How do I open a local file on the computer?

I use FF 25.0.1 to log onto my EMC VNX5300 JAVA console so that I can administer the SAN. One of the functions is to create reports on the SAN usage. The SAN console writes the files to the local computer and uses the browser to open and display the file. Here's the address bar of one of my reports:
file:///C:/Users/MyName/emc/Unisphere/Reports/7.32.2.0.36/ArrayConfig.html?xml=file%3A///C%3A%5CUsers%5Cjmilano%5Cemc%5CUnisphere%5CReports%5CFCN00131500068_UMReport_12-17-2013_15-58-21.xml

The report should be a formatted table of data but instead I get a blank window within my tab. If I run the report in IE, it works OK. It looks something like this:
Storage system: FCN00123456789XML File: ../FCN00123456789_UMReport_12-17-2013_15-58-21.xmlSystem Configuration Viewer revision: 1.2.2.1.0036GeneralConfigurationView ALLIntroductionXML File InformationIntroduction
The storage system configuration display feature provides an easy-to-understand view of the XML configuration data generated by the storage system. Note that no configuration data for the File portion of a VNX system is included.
The XML version of the data is encrypted and sent to your service provider.
The following information is available in each tab:
How can I get FF to show the report? Thanks.

Great that it is now working.
For anyone interested in the slow startup aspect: <br />
The slow strartup may have a number of causes. One potential method of helping is to reset Firefox, and that does remove Firefox extensions. See

Firefox may now warn if it takes a long time to start up. ( Introduced with FHR [[Firefox Health Report - understand your browser performance]] )

  • How do you open a psd file in the trial version of Photoshop?

How do y ou open a psd file in the trial version of Photoshop? I'm trying to import it from my file pictures or desk top.

    Hi,
File>Open from within photoshop is the most basic way.

  • How i can open a zip file xlxsand the zip

how i can open the files xlxs

That kind of file format is based on Open XML Office 2007 & later Document File.
You may have an application that could open the file, such as an iWorks application, or some other one. There also may be a way to save the file as something else more readily seen in another application, such as .pdf. If you have some versions of Word, it may be able to handle the file content, it could become a .doc, etc. If you have MS Office for Mac, it should be able to open or convert this.
Some information and also an online file conversion is available from following site. I  have not tried it to see how it works, and as it would not be secure (not https:// page) consider that, too regarding content if uploaded to convert. While the converter itself may be marginal or worthless, the other free information may be helpful to know. And anything else there could be considered bait until proven otherwise. I do not know how valid the following link is, but you could search google for XLSX to Office for Mac (or Pages?) conversion information. Depends on what software your Mac has. LibreOffice or another free office-like suite could be downloaded to see if it'd handle the file format or conversion. Those site links are a search away, too. NeoOffice is another one.
claims to convert the file to xls; has other info.

    Not sure if this helps...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I open a Numbers file to the last cell used on from the previous saving of that file?

In Excel, the .xls file would always open on the the cell location where the file was previously saved.  Very nice to have feature when the file is long ,so one does not have to keep scrolling down the page to make the next entry every time the file is opened.
Can Numbers do this?  I can't find an option for it.
After opening a file, I must always scroll down to the last entry or where I want to start inputting data.  What a pain.
Is there a way to open a numbers file to where one was located when it was previously saved?
    Anybody know?  Please help.
    Thanks

    CF,
When I Save a Numbers document with a cell Selected and then close the document, the same cell is still selected when I reopen the document. Isn't that what you are asking for? Furthermore, if I have chosen 100% zoom scale, the selected cell is displayed in the same screen position as when it was last saved. What you may be seeing that you don't care for is that if the zoom is other than 100% the table's position in the display window may be different than at the last Save.

  • How do I open Pages '08 files with the current version of Pages (5.5)?

I have a computer full of Pages '08 files. I just upgraded to Yosemite and purchased the new Pages. It looks great but Pages is telling me that it doesn't open Pages '08 files. Apparently it only opens it's own files and Pages '09 files. As far as I know, Pages '09 is no longer available. Am I stuck at a dead end? Is there no way for me to access any of my documents?!
    Help!!!

You should still have Pages '08 in your Applications/iWork folder.
Open your files with that and Export to Word .doc/docx. Pages 5.5 can open those with probably considerable changes.
rogerfromnorfolk is right. Take a lesson from this as Apple will continue to screw over your work without regard for its affect on you or all the people who have to work with you.
Start looking for something else more secure and reliable, that means NOT from Apple.
LibreOffice [free] is very capable. There are also NisusWriter and Mellel with more alternatives on their way. Affinity Publisher from Serif should be launched next year and should maybe end any need to use Apple's btroken software.

  • How do I open a acsm file with the newest version of Adobe Digital Editions

I purchased an ebook that was delivered in the the Adobe .acsm format.  When I downloaded it, I specified that the Adobe Digital Editions as the app to open the file.  ADE launched, loaded my old books but the new book was not loaded. I also tried to load the book from the ADE, but the book shows up as a grayed out item that I cannot select.  I am running the book reader on a Mac running OS X 10.5.8 and have downloaded the lastest version of the ADE.  Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks, Yvonne

I'm having the same problem. I have the latest Adobe Reader version, have Mac OS X 10.6.4, and I cannot open any .acsm file-old or new. I've also tried to load the book from the ADE, but the book shows up as a grayed out item that I cannot select. I've tried everything, but to no avail. I don't have any solutions, but wanted to let you know you're not alone in this problem.

  • How can I open and copy files on the win side from the  mac side?

I am working on the mac side and I need to be able to copy files from the mac side that I create over to the win side.  I can open and view win files when I am booted to Snow Leopard, but I cant copy files to the win side.  I think Macdrive does the opposite.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    C

to write to Windows NTFS you need 3rd party.
You have read only access to HFS from Windows.
MacDrive8 works in Windows to add write to HFS as does Paragon. Paragon has what I have come to see as the best NTFS driver for OS X, and they have a separate HFS8 for Windows similar to MacDrive8.
Maybe you want to run Windows as a client OS using Parallels instead?

  • How can I open a CS4 file in the current version of Illustrator?

I am collaborating with a friend on a project. He has CS4 and can't/won't upgrade.
I was able to send him a file I created in the current version of Illustrator, and he was able to open it (I don't know how successfully, but it opened).
He then saved it with a new name.ai and sent it back to me. When I open it, Illustrator thinks it's a photoshop file. It's able to open it ok, but it's rasterized, and is lacking a lot of details. So, even when I use Image Trace to get the pieces back, little shapes, like the tongue in an animal's mouth, are missing. And all of the individual pieces that make the Illustrator file so easy to tweak are lacking.
Is there a trick to making this work, on my side or on his? I already tried searching via google and didn't find anything that looked helpful.
Last resort may be to get him to just install the 30 day trial of the current version so we can get this project done.
    Thanks for any ideas!

Having his install the trial is the way to go. Working between AI versions is a pain and as you are finding out almost impossible with 5 versions between the collaborators.

  • Jdev Extension: How does one open up a file in the editor?

I would like to be able to open a file(Java file) and highlight a certain line on it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually this is what I learned from poking around in the API: There is a util class, oracle.ide.editor.EditorUtil. Various functions in this class allow you to open a file in it's default editor.
There is also a class, oracle.ide.model.Element, which represents a resource in JDeveloper. A workspace, project, and java files are all Elements.
Ide.getWorkspaces() returns you the root of the workbench. Element defines getChildren(). By iterating through each getChildren(), you eventually can get down to an element that represents the java files in your workspaces. Thus you'll have a handle to java elements, which you can open in the editor, by using EditorUtil.openDefaultEditorInFrame(Element)

  • How do i open a dmg file without the password

Gulp, you're pretty much out of luck... I've read about ways of possibly cracking the Password on older versions, but not the newer methods used.

  • How do I open a PDF file with Adobe Reader if it is in iBooks

I have a number of PDF files in my iBooks library.  I just downloaded Adobe Reader for the iPad.  I can't see how I can open those PDF files.  The only thing I seem to be able to do with them is to open them from iBooks directly.  Doing that does not provide me with the features that Adobe Reader would provide (such as searching for particular text, etc.).

Use iTunes to save the PDF FROM iBooks, and to add them to Adobe Reader.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Bring up iTunes on your computer.
To save a PDF FROM iBooks, click on "Books" in the Library section on the left. Select the PDF you want to save and right-click and choose Show in Finder (Show in Explorer in Windows). Go up one level in your computer hierarchy and you'll see all the "Books" (PDFs and eBooks) in iBooks.  You can leave them here if you want to view the PDFs in iBooks in the future, or drag them to the Desktop.
To move the PDF TO Adobe Reader:
Return to iTunes. Click on the iPad on the left in Devices. Click on the Apps tab. Scroll down the the File Sharing section as shown below. Click on Adobe Reader. Click the Add button and select the PDFs you identified in the previous step. They'll be added to Adobe Reader

  • How to open a local file from javascript in a jsp-page

    Hi
I have created an iview from a PAR file. In the par file I have a jsp-page with some javascript code. From the javascript coe I want to open a new window with an Excel file.
    I have tried window.open("c:
test.xls", "test_window"), but it doesn't seem to work. I have created a small HTML page locally with the same command and there a new window opens with the Excel file.
If I change the local file path with an URL it also works.
Any idea how to open a local file ?
    Thanks
    /Jakob

    Jacob,
I'm not 100% (but 99,9%) and it has to do with security ristrictions of the browser not allowing to have local workstation interation from the web. This is ofcourse very dangerous if the browser would allow it... So therfore it is blocked. What if somone would point to a file/executable that formats your drive so for that reason it is not allowed to have web interaction with a local file. Only with Java Applets this is possible but still with many limitations, and what I remember Google Gears and Adobe Air do have some limited web 2 local file interaction... So best and most simple solution you are left with is pointing to a url instead of a file on a c:\ drive.
PS The reason why it works when you start the html from your local PC has todo with the fact that the browser detects that the html is not running in the web at that moment therefor allowing the access.
    Cheers,
    Benjamin Houttuin

  • How can I open a cc2014 file in my cs6 version of Indesign ?

How can I open a cc2014 file in my cs6 version of Indesign ?
I have several files that has been saved in a cc2014 version and I can't open them in my CS6 version of Indesign.
I don t have access to anyone who have the cc 2014 version to convert the file.
How can I do it from my cs6 version?
    THANKS!

You can't do it from CS6.
You have to export to IDML from InDesign CC2014 (or whatever the version it was created in) and then open the IDML in the earlier versoin of InDesign.
All explained in the FAQ on the main forum page.
