How do I open an unsupported Tiff?

Hello there,
I have a folder of tiffs that were recovered from an sd card out of a Canon T3i.  The only recovery software that worked saved them as Tiff files.  I can view the thumbnail, I can even view the full res version in Windows Picture Viewer, but the files cannot be opened by Lightroom, Photoshop, Infranview or Gimp.  The all spit out a message to the tune of "unsupported tiff format".
I'd be happy to just get these things into jpeg format so that I can edit them, this mess is turning into a nightmare.  Please, please give me some wisdom.  I'm at a loss.

Conroy is correct for the OP in this case. But does not work on my machine.
You and your machine are not the centre of the universe. In fact, dare I suggest that they are completely irrelevant and of no interest to all except yourself.
Chris's infomation I feel is also correct and important.
Nobody has disputed the correctness or importance of Chris's information. However, Chris's informative post was not an answer to the OP's actual question. My post that was marked correct by the OP should not have been unmarked as correct in order for Chris's post to be marked correct.
If I was having the same problem as the OP and downloaded his tiff and saw I had the same problem with his as with mine.
For heaven's sake, man! Please consider someone other than yourself for a moment!
When I saw conroy's append I would have tried it and found it  did not work on my machine.
Who cares?! You and your machine are irrelevant to all except yourself.
I would then see that it worked on the Op machine and I would also have seen Chris append.
I would now be asking the Op which version of Windows and Photoshop he is using and what image Codecs he had installed on his system and I would be searching the net for codec to decode type 6 Tiff file.  So I feel both appends are important a relative.
Nothing you write can excuse my post being unmarked as correct by a member of staff after the OP marked it as correct because it did correctly answer his question.
I was trying to tell conroy Chris was not writing he was wrong or incorrect. Because of the emotion conroy's append seem to convey to me.
There was no need for you to try to tell me anything of the sort. Again, I am asking you to read the thread carefully for once. I had never claimed that Chris wrote that I was correct or incorrect. I complained that my post had been unmarked as correct in favour of his post being marked as correct when my post, not Chris's, was the actual correct answer to the specific question posed by the OP.
What's to like or not like?
"You may be amazed that anything could read the file, but I have many apps that can read it. Even Adobe Camera Raw can read it. Furthermore, if ACR is set to automatically open supported TIFFs, it does automatically open the OP's file. You may not like that, but it's true and my answer was and is correct."
To like or not to like the fact that Photoshop fails to read certain files that other graphics apps do read.

  • How do I open old tiff files in PS CS5

How do I open old tiff files in PS CS5?

Opening old files in new versions should never be a problem - unless they have originally been saved in other applications that don't follow the file format specifications. Or the files are corrupted.
The other way around can sometimes be tricky because of new features not present in the old version.

Even though I have checked "Automatically open all supported TIFF's" in Camera RAw Preferences - My tiff files do not open up in camera RAW. How can I correct the problem?

What kind of TIFFs?  Are they multi-layered, for instance?  ACR will not open layered files.

I have text documents in my email folders which I can't open. They are PDF files and Open Office documents. How do I open these documents?

These are the "out of the box" file formats that you can view on the iPad as mail attachments. If the file is not listed here, you cannot view it without a compatible third party app. What is the file extension?
Viewable document types: .jpg, .tiff, .gif (images); .doc and .docx (Microsoft Word); .htm and .html (web pages); .key (Keynote); .numbers (Numbers); .pages (Pages); .pdf (Preview and Adobe Acrobat); .ppt and .pptx (Microsoft PowerPoint); .txt (text); .rtf (rich text format); .vcf (contact information); .xls and .xlsx (Microsoft Excel)

  • Opening 16-bit TIFF in LabVIEW Pro

16-bit images are captured from a PerkinElmer digital panel in an x-ray system. LabVIEW will not open these saved TIFF images directly. If images are first opened using ImageJ and then re-saved as a TIFF image LabVIEW can then open them. The images however have the same file size but are slightly modified at the high intensity values which currently are not an issue.
How can these TIFF images be opened without having to go through this second step; has anyone written LabVIEW software to take images directly from the panel - free or for purchase as a vi for use in a larger program?

Would it be possible to post one these images.  I have tried to duplicate the issue using a stock Tiff image, but I cannot get the error you are reporting.  I would check and make sure that all of your image types match up, such as in IMAQ Create and IMAQ ImageToArray.  If you are reserving a memory location for an image other than 16 Bit, then that could cause an error.  Also, if you don't have the correct indicator wired to the output of the IMAQ ImageToArray VI, that could cause an error too.  It sounds like the error is occuring at IMAQ ReadFile though.  Are you using the default file options, or are you setting them through a control or constant?  If so, what inputs are you changing?  If the inputs don't match up, that could lead to an error also.

  • How do I open a photo in CS3 as a RAW file from Aperture

How do I open a photo from the Aperture library in Photoshop CS3 so it opens in the RAW converter first, as it would if I opened it from bridge? I can only see options for TIFF and PSD.
    Thanks and regards,
    Craig

You could import your RAW-files as referenced images into aperture. This way your Raw-files would live in a folder structure on one or more harddrives. Third party applications like Photoshop would have access to your files too. You could implement a DAM strategy like Peter Krogh´s (http://www.peterkrogh.com/).
Disadvantage: you would be responsible for a thorough organisation of your files (raws and derivatives).

    Hi
I am not suprised no one answered your questions, there are simply to many of them. Can I suggest you read the faq on 'how to get help quickly at - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/470404.
Especially the section Don't which says -
    DON'T
Don't post a series of questions in  a single post. Splitting them into separate threads increases your  chances of a quick answer.

  • How do I open the same ports on an Airport Extreme Base Station for multiple computers at the same time?

    As the title suggests...
I have a mix of five Mac and PC's at home using an Airport Extreme Base Station as the router.   I need many ports opened on the AEBS for all of the computers- not just one computer.  (for example: three people want to play TF2 on Steam at the same time; each machine needs the correct ports open on the router).   Port forwarding  only allows me to forward a given port to a single IP, yet I need that port open for five differnt IP's, all at the same time.
How do I do that on an AEBS?
In the same way, I have a small office of four iMacs using an old airport with the same exact issue.   I would like to be able to connect to all of them remotely with Apple Remote Desktop, but the port forwarding on the airport only allows a port to forward to a single IP.   I want to be able to tunnel into the office network and log onto any machine behind the Airport extreme... not just a single IP.    I currently have it set up where I can tunnel into the office from my house, I can find the one machine that the port forwarding has been assigned to, I can log on and everything is just fine... with one machine.    How do I open the firewall for the other machines?
TL,DR version:  How do you open ports on an Airport Extreme Base Station instead of forwarding ports?   Forwarding ports doesn't work for multiple IP's.

You can open a single or multiple ports to a single device or different ports to different devices, but you cannot open the same port to multiple devices via the AirPort Utility for the Apple routers.

  • How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • How do I open a mime attachment on my iphone ?

How do I open a mime attachment on my iphone email?

    You can't.
All attachments must be encoded before being sent and MIME 1.0 is the industry standard for message encoding.
When receiving a message with an attachment file type that cannot be recognized by the email client and/or by the computer/device used, MIME attachment will appear instead.
This can mean the attachment that was sent is a file type that cannot be accessed/viewed by the iPhone. I also see the same on occasion when a received message was forwarded by the sender and the message received by the sender contains an attachment that can be accessed/viewed by the iPhone but the original message that was forwarded was composed in HTML which can do screwy things with email on occasion - personally I wish HTML would be forbidden with the exchange of email - this along with forbidding the use of the AOL program to send email with attachments.
