How do I open a port using "a shell" (Terminal)?

There is a question hereabouts that deals with opening a TCP port using "a shell." The response says that this is possible but does not say how. Specifically I need to know this for Yosemite, most recent iteration. The port would be 8101, for Tivo Desktop. Yes I know that TD is no longer supported but I have it and it seems to be working ok

Did you try just adding TD to the Firewall Options list and setting it to allow incoming connections.
Do you often connect to a public WiFi Network such that you need the Firewall running?

The DVD Creator.dll file was in the proper location but I could not find a Run As Administrator Option.
I did delete Prefs file and try again to open the app then the project and received the same problem. And the scratch disks were all directed to the Elements 13 path
Yesterday I did try additional solutions
Removed the Elements 13 App vis the Control Panel, copy the original downloaded .zip File to the Desktop and reload the entire application with no success solving the problem
In addition to that I contacted a site called Rescue.com? and the guy told me that he was a representative of Adobe, which I was not sure was the truth. He looked at my system and told me that Premier 13 was not compatible with Windows 7. I called BS on him told him that Adobe site said it was compatible and he told me I had a Trojan on my system and he would refund my money for Elements 13 and sell me version 12, which would be compatible, along with a better security system than the Norton 360 I told him I had. At that point I immediately terminated our communications and called Norton to have additional checks performed to ensure no additions were added to my system. They had me download and run Power Eraser from them and it found nothing wrong.
I also temporarily turned off the firewall and tried to use the Elements 13 but had no success.
I also went to Microsoft Windows site and searched for the Exception code: 0xc0000005 that was displayed in the event viewer and they indicated there was a hotfix available and they would email me that fix. ave not received the email yet.
I’m getting very frustrated but thank you for your help. I will update you with and additional results or actions I get or perform.

I'm trying to figure out how to open a port in OSX's firewall. I'm trying to use Bits on Wheels or Bit Torrent to download show's from Revision3.com (they distribute their shows via bitorrent). I'm not getting very much speed in downloading my files, which typically means that I'm not uploading as fast as I should. I searched this problem and everything I've read says that I need to open a range of ports in my firewall.
I have a DSL connection which does not use a router, just a direct connection to a DSL modem. Therefore I'm only using the software firewall from MacOSX 10.4.10.
So how does one open a range of ports?

I have an Airport Extreme Base Station connected to a cable modem and I want to open the ports for the two Playstation 3's I connected to the Airport Extreme via Cat 6 ethernet cable. The first Playstation 3 will be used to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and the other Playstation 3 will be used to watch streaming movie from Netflix. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Open PO or Open sales order means that the complete cycle is not complete. That means the Sales order is not completely delievered or is not billed or is not paid for. Only once the cycle is completed the order status shows as complete untill then its Open.
You can use VA05 to find open sales orders.
Similarlry open PO's are those PO's whos inbound delivery is not complete or whos goods receipt is not complete and whos payment is not done to the vendor
U cannot directly find the open PO and open SO from any table.
That u have to calculate from the status of the PO and SO and then check wheteher that is complete or not.
U have table VBUP for SO status.Check out the fields in that table

by navigating to:
Content Administration -> Collaboration Content -> (Room Administration -> Related Topics) -> Configure Backend Properties for Rooms
you can change the Webprotocol to http:// and set server port to 50000 (default port).
To see the SSL Port you can go in the Visual Administrator to Services -> "HTTP Provider Services".

Port 5900 is for VNC (screen sharing), the WD will not support VNC. Leave that port alone.
What you want to to is complex to setup securely…
Enable ssh on the WD.
Fix the WD's IP local address on the router so that it is always the same (this makes port forwarding stable).
On your router open a port to use ssh…
Port 22 is 'privileged' & is often scanned by bots just like port 21, choosing another port will reduce that exposure to an extent (a determined hacker will still know ssh is running on this port).
Pick port 23895 or something else high (over 1024) that is the external port to use to 'dial in'. The router needs to direct to the internal port 22 on the WDMyCloud.
To test the connection use ssh in Terminal (do this from inside & outside the WD network)…
ssh -p 23895 username@external-IP-address
accept the 'ID' if they match (first time only, unless the IP changes)
enter password for username
This allows you to run commands or browse files via Terminal commands etc.
Type exit & hit return to leave the remote session.
You can also use apps like Panic's Transmit to mount the share points over ssh or sftp - frankly it's easiest to stop here - Transmit has a 'mount remote disk' feature that basically does the same as Connect to server in Finder. Use ssh or sftp as the settings & it will be secure.
Mounting remote in Finder
If you want to mount the disk via AFP in Finder you need to use 'ssh local port forwarding'. The principle is to forward a custom local port through the ssh connection to the AFP port on the WD.
This will setup the forward…

Note -L is 'local forward' here it uses local port 22548 on localhost to connect to 548 on the remote end.
Then you can connect in Finder to localhost.
afp://username@localhost:22548
You are connecting to the local port 22548, which is actually a tunnel to the WD's port 548.
Some things to note.
You need to disconnect & kill the ssh connection when finished, otherwise the local forwarded port will remain in use, this prevents connections & makes it frustrating.
Your external IP address may change depending on your ISP & internet service type, whatsmyip.com will help you see changes but only from inside the network. dyndns.com or no-ip.org can help with this issue. Either the WD or the router should be made responsible for updating any dyndns records.
I haven't mentioned setting up ssh keys, there are many guides on the web. Once keys are setup you can disable password login via ssh on the WD, just be aware that if the keys do not work you get locked out of ssh - potentially catastrophic on these NAS's that have limited access. Transmit will use keys saved in your user account.
Local forwarding seems complex (it is) but once it works you can save the commands in two scripts, one to connect & mount the disk(s), another to disconnect & kill the ssh connections. It makes life easier. Transmit skips the need for these altogether.
I suspect that is very scary, sorry it is just complex to setup. Test locally is my advice (use the internal IP when inside), then move onto testing from outside. If you have an iPhone apps like Prompt or iSSH can allow you to test connections via cellular data which is outside the LAN.
I'll try to clarify if you have questions, but it's very difficult to troubleshoot via forums, so good luck
