How do I Open a New Window to the Same URL?
When I click CTRL-N to open a new WINDOW, is there a way to have that new window open to the SAME URL as the one I was on (instead of opening to my Home Page)?

Not exactly what you want but it may help.
You can right click a link or middle click it to open in a new tab, so that is an indirect method of duplicating a tab.

A more direct method is to drag a tab with a Ctrl + Left Click
Alt+Enter creates a new tab from the search or address bar.
It is possible to customise the newtab page. It is even possible to set it to any chosen URL, but I am not aware of a method of setting it a dynamic tab in current focus, which is what you may wish for.

Omarbring finder to the foreground and hold down shift +option + g. This will open a window where you can go to the path of the folder directly. Copy this from the original folder (get the path of the folder by selecting it and clicking command + i). This will give you the folder specifications including the path. Copy and paste the path into the "go to" window in finder and a new window will be opened.

I did not change my Google settings. I always have had it set to open search results in a new window. Some time ago, it started opening up two windows that have identical url/content.
That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This is what I always use. You can also click on the plus sign at the far right, that will also give you a new tab/window. And if you want that tab to be a separate window, then once you've created it, just go up to that tab (avoid the little x that will appear--that deletes it), click on the tab, hold and drag it down. If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />

I created a form with 6 records displayed. I have a check box for each record. I would like to select a record and make the check box checked. Once I check a checkbox I would like to automatically open a new window in the same form with further details of the checked record. Could you please help me how I could work on this.Dear you have to create relation between the blocks then you can achieve this like:
1) Create two canvases in your form (canvas1 and canvas2).
2) Create a window in your form with name Window2 now you have two windows (Window1 and Window2).
3) now set the property 'Primary Canvas' of each window (Window1 = Canvas1, window2 = Canvas2)
4) Now create database block of you main table with (CAT, NAME, DEPT) fields and select the Canvas1 in the layout wizard.
5) Create another database block with same table but this time select only 3 fields (CAT,SAL, DATE) and at the time of creation mention relation between blocks in the Data block wizard (block1.cat = block2.cat) and select the Canvas2 in the layout wizard.
6) Now create check box field name MASTER_CHBOX in first block and set Database Item property no of this check box item and set the Value When Checked property to Y and N for Value When unChecked.
7) Create a trigger on CheckBox Item and paste below code in it.

As I stated, I have Windows 7 on my laptop and have installed Firefox 5. I sometimes like to have multiple windows of the browser open. But, unlike any previous version of Firefox, now when I have the browser open, when I try to open a new window using the Start menu, it will not open one. I have to use Ctrl+N. Why did this change?
This may seem insignificant but it really hampers my work flow. For one, with other applications, Shift+N is what opens a new window. For two, I've been doing with with my browsers for years now and it's like second nature for me - having to remember that in Firefox it's Ctrl+N is a pain in my tuccus.

How do I open a new window (cmd + N) on the current page (url) NOT my homepage?
Before I updated to firefox 28, I was able to hit cmd + N and it would open a new window with the exact same webpage I was on. Now it opens a new window with my homepage. I'm assuming I had an add-on or extension, but I am desperate to be able to do this again. Ideas?
This is an oversight by the developers of the latest FireFox revision: a great shame, as the overall feel of the browser has patently been improved.
Xabolcs has come up with a nice fudging idea; if it were to work; but sadly it doesn't for me....
As mentioned by MGprof, the latest version of FireFox (May'14) now opens one's "homepage" instead of a new blank window.
As my "homepage" is almost a dozen tabs; this is worse than useless. It's like starting FireFox again; and then having to close a whole string of unwanted tabs!
To compound my frustration, the "move to a new window" option disappeared on another recent FireFox "upgrade"; but I managed to get round that by copying an url from a tab, then opening a new blank window, to paste the url into.
So, is there any possible way to open a new window in this latest version of FireFox?
I just want to be able to open a new FireFox window; and I'd be happy with it being either blank, or duplicating the url of a currently-showing tab.
This would allow view of one trimmed-size webpage in front of another one, showing in a selected tab in my normal-use multi-tab window: useful when comparing complex images, for example.
I have just installed the above-recommended "duplicate-2-window"; but can't make it work for me.
I've assumed "no-restart-necessary" claim is correct; but using cntrl+N, I now get a new blank TAB!
I'll try rebooting next, and post here again if that improves the situation; but don't hold your breath!

When I try and open a new tab in the same window, it wont open a new tab. It leaves the page I am on and goes to the "top sites page."

If you have got to Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2 and therefore Messages version 7.0.1 then double click the individual chats.
Once they are in separate windows you can chat like that (That's the way I used to chat - I didn't even use the tabbed chat)
It is impossible to create a separate Chat window each new chat (you have to separate them off from the main window which also keeps a "copy")
New chats are added to the main window even if you have used the red button to hide it. (CMD + 0 from the Window menu brings it back)

First, as others have already stated.....make sure the checkbox is deselected for "open folders in tabs instead of windows" in Finder Preferences.
If you're like me and don't like tabs very much, there is a way to make folders always open in windows with a simple click (I'm using Mavericks 10.9.5). Go to a root folder (for example, the Documents Folder), open it, and select View > Hide Toolbar, then all folders within that root folder will open in a new window.
As an alternative method, any folder can be opened in a new window by holding down either Command Key while clicking the folder. But sooner or later you will forget to hold down that key, and then clicking on a folder will open in a tab (which will automatically resize the window and cause much aggravation).
The Hide Toolbar trick will also work with any folder present on the Desktop. It will make all folders inside that folder open in new windows.
To make the Applications Folder open in a new window when opening it from the menu bar at the top of the screen, you will have to open the main hard drive folder and use the Hide Toolbar trick. This will cause all folders inside it to open in new windows.
