How do I open a disabled ipad without a passcode after downloading ios7

I downloaded the ios 7 yesterday and then was prompted to use a passcode.  A passcode, I might add, that I do not recall creating when I set up my ipad at Christmas.  I also did not sync this ipad with my computer.  Now, after several attempts to "accidentally" discover a passcode, I find that my ipad is now Disabled....and to open it again, I must attach it to "the computer with which you first synced the device"....which didn't happen in the first place.  What is the best way  to Re-enable my ipad?

  • IPad battery drained overnight after downloading iOS7, why?

I downloaded iOS7 on my iPad2 on Thursday 19 September. Everything worked fine after the download. When I opened the iPad on Friday morning, there was no battery life left. Am now charging it up, but don't know what caused this. Any suggestions?

No it doesn't need to be, but if it is on and isn't be used then it will drain the battery, likewise so will these:
    Wifi
Celluar data - if applicable to your iPad
    Location Services
Also of note is the following Settings>General>Background App Refresh - this is a new feature which can also use up additional battery power.

  • HT1689 how do i track a stolen ipad without a tracking software downloaded on it??

my ipad was stolen but there was no tracking software downloaded on it before it was stolen. how can i track it without one on it?

    You cannot.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • I canon play video from my ipad through my Apple TV after downloading ios7 any idea why?

Is there any reason I can't play video from my ipad through Apple TV after downloading ios7?

    Home sharing isn't working either
Which is why you can not use the remote app.  Did you turn on home sharing on your computer and on ATV?
eve though they have the same Apple ID.
Did you enter the ApplieID in the home sharing login though?  Or just in for the iTunes store, or iCloud, or photo sharing, or something else?
Home sharing isn't working either, I can't play or transmit any video from my iPad to the Apple TV because it doesn't recognize it
That would be AirPlay, not homesharing.  THey are not related.  Did you enable air play on all the devices?
Have you run the network test tools on ATV?  Can ATV access the iTunes store, Netflix, etc?

  • Unlock Disabled iPad without iTunes

Hey, i want to unlock my disabled iPad without using iTunes. I gave the iPad to my friend and he tapped in the wrong passcode. Now, he is not able to use it as it says that iPad is disabled. How can I unlock it without using iTunes, as it was setup using my laptop for the first time. He can't send the iPad to me. How to resolve this issue?

this feature is just well... PLAIN CRAZY!!!
I went on a 3 hour journey on rough roads with my bluetooth keyboard in the back and the ipad.  It appears that the bluetooth keyboard was hitting the ipad for the security code that the ipad was locked.  I totally wasted my intention to go somewhere quiet and read and write on the ipad.  Seriously pi$$d with Apple putting this into the coding i returned specially to try and contact Apple and unlock the system.  FOUR chat sessions later going to the next day as well it was settled that i had to restore my computer as i am travelling and have no access to another persons computer given that i am dependent on my own computer to RESTOREthe ipad for which a RESTORATION could not be successfully performed...
"oh thats weird .. can you try it on another computer" was my suggested fix.  SORRY ummm no im travelling overseas!! .. so it makes me wonder whether to travel with another apple product again as if something happens or you discover some crazy feature that puts you into a compromised position when out on the road ...sorry you got no help.

Unfortunately... Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

Using a computer, other than the one you have regularily been Syncing and Backing up to, was the begining of your issue.

    You don't.
You will need to restore your iPad from the same computer that you most recently synced to.
    Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If you can't do the restore then you will need to try recovery mode.

If you’re being asked for your own Apple ID, either use Apple’s iForgot service or contact their Account Security team.
If you’re being asked for someone else’s Apple ID, you need to contact the device’s original owner(if this is you, take the device and its purchase receipt to a physical Apple Store) or the person who set the lock.

You force your iPad into Recovery Mode.
    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.
