How do I open a PDF file at a particular book mark

Is it possible to create a hyperlink (shortcut) in a program, such as excel or word, that when clicked would open a PDF file in adobe (pro in my case) and open that file at a particular bookmark in that file.
I couldn't find anything in the help file or here (I admit I only briefly looked).
I'm not sure if there would be some kind of command line option that pass a bookmark on to adobe so it would go to that bookmark when the file was opened.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Stan

Stan,
There is a thread on using named destinations - see http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc5423d/32, "Linking to within a PDF using named destinations." Many issues and tips are discussed in that thread. Included is a mention of a product that is supposed to convert to convert bookmarks to named destinations automatically. --GMc

  • How do I open a PDF file with Adobe Reader if it is in iBooks

I have a number of PDF files in my iBooks library.  I just downloaded Adobe Reader for the iPad.  I can't see how I can open those PDF files.  The only thing I seem to be able to do with them is to open them from iBooks directly.  Doing that does not provide me with the features that Adobe Reader would provide (such as searching for particular text, etc.).

Use iTunes to save the PDF FROM iBooks, and to add them to Adobe Reader.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Bring up iTunes on your computer.
To save a PDF FROM iBooks, click on "Books" in the Library section on the left. Select the PDF you want to save and right-click and choose Show in Finder (Show in Explorer in Windows). Go up one level in your computer hierarchy and you'll see all the "Books" (PDFs and eBooks) in iBooks.  You can leave them here if you want to view the PDFs in iBooks in the future, or drag them to the Desktop.
To move the PDF TO Adobe Reader:
Return to iTunes. Click on the iPad on the left in Devices. Click on the Apps tab. Scroll down the the File Sharing section as shown below. Click on Adobe Reader. Click the Add button and select the PDFs you identified in the previous step. They'll be added to Adobe Reader

I cannot open any pdf files on my mac book air.  I used to be able to open them.  It was suggested that I get OS Mountain Lion and I did.  still can't.  Any ideas?

You can download Adobe Reader from adobe.com.  The Mac OSX uses its "reader" to open PDF files without the Adobe Reader.  If you downloader adobe reader, it should open all PDF files.  Hope this helps.

  • In Safari how do I open a .PDF file in Preview instead of Adobe Reader?

When a pdf file opens on my computer in Safari, it opens with Adobe Reader (v. 7.0.8). Until recently, I could right-click on my mouse and and a drop-down menu would appear with the option to open the pdf file in Preview instead of Adobe. That option has now disappeared from the drop-down menu. Can anyone explain how to get back the menu option to open the pdf file in Preview? Thanks. David

My computer automatically open PDF inside the Safari
window, but I wish it would go back to opening it
externally via Adobe. (maybe we should trade
    computers:-)
Anyway, we have the same question.
How do we control whether PDF launches internal to
    Safari, or external in Adobe?
This is what I would like to as well. I often have a lot of pdf files I need to open and then save to my hard drive. When I click on a pdf file on a website Safari opens it and then I need to right click in the document to open it with Adobe. How can I get it to open in Adobe the first time without having to right click after it opens in Safari?
    Thanks!

    Hi mmart1957,
Do you have Excel files, PDF files, or PDF files that have been converted to Excel? If you're working with PDF files, you'll need either Reader or Acrobat to open the files. If you have a converted Excel file, then you'll need Excel to open it.
    Best,

  • Anyone has any idea how I can open damaged Pdf files?

    Hello!
I have an issue with trying to open old PDF files in Adobe Reader 9 Standard.
The files were created in 2000 and they need to be retrieved to be put on a server.
The files are on cds. I tried saving them on the desktop and opening from there and we still received the Insufficient Data for an Image
I downloaded older versions of Adobe and in all of them i either couldn't open it or received the cyclic redundancy error.
    Regards

    Hello!
You must try opening on different system
    Plus
Try copy & paste on different location on ur system eg. C: drive or my document.
check the attributes , hope its not on 'Read only'.
Are all PDF files on that CD giving problem?
-> You can use the PDF optimizer to change the pdf to that of an earlier version to see if the problem goes away
Also i recommend you to check the links below.

  • Doesn't open the PDF file (i.e. articles, books pages). It appears a black page. Thanks for help

Safari doesn't open the PDF file (articles, book page, etc). It appears a black page. Before that it was working perfectly. Thank for your help

    Try this ...
Open a Finder window then from the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go.
If you see the:  AdobePDFViewer plugin (or anything Adobe related) in the Internet Plug-Ins folder, move it to the trash.
Restart your Mac and try opening a PDF file.
