How do I notify Firefox of possibly a printing error?

I printed this URL two different ways:
http://education.yahoo.net/articles/facts_about_online_education.htm?kid=1IRSI
When I printed it as ALL, it all printed out fine in 3 pages.
When I highlighted just the article, and tried to print out just the selected portion, the print command produced just the first page of the article and did not print the remaining portion of the article.

  • I am unable to print using firefox message is "unknown printer error" No problem with other browsers

I tried to print a coupon from an e-mail and the message I got was "unknown printer error". I am able to print from word and other items on my desktop and also from another browser. I cannot print anything using Firefox. I have not had any updates recently and the problem seems to have happened spontaneously. Can you help.

Thanks it worked. Actually I tried that before I posted my question. I went back and rechecked and I had missed one item. Turns out it made a difference. I can now print my coupons.

  • How do you stop Firefox from suddenly getting an error message saying tabs are still open when opening the browser??

We have a MAC OS X 10.6.8 and all of the sudden when we close out of Mozilla (both by using the red x and also using "quit") the next time we open Mozilla it has a "well this is embarrassing" Error screen and asks us if we want to re-open our last session. Then it will have whatever email, webpage, fb page, etc that we were on and we can either close it or reopen it.
This started last week, we have had the computer 2 years and have never had this problem before. I tried re-starting Mozilla and after a few hours it started doing it again.

hello, this should be addressed in a later version of firefox. as a workaround in the meanwhile you could try this: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • How do I set Firefox in WinXP to print straight to my default printer rather than one of the others on my system.

    I use winXP SP3.
I have several printer options... fax, pdf Creator etc. My default Windows printer is on my network.
Whenever I print from Firefox the printer that comes up is the pdf Creator. I can select my default printer and it not a problem having to do so, just an annoyance.
I would have expected Firefox to remember my last choice and offer that again, but it does not. I haven't been able to find a way of altering the choice permanently. I have no idea why the unusual choice is made.

    Many Thanks.
Your suggestion does not actually work but it enabled me to get under the hood.
I have toggled the altered setting back to 'true'.
Next I right clicked '''print.print_printer''' and clicked the reset option.
I have restarted Firefox and all seems well. My default network laser printer came up first. I used it...ok. I then changed to my pdf printer and used it...ok. I then changed back to my default printer...ok. The next print I attempted came up with my default printer... good result!
Its fingers crossed now and I'll be careful of the resident dragons if I feel the need to mess with them again.

How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?

'''IT'S A EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.'''
This is essentially paulbruster's answer, but I've added the steps some might assume, but which aren't so obvious to those of us who are new at this, like me.
This solution might ''appear'' to be long and complicated, but after you follow the directions once, you'll find it's quick, clean, and simple. Almost like they designed it this way.
    # If you haven't already, open a bunch of tabs on a few different subjects.
    # Click the List All Tabs button on the right side of the tab strip.
    # Select Tab Groups.
    # Create a few groups as described [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups#w_how-do-i-create-a-tab-group here] , i.e. just drag them out of the main thumbnail group into the new groups they create.
    # Now click on any thumbnail in any new group, but not the original big default group you may have left some tabs in.
#A regular Firefox window will open, but'' only the tabs in that group will be visible.'' You also now have the Tab Groups button in the tab strip.
    # Right click on any tab, and there it is: Bookmark All Tabs. Click on it in the list of options. Or you can hit Ctrl+Shift+D instead and go straight to the dialogue box from the tab without any clicks. But don't go looking for this familiar option anywhere else, 'cause it's not there.
    # Now pick an existing folder or create a new one just like you would have before and '''shlpam!''' there they are. New folders are supposed to end up in the Unsorted category all the way at the very bottom, but for some reason mine show up at the bottom of my last sorted category.
    # DO NOT CLICK THE UPPER-RIGHTMOST X to close this group of tabs. This will close ALL of your tabs in all groups, currently visible or not. At least it asks if you're sure first. Instead, click your new Tab Groups button to return to the Boxes 'O Thumbnails window, and click the X in the group box you just bookmarked.
    # Click on another thumbnail to repeat the process with another group, or click on a thumbnail in the big default box to return to the original FF window. You can also click the Tab Groups button at the upper right, or Ctrl+Shift+E, which will also get you ''into'' the Boxes 'O Nails window ''from'' FF.
    # So now when you reopen FF after shutdown, simply select your folder from your Bookmarks and Open All in Tabs. '''Just like paulbruster said. '''

  • How do I customize firefox for multiple users on the same device?

Sometimes my wife uses my computer to surf the web. I'd like to have it set up so she can have her bookmarks, etc. when she's using it and I can have mine when I'm using it. Is this possible? If so how do I do it?

hello arack, the easiest way would be to create different user accounts for you both on the mac on the level of the operating system: [[How do I share Firefox between people on a computer?]]
or you could use the firefox profile manager to create separate profiles: [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]

  • How do I get Firefox to remember two usernames and passwords for att.yahoo?

Firefox remembers one username and password, does not auto-fill-in the information (which is good), but will not ask to remember the second username and password. How do I get Firefox to remember the second username and password?
I have two e-mail accounts which use the same login page, one account is sbcglobal and the other is yahoo. I would like Firefox to remember both sets of information so I don't have to type all the username and password information for one account.

  • How can I get firefox to show everything from left to right, without a curser that I have to move, in win-xp?

It used to be ok. I had a firexox teeshirt from way far back, firefox 1.0. Then i had a hemorrhagic stroke, about 3 years ago. Now i'm back, in a new place, for two months now.
(I use my left hand now...) and once again, i have a desktop, with win-xp (and five internal harddrives, and a 600w ps.) Anyway, for the first time with my new desktop, there is a cursor in the bottom of firefox, and it doesn't show everything, left to right unless i move it.
I've been out of commission, with only a laptop, with win-7-64bit edition, that i got just 7 months before my stroke. My sister threw away all of my desktops...many of which i built. The doctor said i may die...so my sister didn't even wait, but threw away my CLOTHES AND BOOKS AND COMPUTERS (except for the laptop), but she saved most of my harddrives...i guess i taught her how to save harddrives.
Anyway, it's been three years, since i've had no 32bit computer with win-xp, and i can't figure out how to make things go back to the way i'm used to. HELP! I was in your forums, when my e-mail was [email protected], which it will be again , soon. But for how, how do i get firefox to show all, left to right, without a bottom cursor? i know it's possible. (And while i'm asking questions, how can i, tony mendola, get another firefox 1.0 tee shirt? i would even pay for it, even though i'm on social security-disability, with only one hand working..and no work. I used to wear it, proudly when fixing computers for others.)

Hi manni394, what version of Firefox are you running now?
Firefox 22 has a new way of setting the default zoom level: it is based on your Windows font size setting. So, if you set Windows fonts to 125% (enlarged 25%), your Firefox pages also will be enlarged 25%. On pages that do not adjust their layout, you may get a horizontal scroll bar.
To reduce the zoom on a page, hold Ctrl and tap the - key (the one on the numeric keypad or the one on the number row of the keyboard). The zoom should be reduced for each tap.
If you want to globally adjust your zoom level to be lower, you can use either of these add-ons:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/ Default FullZoom Level]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/ NoSquint]
If you already have one of those add-ons, check the default/global zoom level in case it needs to be adjusted.

  • How can I prevent Firefox from automatically updating?

    Hello,
I am trying to prevent Firefox 28 from automatically updating to Firefox 29 (on OSX 10.7.5).
I have the option "Never check for updates" checked under 'Update' in the 'Advanced' Preferences. I have "Automatically update Search Engines" unchecked. I have uninstalled Firefox 29 completely using two separate uninstall clean-up kits and emptied the trash before re-installing Firefox 28... Yet every time I finally re-arrange, customize and re-sync Firefox 28 back to the way I like it, I restart my Mac and Firefox 29 rears it's over-drawn, bubbly, space-wasting, UN-SYNCED, ridiculous tabs on top nonsense user interface.
I've tried to work with Firefox 29 but the new SYNC simply does not work and that's a deal breaker. I need the changes I make on my mac to be reflected across the other two systems on my desk (one WinXP, one Win7) and vice versa. When I try to sync on FF29 it takes me to a page to log in and then refuses to recognize my email and password (which I have thoroughly confirmed on my other systems as correct).
Can you please help me prevent Firefox 28 from automatically updating to Firefox 29?

Thank you for your comments, cor-el.
Yes, I know about Classic Theme Restorer, but the point is what gives Mozilla the right to update my Firefox when I already have quite clearly set every option to prevent automatic updates?
    I have set:
    app.update.auto - false
    app.update.enabled - false
    app.update.silent - false
So which secret magic setting has Mozilla used to bypass all these settings and what gives them the right to do it?
Also, moving the tabs bar and menu bar and whatever else has been moved in Firefox 29 is a THEME change. It is not a security fix. Mozilla should not be in the business of changing the theme or look of Firefox. It is not their business how I want my Firefox to look.
Regarding "tabs", I have mine down the left side, so this tweaking of the tab bar position is pointless anyway.
To Mozilla, Just for absolute clarification, there is no way you can possibly justify forcing an update on users computers without their explicit acceptance.
What if someone found out how Mozilla forced the update? They could then force an update that is NOT a genuine Firefox release and do untold damage to peoples' computers.
So now I am forced to delete Firefox from my startup script and start it manually just in case their is another forced update that I can stop.
To cor-el, thank you for your post.
To Mozilla, you have lost the plot.

  • How do I get firefox to up date from a standard user account....or at least tell me to log on as administrator and update?

I do almost all my work from a standard user account. Firefox neither automatically updates (as I set it to) or informs me an update is available.
How do I get Firefox to update automatically when I am logged on as a standard user....or at least tell me to switch to admin account and update?

Let me add a note to the developers: WE ARE ALL NOT ADMINISTRATORS!
Even on our own personal computers.
I claim that administrator accounts are for administering, or developing; not using. I wouldn't be an administrator for longer than is necessary than walk down the centre of a highway with my eyes closed.
I'll repeat: Mozilla really should prevent the 'Update' button showing to an ordinary user if it's not going to be possible to use it.

  • How can I notify to VoiceOver an event so it can be announced (iOS)?

    Hi,
I'm creating app for blind people. When I was developing for Mac I could use the NSSpeechSynthesizer interface to get accesso to voices APIs, but I found that this is not possible on the iOS because the voice API are not public.
The problem I'm facing is simple. I have an application the does some things. As a result it should announce to the user the produced calculation. So, due we can't use voice apis, i suppouse the VoicOver must be active. The question is: how can I notify VoiceOver to read a label o something else when I finished the required task?
    Thank you for helping...

If the calculation is a number, you could pre-record the various amounts needed and then formulate the answer as a combination of the various amounts and then play the resulting sound using AudioServicesPlaySystemSound.

  • "Unable to Connect" error continually shows up despite having reinstalled firefox and troubleshooting. How do I get firefox to work properly again? (windows 7)

I turned on my computer and before I could start firefox it said it was updating. When it said it had finished updating and there were no error messages indicating that the update had failed. When I opened firefox it pulled up the last tabs I had open before closing the program. None of the tabs functioned properly and gave me "unable to connect" errors even when I opened new tabs, no matter what the website was. Everything worked properly in internet explorer. I tried restarting my computer and firefox, troubleshooting, restoring firefox, uninstalling and then reinstalling firefox, checking my firewall and the problem persists. I've tried changing my proxy settings according the articles on the support page but nothing has worked. How should I fix this? Firefox is my favorite browser I would hate to give it up.

see: [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox|Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]
Also possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • How can I get Firefox to search my computer for plugins that are already there?

How can I get Firefox to search my computer for plugins that are already there?
Adobe's Flash player is already on my computer from IE 8. How can I get Firefox to see that it is already on my PC and use it so I don't have to download it again and possibly create other problems. Also, in my efforts to download Flash, Firefox activated IE which made me concerned that proceeding WOULD cause problems our just leave me where I am now where IE can use Flask but Firefox cannot.

Internet Explorer uses a ActiveX version of the Flash player plugin as it does not work with other browsers.
Download the Plugin-based browsers version from https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html and make sure Firefox is closed when you install it.

  • When starting Firefox 4 I get an error message. After clicking OK it nevertheless runs. How can I get rid off the error message.

When starting up Firefox 4 I get an error message. After clicking OK it nevertheless runs. How can I get rid off the error message?
The error message is: what happened: Type Error: Components. classes ['@mozilla.org/extensions/manager;1'] is undefined.
It appears all the time already from the beginning after installing Firefox 4.

Thanks a lot. The Ask toolbar created this problem. Another problem is: When searching on the web via Google, normally it is possible to type a few letters and then look what appears and then click on the wanted word(s). A number of word(s) ineed do appear, however it is not possible to select any of them as ws possible as mentioned in olders versions.
