How do I open an EPUB ebook in ADE ? - Getting Adobe Error

Help...........This is my first time trying to download an ebook to my Computer (Windows 7)
I just got an Adobe ID and downloaded Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) 3.0 as an Icon on my Window's Desktop. When I open it, all I see are tons of instructions but nothing applies to the problem I'm having.
I downloaded a Library EPUBebook which is an .acsm file and when I open it, it immediately goes to Adobe XI and opens with an error. - The Library is closed until Tuesday and I don't even know if they will help.
ERROR says: "Adobe Reader could not open "......................acsm" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged."
I'm sure the file is not corrupted as someone else had borrowed it just before me. I deleted and downloaded it again several times... same problem
I've tried to read all the tips with no results.
It says to drag or type it into ADE but when I open ADE all I see are instructions with no place to drag or type to. I tried reinstalling but it says ADE is already running.
help?

I've attempted using Acrobat Pro to do the conversion, but it simply won't allow it. Are there easier ways to have an online or fillable form, created in an Adobe program, such as LiveCycle or Acrobat Pro, sent or saved in a pdf format?
For example: I make a form using an Adobe Program and put it online for people to fill out. They fill it out and click a button to email it to me. When I open it, is there a way to see it as a PDF document?

Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

I found the problem. Do you have other wi-fi (w-lan) like repeater or tv-transmitter or d-link etc. if yes, please disconnect them once and try again after restarting the time-capsule resp. change the channel if you can to another one. then it should work again.
@ home i have a tv-transmitter via wi-fi and indeed, i changed the channel from 1 to 6 or something like that, then the iphone worked again.

Your best bet is probably to start over by cleaning off the old software with the Adobe Cleaner tool:
