I just restored my sons ipod touch and I can not find the option to sync only checked songs. Where do i find the setting?

To only sync checked songs, connect your device, go to the Summary tab, and check the "Sync only checked songs and videos" option (pictured below).
Note that to get only certain songs onto your device, checkboxes will do but are not really the best way. When you get a few minutes, try the alternative known as "Sync Selected Playlists."

Same way you have always done it.
Select the iPod in iTunes and tick *Sync only checked items*.

I ran into this same problem earlier with my new iPod classic 160 gb. Turns out it could be your files show in iTunes but they aren't connected to the location those music tracks are actually located.
Does this make any sense?
You basically have to make sure iTunes is picking your songs from the right music folder via your preferences.
Option 1: If your iTunes is completely wiped blank and your music is stored in a safe place, backed up, etc. You can do the following:
Step A. Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder
**** please be sure to pick a location that is new or different from where you ACTUALLY stored your music to prevent your files from deleting itself as it updates****
For example, if you stored your music on your Desktop then you wouldn't choose your music folder to be the one in Desktop. You choose the folder where you want your music to go such as C:\My Music or in Mac, you choose the music folder.
Step B. Once you choose the folder where all your music is stored and you check the box that says "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library."
Step C. This is the part that will make sense. Drag the folder on desktop that houses all your music into iTunes. Because you checked the box "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library," iTunes will copy all the backup music you dragged into the folder location you designated it in "Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder."
---- once all that is done, your itunes will have ALL your music tracks linked to the right location on your computer and your iPod will sync with as many or all of the music you desire.

I will try am explain what I see: I hooked up my I Pod Clicked on Music checked Sync Music 1909 Songs select Playlist, Artists, albums, and genres checked Include music videos Playlists checked 50's Music checked 70's Music checked 80's Music checked 90's Music checked 2000 Music checked 2010 Music These are songs that I downloaded onto my I Tunes. I bought me a new computer but when my data was transferred from old computer to new computer a lot of my songs on my hard drive were lost, but they were able to save all my songs on I tunes. My I Pod is still connected Clicked on "On this Ipod" Music 938 Songs 2.2 days So my question to you is if I have 1,909 songs on my ITunes how come only 938 transferred to my IPod. I checked my IPod and it shows only 938 songs transferred. This did not happen before until I Tunes asked me if I wanted to update to a newer version. i have itunes 7.0.2 which i assume is the same thing as 7.0 and whenever i plug in my ipod, click on the ipod icon, and go to summary tab, the only options i get are "sync music: All songs or playlists" or "sync music: selected playlists." there's no option for "only sync checked items." it's very frusterating. could you please give me very direct instructions on how to get only checked music onto my ipod? thanksss.

Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive. This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files.

ITunes only syncs 25 songs

My new iPhone 4s only syncs 25 songs from my iTunes library. I've tried syncing directly from my 2 month old MacBook Pro; I've tried syncing via WiFi; and I've tried checking and unchecking every option available in iTunes with no luck. Any help or do I need to go to the Genius Bar?

With your iPod connected, look under the Music tab and make sure that you haven't accidentally checked to sync only your purchased playlist.

Imap is designed to synchronize your mail client with the mail server, this the normal result.
Switch to POP access if you want it to work asynchronously

"Only sync checked items" grayed out

I've updated iTunes to the newest version and my 5th gen. iPod to v1.2. I'm trying to get the box on the iPod summary page to become "checkable"... it's the "only sync checked items" box, and it's grayed out... without it, the way I manage my podcasts becomes entirely screwed up. Anybody?

Can only sync purchased songs to iPhone 5 running iOS 7

I have an iPhone 5, on which I installed the iOS 7 GM a few days ago. Everything was fine, until this evening, when I went to play some music, and it disappeared. I noticed that most of my music would just disappear when I tried to play it: if you played an album, the Music app would flip through each track, seeming to delete it as it went by.
I finally realized that these were only purchased (or iTunes Match-upgraded) tracks, ie tracks which contain my Apple ID.
Match is not turned on on this iPhone, nor is music in the cloud.
I restored the iPhone, downloading the official public release of iOS 7, and it's only syncing purchased songs. Of about 3,600 songs I have selected to sync, only about 430 are syncing.
I see no logical reason for this to happen. There are no restrictions on, and there's no reason why the iPhone shouldn't accept non-purchased tracks. I'm scratching my head over this one. Any ideas?

THis has happened to me. I went to the Genius Bar and they had no ideas - it could be my iMac, iTunes or the iPhone - which doesn't help

Hey folks,
I've successfully upgraded to iTunes v7, and while everything else appears to be working okay, I'm having trouble with the "only sync checked items" option. The option is grayed out and I can't enable it.
My poor Mini just doesn't have enough space to hold my entire library, so I rely heavily on this option to move back and forth all the podcasts I want to listen to on a daily basis. While I can do all this by manually dragging files over, I'd rather use the built-in option that specifically meets this need.

Hi, I was looking at my iPod preferences, and see the option "Only Update Checked Songs" What does this mean exactly? Has anyone figured it out yet?
I searched the iTunes help file and it just listed stuff about Podcasts.

OK, my daughter and me both have iPods and only 1 computer to update them, I don't like alot of her music, I was hoping for a way to keep the automatically update setting on my iPod - so when new music was added to my library it would automatically copy those songs to my iPod, but if I didn't like them I could uncheck the songs and after the next update those songs wouldn't be on my iPod anymore.
When we became a two iPod family, I did use the manual update on my iPod for awhile but it became a pain to remember which songs I just added to the library and copy those songs to my iPod.
