How do I move or scale my wallpaper?

Ever since the iOS7 update I have been unable to move and scale pictures when setting my wallpapers. The screen always centers the picture and scales it automatically to fill the entire screen. As you can imagine, this isn't always how I would like my wallpaper to look. I would appreciate any suggestions, thank you!

It appears no longer to be possible in IOS 7. See the many unanswered questions in the "More Like This".
I use a work-around:
Scale and crop the photo in the photos app to the section you want to use.
Take a screen shot by holding down the power button and home button at the same time, The screenshot will appear in your camera roll.
Use the Photos.app to set this screnshot up as your wallpaper.

How can I move and scale my photos so that I can use them for wallpaper?  After update, I'm no longer able to do this as much as I need to.  They just pop back to their original size or larger.

You will either need to turn Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion 'on', or create a higher resolution versions of your images
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5595 :
When the parallax effect is on, you may notice the following:
Wallpaper, icons, and alerts shift slightly as you move your phone.
When you set a wallpaper in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo or image will be slightly zoomed and can't be scaled to fit the screen.
If you zoom in, you will need to rescale your wallpaper to fit to the screen. You can't rescale certain photo formats, including landscape or square images.

How do I move and scale pictures on I pad mini I can move but not scale

You can go into the settings, accessibility and turn parallax motion off. THis is what makes it look 3D, like your icons are floating on your screen. It helps a bit because to have that 3D, your wallpaper needs to have an overlap off the edge of the screen.
ALso, if you go into the photos app, find your photo, send it to be wallpaper (the box with the arrow poking out of it) you will have a bit more control. The higher resolution your image is the more you will have.
Some have also reported some progress rotating their image. For example if your picture is landscape (wider than it is tall), when you go into the photos app, hold your iPad in portrait mode, taller than it is wide. Do the send to that way and see if it helps with you having more scaling room

  • I cannot move and scale my wallpaper photos, they are too large. Using the lastest iOS on iPad and iPad mini

I have accidentally changed my wallpaper, now when I try to put my old one back it is zoomed in and I can't "move or scale". How can I get the picture back to normal?

    Hello,
This is a big issue, there is a workaround though and some of you may not like it, but here it is and you can decide. It would appear that in order to centre an image in ios7 you need to create a canvas larger than the image. It would appear that Apple have used the 1680 by 1050 format. My recommendation is to create a canvas of 1536 pixels by 1040 pixels and then centre an image of your choice of 1024 by 768 pixels if you wish to see your image in the horizontal format. If you want to view your wallpaper image in the portrait orientation I would recommend an image no larger than 768 pixels wide. You can do this in most imaging software or even in Keynote if you have it. I have sample here if you like http://www.williamsartand photography.com/Untitled.jpg.
    Nothing ventured nothing gained

  • Since the new updates am unable to move and scale a photo when trying to apply it as wallpaper or to a contact.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

SInce getting the new updates I am unable to move and scale a picture when I am trying to assign it as wallpaper or as a contact. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

It's a known issue. You do have more control if you go into the photos app, resize etc and then send it to your wallpaper. It wont' be perfect, but better.

  • HT1476 My Iphone 5s does allow my Iphone to use panorama photos to be a live wallpaper, when i want to go set one of my panorama photos to be a live wallpaper it only say "Move and Scales" why is that?

Hi i just recently brought an iphone 5S and i hear about the live wallpaper using panorama photos. I took a panoramic photo on my iphone, and i went to set it as my wallpaper but it says "Move and Scale" shouldnt it say "Wallpaper Review"? why is this happening?

I live in China as well and my iPhone5s is the model A1530 I bougth outside China. I have the same problem as Nikatnight with the iPhone while the iPad Air (wifi only) is working like a charm. It must be definitely something related to the carrier since I was abroad few days ago and everything worked well.
If you pay attention at the source of your maps, you'll discover they are provided by AutoNavi instead of TomTom and make them appear in chinese with their own border interpretation. Queries are only acceppted in Chinese (p.e. if I type in english "Los Angeles International Airport"  it replies it cannot locate it)
I suppose everything will be fine when you'll be out of censorship....
Perhaps iOS  Apple Maps are absolutely useless for expatriate in China.
    Use Google Maps instead
BTW, I'm surprised how much Apple might prostrate towards hard power Governments.... No matter what, money are always on top!

  • Why can't I use my photos as wallpaper on iOS 7. It says move and scale.  but you can't move it much and you can no longer make it smaller to fit?

Before the new upgrade iOS 7 you could move in scale your personal photos and use as background wallpaper. You could make them smaller move it up and move it down to fit the screen. Now you can only move it side to side and you can't make it small by pinching the screen. So when you're through and you made your wallpaper background the picture is too big to fit the screen. Is there a way to make the picture smaller so it fits as it did before the upgrade?

    Hi Susan588,
This article has instructions for disabling the parallax feature, which will allow wallpaper to be resized again:

  • Since downloading iOS 7 can't move and scale pics for wallpaper?

Any tips on how to move and scale pics for wallpaper?  Cannot be done since downloading iOS 7

I have tried a lot of the suggesstions I've found here and on the web -- the "Accessibility >> Reduce Motion" on/off stuff, editing the original image in Photoshop and e-mailing it to myself (downsized it, changed the overall canvas size of the image, etc., etc.), and I've found that the best fix might just be a combination of some of them, along with some tweaking of the photo...
Ensure that "Reduce Motion" is ON (Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion, set the slider to "on" (green)).
When taking a new photo, take it with your iPhone/iPad, oriented vertically ("Portrait") -- This makes the whole process quite a bit easier.
Access the photo in the "Camera" app.
    Tap Edit.
Use the Crop tool to remove excess content from left and right (basically, you want a vertical rectangle, with your subject matter centered in it).
Tap Crop.  The image will be slightly enlarged to fit your screen.
    Tap Save.
Tap the "square with a vertical arrow" button (bottom left) -- Sorry don't know what this button is called.
Scroll through the options at the bottom of the screen and select "Use as Wallpaper".
Tap Set, then pick which screen(s) should use the photo.  Bingo... new, properly-scaled wallpaper.
This is a band-aid at best, but it works.  I've also Edited existing photos (taken in Landscape mode (wide)), and if I could crop the desired subject matter to fit in a tall rectangle, it more-or-less worked.
Side note: With "Reduce Motion" set to off, when I applied a photo as a wallpaper, I noticed that, even though I'd cropped it as a vertical rectangle, the image was still force-zoomed, and content was cropped out. Turn it back on, and the image was as I'd cropped it.
    Hope this helps!

Do you have the parallax effect (the 3D effect) 'on' (Settings > General > Accessibillity > Reduce Motion 'off') ? If you do then you will either need to create higher resolution versions of your images, or turn that effect 'off'.
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5595 :

  • One of the 7's results that I don't like is the ablitly to Move and Scale a photo that I want to use as wallpaper.  Last version had this.  Techie i spoke with said that there was a product feedback site on here to comment on this, but I can't find it.

One of the features that I miss since uploading 7 is the ability to "Move and Scale" a photo that I want to use as wallpaper.  Techie I spoke with said that I should post this on Product Feedback, but I can't find that.

  • Cannot move and scale wallpaper on my mini iOS 7.1.2

Yesterday I updated my 16GB iPad mini to iOS 7.1.2. Today I wanted to change the wallpaper but can't get the mini to "move and scale" the photo I chose. I have tried the suggested remedies posted for the last iOS update (this past fall): turn off "Reduce Motion," try again (no dice).  Edit the photo choosing the 5x7 aspect ration, save, try again (no dice). Go to photos and send the photo to wallpaper, try again (still no dice).
Using two fingers I can move and scale the image but when I remove my fingers from the screen the image reverts to its original size and position.

    What happens when you try?
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Wallpaper move and scale

Why can't I move and scale my picture in wallpaper

I got a free ap called Instafix and it took my photo and then resized it.  At first I didn't know what it did the ap was so danged easy to use.  But then when I went into my photos a SMALLER photo was there (as well as the original) and then I used the smaller photo for my wallpaper and it was PERFECT.  LOVE it!
