higher than 128kbs by clicking into the preferences item under the "edit" drop down menu. however, I have not been able to locate a similar command for itunes music downloads. is it possible to increase the bitrate of music downloads from itunes faster than 128kbps? if so, how?
    gateway   Windows XP   AMD 64

No, store downloads have always been ONLY 128 kbps. With new deal between EMI & Apple, sometime next month you will be able to download EMI artists only at a higher bitrate without the DRM, for a slightly higher price. For now, though, all downloads are still 128 kbps. Your import settings only affect the CD's you rip your self. Hope this helps.
