How do I move my large iTunes collection from a case-sensitive hard drive to a case-insensitive hard drive?

I currently keep my iTunes media on an external hard drive because it takes up too much space on my machine. I recently discovered that it was formatted as case-sensitive when I bought it, and now months later I'm having issues. When attempting to back up my files on a case-insensitive hard drive, the operation failed due to conflicting file/folder names (Artist and artist are now considered the same file name and one would have to overwrite the other). I now have a large iTunes file collection that is stuck on the case-sensitive hard drive, and I want to save a backup on a case-insensitive drive.
Is there a way to identify all cases where multiple files/folders have the same title/album/artist but different spelling so there will be no conflicts? The folder/file names would have to be crossed referenced to highlight any cases where File/fiLe/file would cause a problem.
I imagine there is a way to do this using iTunes script or Automator or a command in terminal or something rather than going through and checking/fixing all the information for thousands of songs by hand. I'm at the limits of my minimal development skills, so any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to use either "Carbon Copy Cloner" or "SuperDuper" (free for this purpose) to copy your case-sensitive volume to an empty case-insensitive one. Make at least two such copies on different drives. One is not enough to be safe.
If there are any name conflicts—that is, files in the same folder with names that differ only in case, such as "File" and "file"—then you will either get an error or one of the files won't be copied. You must ensure either that no such conflicts exist, or that the consequences are not important. How you do that is up to you. Unless you went out of your way to create conflicts, they probably don't exist.
Then erase the source volume in Disk Utility as case-insensitive. This action will remove all data from the volume.
Restore from one of your backups using the same application you used to create it, or use the "Restore" feature of Disk Utility, which will be faster. Search its built-in help for the term "duplicate" if you need instructions.

It did not do so. I have therefore tried to find the command sequence within iTunes (on the Mac) for moving the material from the memory stick to the iTunes library. Cannot find those commands. Does anybody know where to find such commands. I have to say, I am really disappointed that such a simple function would prove to be beyond my capabilities. My iTunes collection is big--2,000 GB (2 TB). It grew up on my first-generation Drobo, attached to my Windows laptop. I recently purchased a Mac, and a Drobo FS. The DroboApp Firefly was my planned method of execution, until I discovered that iTunes 10 broke it. No more iTunes server.
I'm a software developer, and fully-prepared to doctor the iTunes XML files, if need be, but I would prefer not to do this. Right now, it looks like a lot of search and replace strings on the XML files to convert the old catalog to the new one.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Music/ as the path, drag the entire iTunes library to the external drive, and if desired, then to the iMac's internal one. If you put it in a different location than the default, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it there.
If the library contains rented movies, those won't play on a different computer.

Yes I copied the itunes folder. Before I copied it I opened up to see what was in it: album artwork, itunes, itunes media, previous itunes libraries, itunes library extras, itunes library genius, itunes library, itunes music library. After copying and pasting the itunes folder I checked my new laptop and the same files listed above copied over.
When I drill down the itunes folder to the music, it's on my new laptop. When I open itunes and click on playlists, I only have the music that I purchased from itunes. It does not include everything else I loaded into itunes and any other playlists I created.

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content

I have a large iPhone Video File that I cannot transfer from my iphone to my flashdrive as it is too big.
I realize that I can reformat an empty flash drive using Disk Utilities and I should then be able to transfer the file.
My question: What do I select when reformating the flash drive so that it will be accepted by both a PC and an iMac?

ExFAT would be the best file system format, as it will handle files greater than 4GB.
If exFAT is not available, go for FAT32.
Just FAT is too limiting, so avoid that

Plug your iPod into your computer, and pull up iTunes. When it loads, you should see your library with all of your songs on there. If you look at the individual album covers, you should see little clouds in the top right-hand corner. Click on that, and it will download. Hope this info helped!

All your library consists of is a text file telling iTunes which files it should include in its listing. It doesn't have your music. Your music is in the files scattered around your computer in your case. You need to do the long process below, first consolidating, then moving the complete library (= the whole iTunes folder):

Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.

You just need to move the music files to the new PC. And then add them to iTunes on that PC.
You can also try moving the iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files as well. They hold the song data for your library. They are usally found in C:Documents and Settings/<<Your User ID>>/My Documents/My Music/iTunes/. This usally seems to cause problems though so I would skip it.
The music files can be in any number of places on your PC. If they came from the music store they will have extentions like .m4p, .m4b, and .m4v. If you ripped them from CD they will probablly have either .m4a or .mp3.
How you move them is up to you. You could burn them to CD/DVDs, copy them over a home network, or move them with your iPod. There are a lot of catches to that last option.

I need to restore my phone back to last Thursday when the information was on my phone. I wished I had known this before I said yes to using icloud. I guess those things will be lost and gone forever, since I do not want to lose my present settings and data. Also do not want to go through the hassle of backing up present, then resetting phone, then restoring oldest back up, then backing up oldest backup to pc, so I can safely backup selected items to my pc; then reset my phone again to restore latest back up. It would take way too much time and no guarantee.
I backed up my phone to my pc, but have not checked it yet, so don't know if it worked.
