How do I network a 4yr old Macpro with the latest 15" Retina MBP for fast file transfer (back and forth)

I have recently updated my equipment and now wish to use my MBP to edit files that currently reside on my old MacPro.
I have made a wifi connecting and also set up file sharing but both prove very slow and also - once the file is ready I cannot save it back to the orginal folder.
Basically, I have lots of stuff on my MacPro that is too big to take across, so all I wish to use my new machine and have the option to save back to the old machine as and when needed.
Can someone advise me on what I need to do, whether that be buy some cables to take advantage of thunderbolt, or any other good working solutions.

I am also trying to copy over the font from the library but it says i cannot because of permissions.
If both computers have ethernet ports, that is a fast and inexpensive way to connect and transfer files. You will need an ethernet cable (cost a few $$), and you have to enable file sharing on both Macs.
As for the specifics of file transferring without Migration Assistant it depends on what you want to move. Address Book for example has Export and Import funcitonality. Safari too can import and export bookmrks, etc. etc.

Since you can't delete apps that are part of iOS, you should try the same thing I do. I create a folder which I call Worthless and move to the last page of my iPhone. I then put all the apps that Apple includes with iOS into that folder. With the name Worthless, I never even tempted to look in there again. That is about the only thing you can do with worthless apps that are included with iOS.

I work on Bay listing items, I have to go back and forth on sites. The new firefox dosn`t allow this. It has back arrows, but pop up asking request are very annoying, and take much more time, The older version would allow me to drop down to the previous pages..I want my old version back. I do not want multiple windows or multiple tabs. In older Firefox versions just one window could be set, using the page history to go backwards or forwards. How do you disable new tabs or new windows from automatically opening in firefox 7?

That is a carrier-based service. So first you have to make sure your service contract includes that feature.
It usually also includes Call Hold. So you call the first party, put them on hold, call the second, then reactivate the first. But only if your carrier allows you to. -

So, apparently, while iMovie is open, I have to EJECT the Net Drive. When I remount it, iMovie immediately picks it up.
That said... the update leaves much to be desired. Many of the Projects have unlinked video (even though the same update using a Firewire HD shows the video linked).

I have my my original itunes on my old computer that doesnt accept CD's anymore and My new computer has some of the old songs and some new songs. I've tried holding down all three keys, control, option and command as well as every combination of them in twos and three and then clicking on the menu bar icon I want to remove and I only get the option to use the software, not to delete it.
Hold command and drag them off the Menu Bar, drag them at least a couple of inches. (or 50mm)
