How do I open an image as layer?

Okay so what I'm doing is I go to Browse in Bridge, Select the image I want, Go to tools, Click Photoshop, then load into Photoshop layers. It then brings Photoshop back up and says Load Layers needs at least 2 files open. How do I fix this and is there a way I can open an image as a layer without using Bridge? (I'm using CC for both by the way)

Hi,
You can open the image in Photoshop directly. Then it will come up as a locked background layer. Double click on the locked layer in the layers palette - it wll rename to layer 0 by default. Accept that change. That makes it a regular layer like any other - instead of a locked background.
I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for or not? If I misunderstood - please clarify for me and I will try again

Hi eddie
If you saved the image on the old computer as a project or a PSD file it will only open in Elements. The best thing to do is make another copy and then transfer it to the flash drive.
If you open the saved collage in the PSE5 Editor you can click the top menu Layer à Flatten Image
Then click File à Save As and choose jpeg.
Copy the jpeg to the flash drive and then plug it into the new computer and drag the jpeg collage to Pictures or another folder.

The screenshot shows the first raw file is named T1-XMG_3306.CR2 which probably corresponds to a normal raw filename of IMG_3306.CR2. It is not clear where this name came from. I guess it is possible that you’ve entered in a renaming template in LR’s Import panel that replaces the initial I or _ with T1-XM and so the files are renamed.
What I have asked for is not a screenshot of your filenames, but one of the CR2 files, itself, which you can upload to dropbox and post a link to. You should use copy/paste to get the link into a message, rather than typing it in, if at all possible.
This is because it was my understanding that these oddly-named CR2 files don’t work, and I wanted to look more closely at them to see if they were recognizable as some other type of file.
Do you have a raw file named IMG_3306.CR2 that these files correspond to?

Small correction to what SSprengel wrote...
The RX100M3 is supported only by version 8.5. It sounds like you need a newer version.

You need to start from PS Touch for this.
There's two ways either direct in the gallery with the +image icon.
Or you create a document and use the +image icon in the document view.

How To Place/Open Multiple Images Into Separate Layers For ONE Document?

I've been searching for the answer for a long time so I figured that someone here has to know. I have PS Elements 9.
So I would like to make GIFs and I know how to do so, the problem is placing in those tens of files in layers (it's tedious). Is there a way to select multiple image files to place into a single document? And for them to be place into its own layer? I've tried dragging and selecting from the Open/Place menus (won't allow), SHIFT + Direction Key from the Open/Place menus (won't allow), tried opening them to drag on the Organizer and to drag from the Project Bin (again won't allow), and I've read tutorials where they say to use scripts and actions but I'm not sure what to download them in order for them to work and the links are broken anyway.
An example of what I'd like to do:
Open and place in 15+ screenshots into layers but in just one document.
Each screenshot would be one layer in said document.

I feel like there's an easier way to get this without placing in each one at a time. I remember being able to do this on a old PS (though not Elements). Thanks for any help.

The quickest method is probably opening all images together from Full Edit:
File >> Open
Then navigate to the folder and use shift+click to select a block of files.
The images will appear in the photo bin. Drag and drop each one into the main editing window and a separate layer will be created for each.

Well, you have the old Photoshop CS (8.0), which supports only ACR 2.4. (ACR = Adobe Camera Raw.)
Your camera generates raw files that require ACR 4.3 to open directly in Photoshop. Therefore, you will never be ablo to open the raw files from that camera directly in Photoshop CS (8.0).
You have two choices:
• You can download the free, stand-alone DNG Converter 5.3 and run it to convert your raw files to raw DNG files first, which you can then open in ACR 2.4 hosted by Photoshop CS.
• You can upgrade to CS4 and open your files directly in ACR 5.3 hosted by Photoshop CS4.

Yes I am new at this.
Basically all I'd like to do is have a thumbnail on a page as a button, click it so it opens in a new window at a zoomed larger size.
I know this is probably simple but I can't figure out how to do this.

I am starting to use my camera to take pictures of original artwork, for the purpose of making and selling reprints. I understand that I need to shoot the images in RAW so that I don't lose picture quality, but how do I know if the images that are importing into Lightroom from the SD card are even the RAW files?

the G9 is a great camera (I have the much newer/advanced G12) however I don't feel its really up to the job you have in mind. Photographing art works is rather specialized if good quality is required not to mention a good understanding of LR and/or PS.

Yes, that's why and no, sorry, there isn't a workaround unless you can get your screen res higher, which you probably can't. The window won't open because it can't fit.

D3300 needs at least LR 5.4, the latest version is now 5.7. Its a free update.

If you want to dynamically link to the image file, the Reynolds (Mark) is correct, use the File > Place function to drop it over the background.
If you just want a copy of the image, you can open the image in PS and use the "Duplicate Layer" function (by right clicking on the layer pallette or in the Layer menu). In the prompt window, there is a dropdown where you can select which document to duplicate the layer onto. Select the PSD with the background image and that'll do it.

Open an image with photoshop...I can't create another layer

So, just got aperture and am trying to figure it out.
I have managed to open an image with an external editor...in my case, photoshop elements 4...now, I would like to edit this image further.
Problem is that photoshop tells me that my image is 16 bit... and so I can't even create a new layer.
How do I fix this? Is this an export setting from aperture?
Please help!

I'm getting there! I will have CS2 one day...for now, I'm doing well with what I have.
I needed Aperture to retouch mass number of photos fast...then I so a little bit of this, a little bit of that in elements.
It works for me for now.
