I presume here that your husband currently has his music on the new computer and you are now trying to connect your iPod. If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list. If you want to keep your existing songs on your iPod go to Edit>Preferences>iPod>Music tab and change the update setting to "manually manage songs and playlists"
There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

If most of your music is purchased (or all of it), you can use iTunes to transfer that purchased music to your new computer (iTunes will ask you).

I want to move my itunes library to my new pc. I have purchased some songs on my new computer and downloaded them to a cd and put them on my ipod nano using my old pc. I now want to transfer my entire library on my old computer to my new one using an external drive or flash stick. The old computer will no longer be used. The new computer will now be my 'home' computer. I have some lengthy instructions on how to transfer the library using my ipod, but i don't know how to use a flash drive to do it...instructions, please. (my old computer is windows 2000 xp...new one is windows vista)

Choose Consolidate Library from the Advanced menu in iTunes, confirm this action, open the Advanced section of the iTunes preferences, check the path for the iTunes library, and move the folder at that path to the corresponding location on the new computer, using any method necessary to transfer the data.

At the moment, my iTunes library is split across two hard drives, (22gb roughly on each). This was mainly so that if one drive failed, I didn't lose all my music. Anyway, I now have two 1tb drives and I want to move the entire library into a centralised location on one drive. I recently installed a new and bigger hard drive and wanted to move my itune library to it. Someone here said that if I do that, I will have to manually reintall each song into Itunes. Is this true? is there a way that i would move it and cause minimal effect?

I had a problem with my computer and my entire iTunes library ended up being erased along with other files. Though I have all of the music on my iPod still and I want to transfer it back to my iTunes library. Is this at all possible since I did not backup my songs in any way before the library was erased? I really dont want to import all of my cd's again since it close to 10,000 songs so any info would help. I was able to get my iPod to show the songs when plugged into iTunes but it wont let me import the songs or playlist other than just playing them. I cant even burn a cd using my iPod files. What can I do to make get my songs back please help?

First, look in your music folder for your songs. If they are in the folder then just readd them to iTunes via File>Add file/folder to library.
If you want to repopulate iTunes using the songs on the iPod then use 3rd party software to do this:
