How do I no when to update my iPod nano

How do I know when my I pod needs updating? And on the Nike app can I get it to work for cycling?

As you connect you ipod to iTunes, it will prompt the need for updating. As for the nike app installed in the ipod, the available workout is only for run and walk. Cheers!

When I connect my iPod nano 7th gen. to my computer and open itunes, there is a message that says the iPod could not be detected. Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Yep. 5th gen is failing OTA and via iTunes (both Windows and Mac). I couldn't install 6.1 Beta 5 over the weekend, and now the final version fails -- when trying to restore or update -- too.
Many devs were mentioning that 6.1 wasn't installing on 5th gen Touches over on the iOS dev forums, but Apple released it today anyway. Weird. And not good.
Not user error. Apple's screwed something up here...
    Well that's not good

  • My music will not sync to my ipod it only says revert and I cant open up music i purchased on itunes. I started having this problem when I updated my ipod

My music will not sync to my ipod it only says revert and I cant open or play music i purchase on itunes. This problem occured when i updated my ipod.
    Thanks

I also have a 4G ipod touch and a similar problem. Since I updated to the ios5 software any new songs I add to my iTunes don't sync to my ipod main playlist. They show up in the 'recently added' playlist, but not in the main 'songs' section. I fixed the problem once by restoring to factory settings and rather than reinstalling from a backup, I created a new ipod name and synced everything onto my ipod as if it was new.
This worked until the next new song I added and then the same problem started all over again. If you do reinstall everything as new, you may want to take a screen shot of where all your apps are and make sure all your photos etc are saved, as everything will be from scratch. Hope this helps!

  • When i updated my iPod to IOS 6 my ipod freezes every 5 secs why?

When i updated my iPod touch 4g to IOS 6 after 1 day my iPod started crashing every 5 seconds or start freezing. I still have that problem and i cannot use my iPod for nothing anymore. I try to play so music is crashes the iPod and sometimes when i turn off my iPod it takes about 4 minutes to turn on. I need help.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Will my apps be affected when I update my iPod?

Will the saved content on my apps be affected when I update my iPod? I think when you update your iPod, it deletes all your app content. But if I use backup and restore my apps, will the saved content on my apps come back??

Yes, I know it deletes everything. I just want to know that will it delete my saved data on my apps.
Like, say I was playing Temple Run. I have saved data on that game (stats, scores, achievements, unlocks, etc). After I update my iPod and then back up the app, will I still haved that saved data (stats, scores, etc)?

  • When I update my ipod software...

When I update my Ipod software, will it only delete music from my Ipod itself or also from my Itunes Library?

Either way, it would be a good idea to have your entire iTunes library backed up elsewhere in case something happens to your PC.
Best of luck with the update.

when i updated my ipod and got i cloud recent photos disapeared off my ipod and now i cant find them. where are they?

You should ALWAYS make sure that everything is on your computer and backed up, most especially before any update. The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly.
If you have failed to do this, then you need to redownload:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • What is that...'stuff' when I update my iPod?

Whenever I update my iPod Nano, it shows the 'Audio', 'Other', and 'Free Space' in the iTunes.
Well, the 'Other' takes up half of my iPod and I was just wondering, does anyone know what it is?

The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes or files of any kind you've added to the iPod whilst using it as a hard disk or album artwork.
There will always be a few MBs of used space under "other" but if it's in GBs it's unusually large.
If the iPod is enabled for disk use, you can look at the folders on the iPod through Explorer and delete anything you don't want.
Otherwise, see how to restore the iPod to factory settings which will erase the iPods contents and reclaim the used space.
Then reload the music from iTunes.

  • When you update an ipod touch does all of the pictures and music come back?, When you update an ipod touch does all of the pictures and music come back?

I just want to know if you can get all of your pictures back when you update an ipod touch?

All of your music, apps, photos, videos, etc, should reside on your computer, not just on your easilly stolen,, lost or damaged prtable device.
A normal update, or even upgrade, restores all your settings and data from the backup thats created at the start of the process. Even if something goes wrong, you can sync back everything from your computer.
