How do I open a folder marked exec?

I am not very good at computer skills, being self taught, and a senior citizen. I created lists of family dates etc. in Pages. Now on cover flow several of these are grey with exec in the top right hand corner. I have tried to open these without success, using all the ways I can think of. Could anyone please tell me if there is something I can do to open them, or are they lost, and if so, why? Any help you can offer would be gratefully received.

There isn't an extension for "unix executable." The POSIX permissions have three modes for each of three types of access. One of those modes is Execute.
If the files do not have extensions, and the executable bit is set, then they are displayed in the Finder as executable files.
If they are pages files, rename them and add a .pages extension to the file.
I ignored the "folder" reference in your subject because you stated in the question they are actually Pages files.
If they are indeed folders, that changes things a bit.

in order to update a web page on a different computer you're going to have to move the entire site over to the other computer. to do so you need to move the "domain" file that iweb uses.
The “domain” file is hidden away in <home>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
unless you've already moved it to another location on your hard drive.

once you update/change the page you want to update and publish, you'll have to move that domain file back to the other computer if you want to use the 'first' computer again to edit your site. if you just want to continue using the 'second' computer then you don't need to move the file back (obviously)

How do I open last folder?

I remember in earlier incarnations of the OS, I was able, I believe from the finder, to chose that I wanted to 'open last folder'. I can't find how to do that now, and when I want to open a particular folder, it goes back to a way earlier one, so I have to, each time, keep on selecting in the chain to get to the folder I was just in. So that's not very helpful. (Does that description help or confuse?)
Okay, I'll try an example: Example: Open Folder 1>then open Folder 2>then open Folder 3>then finally open file A, and then the next time I just want file A, the same thing happens and I am directed to Folder 1 again. Aggravating. This happens in all my apps, by the way.

Most apps have an Open Recent (TextEdit) or a listing of recently opened files (MS Word and Excel) under their File menu. Use that.

Hi All,
Before I moved to my new macbook pro running 10.10.1, I was able to open a folder in a new window by double clicking (mouse or track pad). Now I do it. Double clicking does nothing. I checked my preferences and there was nothing in there for this. I check help and the finder file menu in the help did not match the actual finder file menu. The menu option and speed keys listed in the help file menu was not there and the speed keys did not work.
Any ideas?

How can I open grouped folder layers from the full version of Photoshop into my Photoshop Elements 10 verison?

I have gotten a PSD from a coworker who asked for some help. He has the Full version of Photoshop and I have the Elements 10 version. I cannot open the grouped folders into individual layers and manipulate the current design that needs work. How can I get more functionality out of Elements and ungroup these layers?

All of a sudden my folders will not open in their own windows... Has anyone have this happen? Earlier I was fine then all of a sudden it stopped.

I don't know if this is what your looking for but here you go.
To make it so that when you double click a folder it opens in a new window you have to turn off or hide the toolbar. To do so:
Open a Finder window > Select "View" from the menubar > select "Hide Toolbar"
Keyboard shortcut to do the same as above is ( Command ) ( Option ) ( T )
Now every folder you double click on will open in a new window.
It should remember that you elected to not have the Toolbar show and every time you open a new window it will be the same.
To change back Do the same except instead of "Hide Toolbar" it will say "Show Toolbar"

Finder->View-Hide Sidebar (⌘⌥ S). Once set, ⌘J and select Use as Defaults. That'll ensure all newly opened windows have that setting.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
With 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Or if you are running 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion or 10.9 Mavericks, boot from the recovery partition (Command +R on boot) and use Disk Utility to repair your OS 10.7, 10.8 or 10.9 partition.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

Took me some time to find my GoLive CS 7.0.2 serial... Found it. Haven't had it open for a long time.
Go to menu File, choose New Site, choose Single User, click Next.
Choose Import from Folder. (There is also a choice of Import from Server that takes the content directly from the web. But, as you already have it on your machine, choose Import from folder instead).
Click Next.
Click Browse to select the folder of existing files.
Then select the the page that is supposed to be your homepage of the site (the startingpage).
Then click Next and continue to follow the instructions onscreen.
When done, you can create new pages and edit existing ones.

No, I don't think so. The pdf isn't capable of knowing which folder you would like it to open in – all it knows is that it is a pdf. It's up to you to put it in the appropariate folder.
