How do I open an internet explorer tab from Firefox?

In older versions of Firefox, I could click on a tab and open it in IE, but I don't know how to do it in Firefox 4.

That has never been a built-in feature of Firefox, but is added by an extension such as IE Tab 2 - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36/

  • Hyperlink in MS office to pdf opens in Internet Explorer instead of Firefox

I have some documents (Excel, Word) that contain hyperlinks.
Hyperlinks to websites (www.***.com or http://***.htm) nicely open in Firefox. But links to online pdf's (http://www.***.com/***.pdf) all open in Internet Explorer.
    How can I change this?
I'm using Windows XP pro, Firefox 3.0.5, Office 2003, Adobe Reader 9.0.0

I have the same problem (roughly) - I have PDF hyperlinks in an Excel spreadsheet and, when clicked, instead of them opening directly in Acrobat (or via Firefox, my default browser), they open via IE. Regular HTML links in the Excel spreadsheet open in Firefox.
I have enabled the '''Block PDF files' access to all web sites''' option under ''Trust Manager'' category in the Adobe Reader ''Preferences'' tab.
I have also disabled the '''Adobe PDF Link Helper''' Extension in the ''Manage Add-ons'' tab in IE.
Obviously, neither of these settings made any difference.

when viewing my outlook emails in firefox, when I click on a link the new webpage is opened in internet explorer not in firefox

Thank you - that has solved the problem - links simply open in a new tab in firefox.
    Marvellous.

  • .pdf hyperlinks in word open in Internet Explorer instead of Firefox

I have website addresses copied and pasted into a word document, which automatically makes them a hyperlink. Normal website addresses open fine in firefox (which is my default browser) when I Ctrl+click on them. Web links to a .pdf, however, open Internet Explorer and then open in Adobe Acrobat inside Internet Explorer. How can I get .pdf links to open in Firefox when I Ctrl+click on them?

  • Need to install internet explorer tab on firefox 10.0.2 on a mac? is there such a thing?

I downloaded firefox 10.0.2 on mac - need to install ie tab - is this available?

    Hi tsherer,
IE Tab is currently not compatible with 10.0.2:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab/
You could try installing the Nightly Tester tools add-on to force compatibility. You could also try looking at some of the other add-ons available that have similar functions.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How do I open a downloaded Zip file from firefox in android platform

as above . I downloaded a file off the net via a link and its an ebook in ZIP format. The android version of Firefox refuses to allow me to do anything with it

    Hi,
In order to open ZIP files, you have to download an app to enable the opening of the ZIP. Here's one you can use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.winzip.android
Next, when you install that, open it and go to your Download directory. It should either be in sdcard0, sdcard, or sdcard1, then go to Download.
Once you find it, touch and hold the file, then click '''Unzip here''' and it will extract the files in the ZIP folder.
Let me know if this works!

  • How can I open pdfs with Acrobat directly from Firefox (Android)?

I would like to open pdfs directly with the Acrobat reader app, without downloading it (& saving it in the downloads folder). When I open a pdf, FF offers me several apps or a download, but not the Acrobat Reader, also Acrobat it mentioned as the standard application for opening pdfs.

The file must be downloaded for Adobe reader to be able to display the file. There is no way to display any file without downloading it.

  • How do I turn off a shortcut that says "Open in Internet Explorer" and default back to FF

I use FF as my default browser. A few shortcuts work better in IE so I select the option to "Open in Internet Explorer" and this works fine. Now I would like to undo one of these shortcuts and have it open in FF per the original. I tried to delete the shortcut but any new FF shortcut to that website automatically opens in IE.
How do I cancel that original transfer to IE so it will again open in FF?

    Hi roblsmith, <br>
i am sorry for the previous post which was not well stated. Change the application in the Target field. It is on the left of the URL that you wish to open. You should have something like: <br>
    “C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” http://url_you_want <br>
    Hope that helped!

  • I use Earthlink mailbox, and I want my email links to open with Firefox, but they open with Internet Explorer; how to fix?

I am using Windows XP 2002 operating system; Earthlink mailbox program for email with AT&T Broadband.
I want to have Firefox as my default browser, but my email links open with Internet Explorer. I have followed the Firefox help page to set Firefox as my browser, but the problem remains.
Do you know how to fix this? Is it a problem with Earthlink?

I have Microsoft Outlook also with Firefox and can open just about every link, url, company page, etc via the email links. First, make sure you have noted the email as NOT JUNK so that the links are activated by Outlook. Second, Firefox needs to your default browser for the links to open in Firefox rather than IE. There are some links from Microsoft that may ignore the default and open in IE but not all anymore. I have a Sony laptop which ignores the default browser and opens all of its support information from its VAIO software loaded on the computer in IE. Besides that though, over 95% of my items will open in my default brwser selection, which is currently Firefox.
Go to this link to make sure Firefox is your default browser.
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+make+Firefox+the+default+browser?s=Make+Firefox+the+default+browser+&as=s
Or this link to make any browswer of your choice the default.

  • Mostly websites are not open on internet explorer and other browsers in my laptop

mostly web sites are not open in internet explorer and other web browsers in my laptop.

    Rob,
Many thanks for your reply.  It is appreciated greatly.  I have added text against each of the points that you raise.
troubleshooting Addons is somewhat complex.....as from this side we do not know which addon may be causing the problem, so the
only recourse is to disable the types of addons that commonly cause problems in IE (for security and usablility reasons some older addons that you may have used previously with IE8/XP are no longer compatible with newer versions of IE that you are now using)....
The following instructions will stop your Toolbar and Browser Helper addons from loading in IE.
    Start>Control Panel>Internet Options>Advanced tab,
    uncheck "enable third-party browser extensions".
close any open IE windows and restart IE for the changes to take effect.
[GotaQ: Yes, did this but the problem then is that IE won’t open for me.  There is no icon in the start menu or task bar
and routes such as using a command prompt or ‘run’ instruction don’t work.  When I try this I get a window on screen that flickers for a bit and then disappears.]
Alternatively, your problem with keyboard input is most likely being caused by a form filling addon or a finger print reader
addon? Note: some addons like the Google toolbar have multiple features like form filling, you can disable the GTB's form filling features from its settings dialog (click the 'spanner' icon on the toolbar)
Use Tools>Manage Addons>Show all addons to locate any such addons and use the Addons Manager to disable them. (close and
reopen any open IE windows for the full changes to take effect).
[GotaQ:  I tried disabling all of the add-ons in Google Chrome and the key-stroke mapping problem persisted, unfortunately!]
