How do I move my contacts and folders from Earthlink Webmail to Thunderbird

Just installed Thunderbird and I want to import all my contact addresses and saved folders from Earthlink Webmail to Thunderbird Mail.

Install thunderbird.
Create a mail account.

select 'Mail'

Pop mail accounts can only see the server Inbox. It downloads all previously not downloaded mail to the mail account Inbox.
Pop mail accounts cannot see any other fodler on the server. This is not a Thunderbird quirk, this is how all pop mail accounts work no matter what the email client.
To get emails downloaded from other folders on the server.
* Logon to webmail account.
* Move emails into Inbox.
* In Thunderbird click on GetMail.
* when emails are successfully doownloaded move them into suitable folders.

open 'Address Book'
