How do I Move pics back to iPhoto from External Back Up

So the guy at the Apple store said this is so simple to do, but I'm having problems with it. He said it was just a drag and drop, but that did not work. I backed up my hard drive on an external drive so that the OS could be reloaded. Now I am in the process of trying to get all my data back into the programs where it belongs. So far so good, but having difficulty getting data to load back into iPhoto. I have attempted drag and drop and to "import", to no avail. The import sat all night and said it was prepping, but nothing got accomplished. Please advise me as to the best way to get this done. Much appreciate!

Yes, you are correct. Import them from the external drive. Open iPhoto which will create an empty iPhoto Library file. Select Import from the iPhoto's File menu. After the dialog opens locate the folder in which all your photos are stored. Select the folder then click on the Import/Open button. Wait until the import process is completed.

Inadvertently moved my masters-how can I move them back?

I'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm very new to Aperture, and somehow managed to move my masters for a bunch of my files out of the Aperture library. At least, I'm assuming that's what happened and caused the little red slash in the bottom right of the image previews. How can I move them back? I can locate the folder that I assume was created from the move. I'd be really grateful for any assistance.

These were referenced or managed images? The only way to move them out of the library, and have Aperture not track the move, is to open the library package by right clicking and choosing "show package contents." This isn't easy to do accidentally.
If they weren't managed, they wouldn't have been in the library. In this case, if you moved them around in the finder, then Aperture can loose track and you'll get the missing image icon. If that's the case, you'll need to right click on the image in Aperture and choose "Manage Referenced Files..". From there you can reconnect to your images. Once they are reconnected, and if you want them contained in your Aperture library as managed images, you can choose to "Consolidate Master..." from the "File" menu. This will move them into the Aperture library.

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

To access your Mac iPhoto images for use in Photoshop and Lightroom

The answer is no. There is no originals (or masters folder) that I can find. Below are the following folders in iPhoto:
Events Folder: 71 place holders with decriptions including 6 recent photos
Photos Folders: 3741 Place Holders with descriptions
Photo Stream: 1 photo
Last 18 Months: 157 photos
Last Import: 1 photo
Cloud: 229 photos
1 Album: 3 placeholders with descriptions
Slideshow: 1 placeholder with description
Many of the actual photos are recent and are duplicated in one of the abovefolders

Unfortunately you do not have direct access to iOS backs in iCloud.
I am not sure what you mean by:
It's locked with an enterprise (third party code)
Do you mean it is a corporate device and managed by Mobile Device Management software?
If so the IT department can reset the passcode.
Other than that, there is no third party iOS app that can lock the device at that level unless it is jailbroken and then no one here can help you.

There are multiple ways. I am not at my Lion machine at the moment, so I am not sure I can remember them all, but here is one: Click on the "Details" button in the upper right corner of the message. If there are image attachments, the drop down menu should appear.
Or, try right click on the image. I think I saw "Add to iPhoto" in the contextual menu.

jrod53, that is strange. Displays will always appear under the Hardware tier of the System Preferences. I've never seen it disappear, so I'm a little surprised. Do you have two monitors attached to your computer? It may be the Mac thinks there's two displays and it is send the window for iMovie out to secondary display which you don't have access to. Also is there one side of your display where the mouse will disappear off the edge of the screen, go into a black hole?
