How do I move thumbnail photos within an event?

I've tried highlighting a thumbnail photo and dragging it to (1) another photo to precede that photo and (2) to the space to the left of a photo. In each case, it didn't work.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You can't do this is an Event. Events are a very basic time and date based organisation. To change the order of things in an Event, change the time relative to the pic you want to precede.
Or... Make an album of the Event, then you can organise anything anyway you want. To do this just drag the Event to the Albums heading and it will make an album of the same name. As Albums only reference files in the Library they take up no extra disk space and have much better organisation possibilities.

  • How do I move individual photos from 1 event to another event in Iphoto 8

I have moved from a PC to a mac and was using Picasa before. All my photos are stored on a seperate hard disc and I have imported them all into iphoto. I am trying to edit them and cannot seem to find a way to move an individual photo from one event to another. When you open an event is there any way of seeing the other events and dragging and dropping your photo that way?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
1 Use PHOTOS view and then select View > Event Titles
(You can open and close Events by clicking on the wee triangle to the left of the title. option (or alt) - click will open and close all at one go.)
    2. You can now drag and drop pics between Events easily.

  • How do I move a photo within a cell? (montage)

    Hello there.
I am trying to create a photo montage. I have all my photos in cells on the page, but now I am trying to zoom in on and move photos around within each cell (sort of what you do when you upload a photo in Facebook). This was quite easy for me to do in Aperture, but I can't seem to find out how to do it in Lightroom. What am I missing?
    Thanks!
    Barb

    Hi Barb
It’s easiest to use the print module. If you choose Custom package from the Layout tab (top right) you will get a blank canvas. You can then drag and drop as many images as you wish from the film strip. Each image will show a bounding box and you can drag the corner handles to re-size. You can click in the center of each photo to move it. You can drag around the canvas and even overlap images if required. When your montage is complete you can print to file as a single jpeg.
You can also use the book module, where there are many page templates. The cells for book pages are fixed but you can drag images around within the cells. Book pages can be saved as PDF or jpeg.

  • Moving photos within an event

How do I move the photos within an event so that they are in the order that I desire?

that is not a feature of iPhoto - events are basically time/date based
Use albums for custom order of photos

  • How do I move Flagged Photos Event back to original event?

I made the mistake of thinking that I was making an event from flagged photos within an event.  Instead, it created a Flagged Photos event of photos from ALL my events.  I've read the instructions on how to put them back, but I can't get the events close to each other to drag from one to the other.  Is there another way?  Or can someone explain how to move the Flagged Photos close to the original Event?  I have over 400 that I want back in their original places.
    Thanks!

If you didn't make a back up then you don't have one. And you should. Immeadiately.
If you want move photos to a specific Event, flag them, select the target Event and go EVents menu -> Add Flagged Photos to Selected Events

How can I sort photos within an event? When I follow the Help instructions, I can sort manually in Photo format, but when I return to Event format, the original order is restored.

Events are organisation for those who can't really be bothered. They are automatic - based entirely on Date and Time the camera records the photos as taken.
You can move photos between Events, you can Merge Events, you can Rename them and sort them in various ways except one: You cannot manually sort in an Event as Events are all automated.
If you want to manually sort in an Event then you've outgrown Events as an organising tool. Now it's time to look at albums (Where you can manually sort) which are much more flexible than Events as an organising tool.

  • How can I move a photo from one project to another

How can I move a photo from one project to another without creating a duplicate so I have the same photo in two projects.
I seems to me in the past when I moved the photo from project 1 to project 2, I would get a number showing the # of photos being moved and you could drag and drop in the 2nd folder and the photos would disappear from project 1 and show up in project 2. is there a setting I am missing.  Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
    Any suggestion?

Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
The projects are the basic containers.  Each image and all its versions are in exactly one project.
You can use an image in many albums, without duplicating it, also in many products like books, screensaver, slideshows.  But the projects are the basic structure of the library and you cannot have the same image in two different project, without duplicating it by storing the same original image files twice. Use albums to organize your library thematically.
Sorry, I misread your question.   Dragging an image file between projects should move the image and all its versions to the other project.  Aperture should only duplicate the image, if you hold down the alt/options key while dragging and move the image otherwise.
Which Aperture version are you using? And which MacOS X version?  Is your profile signature "MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS 9.2.x, Aperture 3.5.1" still valid?
In Aperture 3.6 on MacOS X 10.10.1 dragging between projects is still working as expected:

MobileMe has been gone well over a year and the last oppertunity to get your photos was long ago

What does this mean? If you have a finder folder with photos in it (no matter where they came from) you can drat the folder onto the iPhoto icon in the dock and import them

I deleted a photos from iphoto, later I found them in imoive, how do I move the photos back to iphoto?

    Hi Canadian Beaver Tail!
You may want to try restoring the photo in iPhoto, using the instructions suggested in the following article:
iPhoto '11: Delete or restore a photo
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2398
    To restore a deleted photo:
If you haven’t yet emptied the iPhoto Trash, do the following:
Select Trash in the Source list.
Select the photo you want to restore.
Choose Photos > “Restore to Photo Library.”You can also drag the item out of the Trash into an empty part of the Source list.
If you use Time Machine to back up your computer, you can recover a photo, an Event, a folder, an album, a project (such as a book, card, or calendar), or a slideshow even if you deleted it from the library and emptied it from the Trash. To restore photos, quit iPhoto, open the folder containing your iPhoto library, and then open Time Machine. To open Time Machine, click its icon in the Dock, or click the Time Machine icon in the menu bar and choose Enter Time Machine. For more information on using Time Machine, see the topics in Help Center. In the Finder, choose Help > Help Center, and then search for “Time Machine.”
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

  • How do I move the photos in iPhoto to Lightroom ?

How do I move the photos in iPhoto to Lightroom?  Thanks, I am a novice to Lightroom.

To access your Mac iPhoto images for use in Photoshop and Lightroom
    1. In the Finder, navigate to Users > [user name] > Pictures > iPhoto Library.
    2. Control-click (Right-click) the iPhoto Library file and choose Show Package Contents.
    3. A Finder window opens that shows the contents. The Masters folder (or called Originals folder) contains all of the photographs that are in iPhoto.
Photoshop cannot access this folder, but if you make a duplicate of the folder, the dupe will be accessible -- so:
    4. Control-click (Right-click) the folder named Masters (or Originals) and choose Duplicate.
    5. Drag the duplicate folder which is named "Masters copy" or “Originals copy” from the iPhoto Library Finder window to the Desktop.
    6. Open images in Photoshop or Lightroom from the file on the desktop.
    or
    7.  Rename the folder and move it elsewhere (probably to the Pictures folder), if desired.
Then access the files in the folder via Lightroom and Photoshop

  • How do I move 3741 photos in iPhoto on my iPad to iPhoto on my iMac?

How do I move 3741 photos in iPhoto on my iPad to iPhoto on my iMac?
My iMac lost all of the photos in the iPhoto library about 3 OSX updates ago (current system 10.9.1) but they recently appeared on my iPad. I have looked at all of the iphoto libraries on my iMac (3) and one contains 419 photos, one contains 3 photos and the main library has place holders with description information for 3741 photos but no photos. My iPad has all of the photos in iPhoto. How do I move them?

The answer is no. There is no originals (or masters folder) that I can find. Below are the following folders in iPhoto:
Events Folder: 71 place holders with decriptions including 6 recent photos
Photos Folders: 3741 Place Holders with descriptions
    Photo Stream: 1 photo
    Last 18 Months: 157 photos
    Last Import: 1 photo
    Cloud: 229 photos
1 Album: 3 placeholders with descriptions
    Slideshow: 1 placeholder with description
Many of the actual photos are recent and are duplicated in one of the abovefolders

  • How do I move a photo into an album in the new Photos application?

How do I move a photo into an album in the new Photos application?

The simplest way is to show the Sidebar at all times - you can reveal it with options-command-S  ⌥⌘S.
With the sidebar visible, you can simply drag the photos from the Moments or other albums to the album in the sidebar. You can select and drag multiple photos at a time by selecting the first photo, holding down the shift key and selecting more photos.  If the album does not yet exist, select the photos and press ⌘N for "File > New album" to create a new album with the selected photos.

I have so many photos on my Mac I only have 1G of memory left.  How can I move the photos to the external hard drive that is plugged into my iMac.

1GB? It's a miracle your Mac is running at all!
This is our resident iPhoto guru, Terence Devlin's, advice:
You can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How can I move the photos I've made using my iPhone to my iTunes library and leave no copy on my iPhone?

I am using an iPhone 3GS and iSO 6.1.3. My iPhone states the iSO software is "up to date" and will check for another version on Dec. 13, 2013.
I have made photos using my iPhone 3GS and they are currently on my iPhone. I want to move them to my iTunes library, leaving no copy behind on my iPhone. I want these photos completely removed from my iPhone after they are copied to my iTunes library.
I've tried to adjust the Photo settings and sync my iPhone many, many times, but the photos remain on my iPhone and they are NOT in my iTunes library.
How can I move these photos from my iPhone to my iTunes library?
Thank you so much for your help or any suggestion I can try to achieve my goal! I sincerely appreicate your time and attention to matters of my concern.

I just used Windows Explorer (in Windows 7) opened my iPhone, copied the DCIM file and now I will attempt to import my photos into iTunes. I believe I answered my own question - I just thought there would be a way to do this via iTunes (I should have known better).
